Judge Orders Unsealing of 2017 MLB Letter to Yankees Regarding Alleged Yankees Sign Stealing

Wouldn’t he want to sensationalize it then? Instead, he’s saying there’s nothing to see here. To be clear, I hope it’s hilarious and humiliating, but I’m not hopeful.

    All Time Eyeglass Team

Relatedly - isn't it kind of amazing that Will Middlebrooks refused (supposedly) to get lasik? I don't remember him wearing glasses, but if someone told you lasik or glasses were the only thing standing between you and potentially untold millions of dollars, wouldn't you sign up in a heartbeat...

How will the Sox do in 2020?

Kudos to the true believer at 100+. As OCD said, it’s spring and baseball is here. We should all be overflowing with optimism and good thoughts. I voted high 80’s. They still have a very good lineup and some decent bullpen pieces. The injuries to the Yankees starters helps a bit.

    Only God Can Judge Judge

According to a Rotoworld blurb, citing Meredith Marakovits on Twitter, Judge is being sent for tests on his shoulder. Sounds like he tried to take some swings, and this is the result. I hope he’s okay. He’s a fun player to watch, and (apologies for the off-topic comment) I find myself...

    Red Sox sign Martin Perez

Maybe Bloom somehow got the idea that working for a big market team means getting the same fringe guys but just paying them a bunch more money? (Slightly more seriously - how frustrating it must be for Bloom to be finally working for a monied franchise, but then be told he‘s not allowed to...

    2019 NFL: News & Transactions

Nick Foles was benched yesterday, likely for the rest of the year. Not especially remarkable, other than how irksome it is that a career journeyman played out of his gourd first 60 minutes one fateful February.

2019 Game Ball Thread: Wk. 11 at Eagles

Thanks DD and BJE. Yeah, I guess it’s too broad of a brush stroke to say that they struggled on D in the first quarter. To contribute to the thread, I’d give my game ball to Bailey. It also seemed like Brooks was much more of a presence than in previous games, late penalty notwithstanding.

2019 Game Ball Thread: Wk. 11 at Eagles

Can someone more knowledgeable than me explain what adjustment(s) the Patriots made after that first quarter? I don't recall Romo mentioning anything, other than on a few specific plays (i.e. dropping into cover-2 when Ertz was out). Was the improved defensive effort attributable to an...

Wait. Is is “tidy” whities?! I always thought of it as “tighty whities”. Did I just learn something?!

    Week 3 Game Thread

This bummed me out watching the game. Lewis is so fun to watch and he never gets used, even when whatever else the Tennessee offense is trying is not working.

The Game Ball Thread: SB vs Rams

Edelman gets the game ball - for yelling “CLEAR OUT!!” at the top of his lungs on almost all of those Hekker punts. Think that was drilled in a bit the last 2 weeks?

The Game Ball Thread: Week 8 at Buffalo

Flowers. He dominated early, keeping the (admittedly weak) Bills offense stalled while the Pats got on track themselves.

    World Baseball Classic 2017

Does anyone know if the games will be streamed online? And if so, will they be available via an subscription? I looked around the other day and could not find the answer. EDIT: Apologies - is now showing that premium subscribers can watch the WBC games live.

    2016-17 General MLB Offseason Thread

WAR does incorporate a leverage index for relievers. At least, fWAR does (the Fangraphs authors frequently make that point), and I believe that the only difference between theirs and B-Ref is that B-Ref uses RA9, so rWAR likely accounts for leverage as well (but I could be wrong about that).
