Might as well start talking about 2021

I just happened to turn the TV to MLB network a few minutes ago and they were doing their 2021 Outlook on the Sox, and were in the middle of an interview with Dalbec, who seems like a really good kid. Leiter was joking with him about his stuff on the mound, and whether he'd like to get back out...

Might as well start talking about 2021

They really need to address the pitching staff. As things stand, they're relying on two of Pivetta/Houck/Seabold/Mata. I'm willing to ride with someone from this group filling one rotation slot at least until Sale is ready, but I think relying on two from this group is too much to expect...

    Dustin Pedroia Retrospective

Agree on all counts. And it still gets me upset just thinking about it.

Might as well start talking about 2021

So the market for Springer went from a reported 5/115 to the 6/150 he got. Maybe Toronto overpaid - we'll have to see how that works out - but understandable that the Sox were out at that price, especially given the loss of the pick. And Toronto is certainly better positioned to take on that...

Might as well start talking about 2021

I know many folks around here are skeptical about their chances to compete even for a wild card this year (and I think we're still at least one solid SP and a couple of bullpen pieces away), but I think they should really be considering Springer. From MLBTrade Rumors today: Earlier this...

Who should start for this team in 2021?

My understanding is that the Yankees are now only about $15m under the CBT after the DJL signing. If that's the case, then that might constrain how far they might go on Kluber, IF resetting the cap is important to them. This might be one instance where the Sox have a financial advantage over NYY.

RedSox have been in serious trade talks with multiple teams about OF Andrew Benintendi

All I can say is that if they are trading Beni they better get a mid-rotation SP back (current or MLB-ready prospect). Otherwise I don't see the point of doing this.

RedSox have been in serious trade talks with multiple teams about OF Andrew Benintendi

This is what makes sense, that Bloom is exploring any/all avenues to upgrade SP. I don't think this necessarily indicates that he really wants to trade Beni, but it's one of the options that has to be explored as an alternative to the FA market (since there's no guarantee that they can get the...

RedSox have been in serious trade talks with multiple teams about OF Andrew Benintendi

I think this is probably the case - for example, if Bloom is talking to Cincy about a deal for Castillo, and we have to take Moustakas and/or Castellanos back, then I could see how Benny might be one of the (many) pieces going back, especially since he's from that area so maybe the Reds see that...

Who should start for this team in 2021?

I guess we know now why the Mets were out on Sugano. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30668781/sources-new-york-mets-finalizing-deal-acquire-ss-francisco-lindor-cleveland-indians

Who should start for this team in 2021?

Seems like Bloom has a lot of irons in the fire - Sugano, Odorizzi, Kluber. I'm pretty confident we'll end up with two solid additions to the rotation, whoever they might be. I guess I'd be disappointed if we lose out on Sugano because the offer is just a couple million short, but I trust that...
