The Plan For the #1, er, #3 Overall Pick?

I find this hard to believe. If Ainge were to trade for Butler before free agency, it's going to be very difficult to clear the cap space needed to sign Hayward.

The Plan For the #1, er, #3 Overall Pick?

He would get an honest answer because those teams would actually want the #3 pick, and they know there is a good chance he will have it come draft night. I fail to see how other GMs have anything to lose telling Ainge what they would give up for the #3 pick if he were to acquire it.

The Plan For the #1, er, #3 Overall Pick?

Ainge doesn't need the 3rd pick in is hands to ask around and see what he could get for it. The whole league knows he might end up with the 3rd pick on draft night.

The Plan For the #1, er, #3 Overall Pick?

I think my biggest question with this trade is why now? Why not at least wait until draft night and see how desperate Philly gets? Really wish the return was the unprotected Laker's 2018, and if it falls outside of the top 5, Philly has to convey Sacramento 2019 in addition Philly '18.

Fast forward to legitimate title contention...

I don't think these points carry as much weight when taken in context of the current state of the NBA and the state of the Celtics. There are 2 dominant teams, and while I don't think the Cavs are totally insurmountable for the Celtics, I find it very hard to see a scenario where the Celtics...

Fast forward to legitimate title contention...

I thought this was an interesting article making a case for an option that hasn't received much consideration: http://www.celticshub.com/2017/06/02/take-celtics-win-title-todays-nba/ cliffs: The Celtics should be eyeing the 2019/20 season and beyond as when their title window opens. Trading...

    How to stop the tankathon

If the lottery system was still intact as well, I think the type of tanking where coaches and front offices are intentionally trying to lose would be all but gone. The chance of landing the better pick in the following year from the 5th worst record to the 1st worst record would be fairly...

    How to stop the tankathon

Implementing it would be a problem. It would probably have to be some kind of random lottery, possibly weighted to prevent top teams from getting a high pick.

    How to stop the tankathon

The team with with the worst record gets first choice at whose pick they receive in the following year. For instance, if the Nets finish with the worst record this year (forget the Celtics pick swap) they would choose among teams like the Lakers, 76ers, Suns, Kings for whose pick they receive...

    How to stop the tankathon

Not sure where I saw this, but my favorite anti tanking idea is to make it so no team has their own pick. Instead, the team with the worst record (I'd be up for keeping the lottery format as well) at the end of the season gets first choice on which team's pick they get in the following year...

Bournemouth: It Took 125 Years To Get Here

A nice tactical analysis of AFC Bournemouth:   http://spielverlagerung.com/2015/05/28/the-rise-of-afc-bournemouth-team-analysis/   I had just recently found that site, all kinds of other great tactical stuff there.

The Zen of Rooting for Club and Country

I'm planning to start following the Premier League in depth this season, and I'm trying to pick a team to follow.  I have it narrowed down to Everton and Liverpool.  For Everton, I love the idea of supporting a smaller team that seems to overachieve.  I like what I have seen of Roberto Martinez...

    Omer Asik

I don't like any deal that includes a first round pick unless Ainge is really swinging for the fences and has a another trade for a star (Carmelo?) lined up.  I just don't see the point in giving up any assets for a chance to reach the second round of the playoffs and lose to Indiana or Miami.

    Trading Chips and Keepers

Joel Embiid is a really nice prospect at center.  He could potentially go #1.

Brad Stevens named Celtics head coach

I wouldn't be surprised if Stevens believes that getting a top 5 pick next year would give him the greatest chance of success in Boston.  Whatever Danny's plan is, I'm sure Stevens wouldn't have accepted the job unless he was on board.
