    2021 Pats: QB Options

He's cheap, knows the system and has a few skills. He fills a backup slot at worst. I'm fine dedicating resources to other positions of need instead of a potential upgrade to that spot.

2021: The Nation's Tears Are Still Here

Point taken. I meant more that he pushed himself to overcome a lack of apparent tools - big arm, speed, etc. - to get on coaches' radar. He didn't have a name either, so he was forced to start from scratch (upon an acknowledged foundation of relative financial wealth) in building his name.

2021: The Nation's Tears Are Still Here

I guess I'm just tired of bullshit. He may project himself as the guy on the next barstool - and I think you're correct on why he's embraced - but Manning is really the guy who sticks his balls in an unsuspecting woman's face. There's more to that story, but that's more than enough for me...

2021: The Nation's Tears Are Still Here

I'll add that Brady's a self-made man. He didn't have the best tools, didn't have any NFL lineage, was a backup in college, drafted in the 6th round and fought his way to starter and eventually champion multiple times. It's the equivalent of a blue collar classic underdog Hollywood story. Yet...

2021 Pats: Looking Ahead – Roster Planning

Yeah, if there ever was a great time to be in the position the Pats find themselves in, it's now. Short of getting JG or the equivalent on board quickly, the Pats are not a fit timeline-wise, for JJ Watt . He's just the tip of the iceberg though and there should be good pickings for patching...

    Houston: Turn Down for Watt

If the Pats still had Brady, they'd be in consideration for Watt and it wouldn't shock me if the Brady/BB combo wouldn't have put them at the top of the list. Forget about it now. JJ wants a legit contender as time is short.

Super Bowl LV: Game Thread – Kansas City Chiefs @ Tompa Bay Bucs

You can see why Brady wanted AB so badly. That route was like a mirror image to the routes run by Edelman and Amendola. Just a couple of violent cuts. It's funny to see the Bucs lineman nervously following Brady as he's about to dig into Mathieu the second time. And second the notion on...

    That Time BB Was Wrong

Added to this is the stability of life in the NFL pre-cap. It‘s the single biggest obstacle to modern day dynasties.

    That Time BB Was Wrong

Good point, but he may have made that deal figuring he might have to eat a year or two by the end of it. He had to make some allowances for Brady’s incredible drive and execution. It seems pretty clear he didn’t think it was sustainable to continue offering multiple years,/high bonus after...

Predicting the Future: How Many SBs Does Mahomes Win?

It was somewhat cavalier, but I took Nantz' point to be that Mahomes' loss was a 2 game swing. Mahomes went from being down 6-2 in SB wins to 7-1, so 4 wins down to 6 wins down. IF Mahomes had had a chance to catch Brady, the odds had taken a significant hit.

Predicting the Future: How Many SBs Does Mahomes Win?

I went with 3 because I have such respect for Mahomes' gifts and his extreme youth. Those throws under duress are otherworldly. One of the things that might cap his career by, say, the late thirties is injuries. A big part of his game is the ability to run and get the first down when...

    That Time BB Was Wrong

The issue between TB and BB was simply control. BB wanted control of the cap. He had many chances to lock up Brady through these next few years, but didn't want to give up his flexibility given Tom's age. By keeping Brady on short years, he'd retain the ability to make a switch to another...

    Bruins 2021 Season Thread

Oh yeah - the hockey. Great to see Pasta - and Pasta's laser - back in the lineup. What a huge missing piece.

    Bruins 2021 Season Thread

Finally saw the Frederic/Wilson fight. Kid did some good. Needs to get his skates closer together when he squares up. They were kind of spread out when the punches flew so his balance wasn't optimal and he was on his heels for a moment. Look at Wilson's form. Despite that, Fred recovered...

    Jaylen Brown's 2020-21 Season

IIRC in the 2nd Philly game, he avoided a charge with a slight shift to his right as Embiid established position in the paint. Embiid then leaned to his left and was called for the foul. Early Brown goes straight into JE. JB's quickness, speed and now control are a joy to watch as his growth...
