I think it's basically a minor league move and they plan for him to be in AAA, but it's still a bit unclear what Cashman is doing at the fringes of the roster currently (and also there may be more moves a game or two in).

I just wrote about him in the NY bullpen thread, he had sick numbers this spring and evidently has very good stuff (seemingly a tweaked repertoire from previously).

Poor Bard. It’s a great story what he got through to get back to the game at a high level. It sounds like it may be time to walk away from baseball.

Michael Kopech season debut: 4.2 IP, 7 ER, 5 HR. Relieved by old friend Jake Diekman.

Kopech was sitting 96 in the first and steadily lost velocity over the rest of his outing.

5 HRs allowed to a lineup that looked quite feeble over the weekend in NY.

I was listening to that game in the car. Apparently Moncada is having the "best stretch of his career." BA over 400 so far. Same trade as Kopech, no?

Yeah, Moncada, Kopech, and Luis Alexander Basabe ( released by the White Sox last year) were in the Sale trade.

Oral history of the Red Sox clubhouses from 2003-2004 era: How the Red Sox became ‘The Idiots’: Manny, Pedro, Millar and the most fun clubhouse ever - The Athletic

Arroyo: If it was a 7 o’clock game, I’d take a nap from about 5 to 5:40. I woke up two times and Manny Ramirez was spooning me.
Curtis Leskanic, pitcher: I’d go in the hot tub about 6:20 for a 7 o’clock game. We were playing in Baltimore. David Ortiz put a big thing of blue Powerade mix in it. I couldn’t get that s— off me for two days, man. I was walking around like a freaking smurf.
Arroyo: Billie Joe (Armstrong) from Green Day is walking in the locker room and Kevin Millar is playing dumb and saying: “Hey, bro! Love the new record!” and starts singing “Wonderwall.”

Kevin Millar, first base/outfield: No, that was Staind. Mike (Mushok), the lead guitar player, I went up to him and started singing: “With aaaarms wiiiide open, uuuuuuunnnder the suuuun.” I was like, “Bro, I love your music!” He looks at me and was like: “No, dude, that’s Creed.”
Millar: (Julian Tavarez and Manny) had this drink. It was like whiskey and it was this Latin cocktail they’d shake up in this old bottle, like a big old Perrier bottle. They put all this stuff in it: a shot of whiskey, honey, lemon. Well, Manny had the idea of throwing in Viagara pills and didn’t tell anybody. We were all taking shots of this stuff and it was like: “Let’s go play!”

Honestly, the whole story is worth a quote.

Watched Kimbrel dance his way through saving the Phillies game and he was sitting 92-94.

Franchy is going to hit 30 homeruns this year in pinstripes, isn’t he?
I would put the over/under at 7, he will get some time in RF until Bader is back but then Judge will go back to RF and Stanton needs games there too, I don't think they'd risk him at LF or 1B very often, he could get some DH ABs as long as he sticks on the roster.

Also Florial somehow clearing waivers and going back to AAA isn't a great break for his NY future, if Florial starts crushing in AAA (he was very good there last year).

It is the twilight zone if he figures it out after all this time.
“All this time” is about 700 MLB PAs over 6 years, not so much if you look at it that way. It’s hard to get a bad fielder a lot of PAs if he’s also not hitting, to be fair.

Ryan Dempster and Brock Holt running the Boston Marathon

Dempster is likely to have a better finishing time as he has been an active runner for years. I hope BROCK HOLT! can finish the race.
“I’ve never done any kind of long-distance race before. We’ve done some training,” Holt said. “They gave us a little training regimen and we’ve been keeping up with that, not to the T, I think the longest I’ve run is about 12 miles. 26.2 is a lot longer than that, but I’m hoping the adrenaline and the fans will help get me to the finish line so fingers crossed.”

It's cool that Mookie is willing to do it, but the fact that he has to means this might be the end of the Dodgers' run in the NL West. They don't have the nearly the roster depth that they've been used to the last decade.

I assume on the Sons of Willie Davis message board they are kvetching about (looks up GM’s name) Brandon Gomes’ poor roster construction.
We need an official catalog of the "Sons of" fake messageboards for every team. My only suggestion is that the Brewers' should be the "Sons of John Jaha."

Although Joey Meyer and his 582-foot AAA home run at Mile High Stadium might be the most Sam Horn thing in Brewers history.

MLB Network aired a Terry Francona documentary tonight. Lots of great stuff from Theo, Lester, Kipnis, Pedroia, Millar, and Schilling, who looks like shit. I'm sure they'll play it a hundred times this month and it's worth your 90 minutes next time they do.

In more "former Red Sox" Cleveland news, Manny Ramirez will be inducted into the Guardians Hall of Fame on August 19th.

Is the over/under at 7 just for the month of April?
Stuck at 4, not playing much anymore, botched a ball badly in a rare start today costing NY a run, 1 for his last 21 and down to .174 (.665 OPS), Bader back in a week or so. 7 might have been high.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
As a note for those worried the Yanks had stolen a march on us via a canny acquisition of Franchy Cordero (and yes, the game threads bear witness to that). . .Franchy is still Franchy.
