The Frailty of the Modern Pitcher

If “frailty” of pitchers is truly a thing, might we expect an uptick in PED use to occur with pitchers? Some/most PEDS can significantly help in recovery from big physical efforts. Given the increased risk of injury from the “max effort” approach to pitching, and given the increasing reward to...

Revised contract predictions for Snell and Montgomery

Does the QO penalty expire at the start of the season? I thought I saw chatter elsewhere that it expired sometime later. So, Snell would have to wait well into the season, then sign to allow the gaining team to avoid QO penalty. Someone clarify this for me.

    Offseason rumors

Still scratching my head about what the Jays are (not) doing this offseason. I thought Chapman was a good fit going back there.

    Red Sox signing Liam Hendriks

I root for players more than teams. It's more important for me to like the player (and thereby the team) than care about the overall performance of said player or team. A stacked team of dick bags isn't of any interest to me (not that I am implying the Sox are like this, more just a general...

How much does winning and losing affect your fandom?

#2 I agree with TR. In my youth I was a hard core member of The Nation, not anymore. I want to like the players and the team. Their stories, the teams arc of their seasonal story are interesting to me. Weirdly, I am also much more interested in the 40 man, its composition, then I am the...

    Year Two Yoshida

He fits my criteria of someone to like and feel good rooting for. His bat will play next year, enough to make him more than a serviceable OF.

    Offseason rumors

10000x this. People! Spending smartly will produce the best result. I know that you all know that. Who cares where they fall in the rankings for spending if they put an entertaining product/winning team on the field? Yes, yas, the best talent often costs the most, therefore to have a good...

McAdam: “Full Throttle” may mean business as usual

Well said. My view as well. Make the Dodgers match a massive deal or make YY leave a lot of dinero on the table to go where he wanted to go (the Dodgers). I doubt the Sox did that, which is fine, but that would be the only way to get YY.

    Offseason rumors

The Sox prospects podcast mentioned, that if you were to think about trading Sale and half of his contract for Grissom and Paxton, you would probably do that, correct. When it’s framed like that it makes perfect sense to me at least

Lucas Giolito signs 2 year, 38.5M contract with Red Sox (opt-out after 1 year, potential 3rd year option)

I listen to it quite a bit, IC seems pretty sure about his own opinions, and there was no question that he didn’t think the Sox were going to get ERod back, like, at all because of some Cora rift. Another take away for me was that there is NO WAY Seattle is trading their controlled SP. So I...
