As an out of market fan, I’ve been paying for Sunday Ticket for a while now. YouTube dropped their pricing plans for the upcoming season.

View: https://twitter.com/mysportsupdate/status/1645779260488007680?s=46

An “early,” non-YTTV subscription is about the same pricing as DirectTV had been. The non-early numbers are obviously more expensive. I don’t plan on subscribing to YTTV to save a few bucks up front on the Sunday Ticket package either.

$349 over the full season is about $21 a week, which is pretty reasonable. Not having to deal with being locked in to DirectTv is a huge win regardless.

You can get the DirectTV Sunday Ticket on a firestick with no further DTV commitment.

“A week” is a little deceiving
It’s more like for the 1-4 Sunday window
There’s usually only like 4 4-7 games and a lot of times you get to see two of them

this is good if you’re not in a market with a team and have no real favorite team or you like watching two screens at once (or switch during commercials/halftime)

For me, it’s kind of mandatory. Without Sunday Ticket, I would probably see 4, maybe 5 games a year. Patriots 2x, Thursday Night Football, maybe MNF and sometimes the Jets, but not always.

If I were in market, I absolutely wouldn’t bother.

Moot point now but I thought that only applied to apartments and colleges where you couldn't install a dish. I know I looked into streaming options for Sunday ticket last season for my outdoor TV and couldn't find any for a residential single family address.

That was my experience in the past. If the address linked to your credit card was eligible for DirectTv, you couldn’t get the streaming option.

Interesting take.

I find that amount to be pretty expensive.

I have RedZone...so I'm not sure the YouTube route is where I'm headed.
My first reaction is similar…seems expensive but when I think about it, everything seems expensive to me now. $20 does not get much these days. I would buy this if I lived out of the NYC TV market. I’m in for more than 20 bucks if the fam gets Frappuccino’s at SBUX. Taking my son to one game is easily more than the season package (counting tickets/concessions/parking).

As a fan of an out-of-market team I'd pay whatever they asked, so this is fine. I hope there's an ability to dvr games though. Super annoying with DTV to not be able to pause, go back in real-time to see a replay of something or to time-shift the game.

As long as xfinity continues to have the red zone package on their sport tier for 10 bucks extra a month I'm fine with whatever changes, but i fear a complete paywall eventually of any and all NFL content.

I’m sorry if this is old news because I’ve mentioned this like 10 times here, but you can basically get a permanent Sunday Ticket for like $200 up-front and $100 a year. Happy to advise anyone here on how to do it. It’s pretty easy.

I have been excitedly looking forward to canceling DirectTV, which we almost exclusively use for live sports at this point. Their fee program (allowing new folks to get the Sunday Ticket package for free while I paid $349 or whatever for the last 15 years) and they’re incredibly annoying “we put up your satellite, but good luck taking it down” policy upon canceling, have infuriated me for years.

We’ll be signing up for YouTube TV and the Sunday Ticket. Let’a Go!!!

A few years ago I could get (between national games and times the local Portland, OR FOX and CBS affiliates chose to play the Pats) pretty much 10-12 games a year so it made little sense (5-7 trips a year to the sports bar was kind of fun on Sunday mornings).

Now it's seeming like $350 might make sense.

I'm in a market where, except for blackouts, get Giants, Jets and Pats games. But we mostly watch Red Zone. We'll stick to that plan for now.
Same. I’m fortunate that even though I’m in the NYC market, I get the Hartford CBS station, so I only miss maybe 1 pats game a season (when they’re on the Hartford FOX station, which I don’t get for some reason).

RedZone is spectacular as a way to watch everything else when the Pats aren’t playing. Many years ago I had Sunday Ticket and I actually found it overwhelming. I’d flip endlessly between games and feel like I wasn’t really watching any of them. RedZone curates that experience for me and I love it.

As an out of market Pats fan, I always said the second I could get this legally and not have to rely on illegal streams I would.

This price is high enough I am finding myself questioning it.

I probably will get it in the end, but it's not an automatic.

I've had a couple messages about this, so I'll just copy/paste for everyone here :)

I live in Germany and stumbled onto this by mistake a few years ago. We use a VPN to watch American television, basically fooling a cable subscription to think we are in the USA. You can move the VPN around to all different cities. One day, I was watching a game, and something happened that made me change the city we were VPN-ed in, and I ended up with a completely different game, and the light went on!

We use ExpressVPN because they have a router that you can get that has the VPN hardwired into the firmware of the router. That costs $200 last I checked. Then I buy their annual subscription for $100, look for the game I want, find out which cities it will be shown in, and adjust my VPN to one of those cities. Then I can stream right on my TV from the Fox or Paramount+ app. You do have to pay extra for Paramount+ (CBS), but Fox is free. You DO need a cable subscription (or YoutubeTV/equivalent) though, but you are freed from paying extra for Sunday Ticket this way. You also need either a smart TV or other device (I have AppleTV) to load the network apps on. Although you could skip all of that and watch on your computer if you wanted as well.

It’s worked for me for the past 5 years without any problems at all. It’s theoretically possible that the networks will figure this out, and on rare occasions, one of ExpressVPN’s locations gets figured out by a network. Their engineers are really good though, and usually have it sorted out quickly.

I use it here to watch NFL games and lots of soccer that isn’t broadcast in Europe.

I can send you a free month of the service (I’d get a free month too) if you’re interested, but I’m not that worried about the $10 or whatever.

One other thing: I've heard that there could be some issues with Comcast - that you can't stream your Comcast subscription to your own TV or something? So if that sounds familiar to you or that hasn't changed, definitely do a little more research first.

I may need to do some digging. We have AT&T fiber internet service and I don’t believe our router is compatible with this type of thing, but I’m kind of an idiot when it comes to that stuff.

You almost certainly would have to buy a second router. We have two in our house - one is the VPN router and the other is the regular one. I'm not an expert on this stuff, but I don't think that the VPN router (it's a certain model of Linksys router that can legally be changed) can even directly connect to the internet without another router feeding it.

I've been using NFL Gamepass with a VPN for years once I had to leave New England for teh DC area so I don't miss any Pats games. It's only available internationally but it is cheap, costs roughly $200 depending on exchange rates at the time. I'm far from a technology guru and I find this pretty easy.

Purchase your VPN of choice (if you don't already use one).
Choose any European country/city as your location (I'm sure you can use any region in the world but I have always used Europe).
Go to https://www.nflgamepass.com/en, set up an account and purchase your plan (if you try to purchase from the US it will tell you you're not in a region that supports gamepass. You can't even view the plans logging in from the US). I've paid for it with both US based credit cards as well as Paypal with zero issues.

On game day use your vpn on your devise of choice, pick whatever server location in Europe you prefer and stream away. Occasionally a game may be blacked out with using, for example, a London server location but if you switch to Barcelona or wherever it will work fine. With the new European territories for NFL teams the blackouts may happen more often but it only takes a moment to switch your server location with your VPN to get around it and I have never not been able to watch a game I wanted to see.

Not sure if there are going to be any changes to this for the upcoming season but figured I'd share this as another option.

First article that popped up on a google search with more info (from last year):

I’ve been using NFL Gamepass for years as well. The only difference is that I use a DNS proxy server instead of a VPN. The DNS service costs me $19.99 a year. I also only pay for Gamepass weekly. Sometimes they have several weeks where they only charge £ 1.99 for the week as a blow-out sale. Plus, if the Pats are National tv I don’t bother paying for that week. I think the weekly standard charge is £15.99. I’ve never paid for the annual option.

An “early,” non-YTTV subscription is about the same pricing as DirectTV had been. The non-early numbers are obviously more expensive. I don’t plan on subscribing to YTTV to save a few bucks up front on the Sunday Ticket package either.
YTTV is not available in Korea. I wonder if they'd have a separate international price. Almost $500 without YTTV subscription is pretty steep IMO.

Isn’t there a specific out of country NFL package that’s way better? Gamepass or NFL+?

Bought the Sunday ticket and threw in the Red Zone, too, because it's so reasonable.

I have Spectrum cable, too, so if I'm home I will watch Red Zone on cable because there is no delay but now I can watch Red Zone no matter where I am, which is pretty legit.

289 bucks is a steal. I am unclear on if you can stream multiple out of market games or you only get one. With Direct TV, you got one and one only. If you can get multiple, that would be legendary. Regardless, Direct TV online was horrendous in every way, so it is guaranteed to improve with Google.

edit - I did a little Googling. Heh. Looks like you can do two concurrent Sunday Ticket streams, which is pretty solid. And it looks like they are going to offer split screen options, too, so you could put multiple games on one screen.

Has anyone tried out whether they can sign up for YTTV and just cancel after getting the subscriber pricing? I pretty much exclusively watch Pats games so 249/289 is probably the outer bounds of what I'd be willing to pay, but I don't really need the YTTV service either.

No, you can't do that. One of the terms of service as I was subscribing said I had to remain a YTTV subscriber through the season to keep the discount.

Yeah, YTTV was beta testing multiple screens during the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament and it was pretty cool to have 4 games on at once.

I need to figure this out.
I am in Austria so my Gamepass was also migrated to DAZN. I don't currently have an active DAZN subscription, but Gamepass functions independently, so I'm actually thinking you could just continue that way. If you migrate your account you can try if it works with the VPN until August 31. If it doesn't work I would simply purchase Gamepass in a different European country like the Netherlands. Don't use the UK as some nationally televised games there are blacked out on Gamepass.

With the changes to game pass international this year, I bought Sunday Ticket through Verizon for $350.00 ($100 discount for Verizon unlimited). It’s obviously more expensive but after VPN costs its not that much more than the total costs from game pass international.

Fanduel has a promo -- bet $5 and get a $100 code toward Sunday Ticket. I assume that means $349? Not sure, but for a $5 bet, seemed low risk. I'm in AZ, but the promo looks to be available in multiple states. You have to opt in first.

Just got that in CT so will be betting $5 on a 10 team parlay hoping that gets me pats tickets as well as the discount.

You’re correct. A $5 wager essentially unlocks the pricing available prior to June 6. Also the current best offer is $50 off, so the actual “savings” is $50.

I got my code from fanduel -- pricing for stand alone (no youtube tv) is $349 or $389 with red zone, which is I think what we expected. Not bad for a $5 bet.

Just as a little aside, we determined that the Sunday Ticket pricing was just too much this year. Previously, we got by on student discounts.

For anyone looking for a cheaper alternative, we are doing NFL+ Premium (80$US) to watch the games; however, the thing with them is you can't watch the games until 10 minutes after the final whistle.

We'll see how it goes; I plan on avoiding spoilers and no SoSH lurking until I've seen the replay. Luckily they have an option to hide the scores.

You can have 3 simultaneous streams, so I'll be able to watch the Pats' replay while my wife can watch her team's replay.

There is apparently a student plan coming in the next week as well. No pricing available as of yet but something to watch if you’re paying tuition for your kid (or in school yourself).
