The family stuff does make my sympathetic, but whatever
Coach Bud no longer in Milwaukee. How silly does the Giannis “we didn’t fail” speech look now? Well, it was silly then and only a matter of time before it became sillier.

Jalen on ESPN saying the Bucks lost bc they really missed Darvin Ham. Yeah uh, ok.
I'm curious about Jalen's argument on Darvin. On the one hand, in whatever thread there was a ranking of playoff coaches and everyone here seemed to agree he was the worst. I don't know where I'd rank him, but it puzzled me that he was dismissed as he's done quite a good job with the Lakers this year, from motivating Russ to keeping the team together, to pretty decent Xs and Os -- the Grizz and Warriors are very different teams, but he quickly adapted to new opponents with good approaches. On the other hand, I fail to see how his departure could have been decisive for the Bucks....how would Jalen justify that?

Here’s how I justify Jalen justifying it.

* Grew up an hour from each other.
* Same age, likely knew each other coming up.
* Teammates with the Pacers.

He’s going wayyyyy out of his way to get his boy some positive pub.

I feel bad about Bud's family tragedy in the series, but this move had to happen.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nurse is hired within two weeks of today.
I could be wrong, but my impression is that Nurse is not a super well-liked guy and I'm not sure the way he kind of halfway quit before being let go impressed a lot of people.

Sam Cassell is a former Buck and has been an assistant for a long time.

I wonder if Ime is regretting his decision to go to Houston right about now...

Ujiri and Udoka are reportedly close. My guess is that the Raptors were passing on him after they were linked with him a few months back. As for Milwaukee, they have had changes in their composition of ownership and they are a fairly high profile team so if there is any hair around hiring of Ime, its likely to come out.

My guess is the fact that Houston is a complete mess and could use more discipline is precisely why Udoka ended up there. They are perfect for him to rehab his reputation and he is perfect for them in seeing if there is any future on a contender for players like KPJ etc.

If Giannis wants Sam then Sam is going to be their next head coach no matter how much any of us nitpick resumes. That franchise cannot afford to lose him like they lost Kareem.

Fox should be over Brown or same level imho
And the 2-2-1 positional thing is dumb. Jokic not on 1st team is dumb. I would have
1. Embiid Jokic Giannis
Luka Tatum
2. James Butler Mitchell
SGA Curry
3 Sabonis Randle Brown
Fox Lillard

The person who didn’t put Jokic in their top 5 was….Mark Jackson. Which is, sadly, not surprising at all.

I know he's both a jerk and an idiot...but why is it not surprising? Has he been vocally anti-Jokic for some reason (suspects he may have committed a moral sin)?

No, he’s just one of the stupidest people covering the game with a high profile (and a vote)

To put a bow on this, Mark Jackson was interviewed today and seems to be claiming he thought his MVP ballot was his All NBA ballot….(he put two guards, a forward, and a center on his top 5 MVP ballot).

Unfortunately, his top 5 MVP ballot doesn’t even match his first team All NBA ballot. Basically, he should not be allowed to vote anymore

I bet he forgot that they release the ballots

Everyone seemed to like him, but I don't think any coach in the league (who hasn't won an NBA title with their current franchise) would've survived back to back embarrassing playoff losses in series that began with them as the favorite. Monty, Nurse, Budenholzer, that's a decent crop of HCs looking for jobs. Hopefully Doc joins that list tomorrow.

So KD didn't like him, I guess.
I have to believe he gets another job fairly quickly.
Putting it on KD is silly. They have a new owner and Monty and Ayton had a massive blowup last year that it's fair to speculate fractured the relationship. Ayton's value is at its lowest so they presumably want someone who can have a fresh start there since they need him to progress to be a title contender and there are plenty of good coaches on the market. I'd suspect that the Lue thing has real legs to it just given the timing of Stein's report.

In what universe were they the favorites against Denver? Nuggets had home court, the best player in the series and a much deeper team overall. I’m surprised the Suns pushed to six games, frankly.

Phoenix were favorites to start the series (-130/-140 somewhere in there) prior to the injuries hitting. I felt this was way off also.

Grizzlies suspend Ja Morant from all team activities after another video with a gun on social media.
I get the big picture but this just sounds silly....Is there anything more painful to Morant than to not have to attend team activities on his summer vacation?

This approach is backwards. He needs to be brought into the fold and separated from whatever is bringing him to this behavior. Silver is an enlightened guy. I hope the Team/League can come up with a better solution.
Not sure what recourse the team has as they can't force him to stay away from his people and it's summer so what fold is there to bring him into? A team can offer services to him for help but ultimately the player will be responsible for his actions.

Morant made such a bad decision that there’s going to be another leaked article about how much of a problem Dillon Brooks was

The Grizz are just playing PR games, there are no events in May, but it let's them look like they are doing something. There isn't anything else they could do anyway, while stupid Ja isn't doing anything that breaks the law, team or league rules

Ja Morant has made it quite clear at this point that he's the source of this behavior. He isn't running with the wrong crowd, he's the problem. He wants to be seen as a bad ass gangster, not a guy who grew up fairly comfortably in bumblefuck SC. Hell, his friend filming has good enough sense to slam down the camera the moment Ja idiotically starts waving a gun around...hell, if Ja had simply followed his friend's lead and stuck to some finger guns instead of pulling out an actual pistol, we're not even talking about this. Morant has already cost himself tens of millions of dollars off his max contract (he was a shoe-in for All NBA until he got himself suspended the first time), and rather than learn anything from it, he's immediately right back at it.

Morant is a poser and a moron. He's got absolutely no one to blame but himself.

The team and/or leagues investigations only stems around whether Morant's gun was properly licensed and registered. If it wasn't then he's in violation, it is was I'm not sure he did violate any law or portion of the CBA.

I don't see how Morant doesn't end up with a longer suspension than the one he received when he did the same thing a few months ago. The question is, do you consider his official suspension, which was just a few games, or do you bundle in the "voluntary" time he took of in the immediate aftermath?
