If Pop was going to retire I think it would have been before this season no? Now they have a chance at a top 5 pick to add to the group…would think he would want to see that through

I think he's implying that Pop will retire rather than go through a rebuild with a bunch of youngsters.

And I would say he has already rebuilt before, he was rebuilding this season, and he's clearly having a lot of fun and (much like Belichick), why stop now?
I agree with you here. Sure, at some point he’s going to retire….but I doubt it will be based on any frustrations built up from rebuilding or he would already have retired. He genuinely seems like a Spurs keeper until he no longer wants to coach and there don’t seem to be any signs of that occuring this summer.

2029 2nd round pick and 2023 2nd round pick [least favorable of BOS picks]

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/transactions/2023/boston-celtics/

I'd assume "least favorable of BOS picks" means they will get the Celtics 2023 2nd rounder (#59)

Maybe Presti sells some of those 2nds to pad the owners wallet. The extra two-way in the new CBA probably upticks the price of 2nds
This years Celtics second rounder was traded to Charlotte in the Gordon Hayward TPE deal.

If Houston wins the coin flip with San Antonio, Houston pick at 33 would go to Boston, Portland pick at 35 to OKC
If San Antonio wins the coin flip, Celtics would keep the Portland pick at 35, and Miami pick at 50 goes to OKC.

thank you.

33 or 35.. decorated upperclassmen territory

decent recents in that area: Herb Jones (35), Dosunmu (38), Tillman (35), Claxton (31), Gafford (38), Brunson (33), Devonte Graham (34), Mitchell Robinson (36), Gary Trent Jr(37)

Trayce Jackson-Davis seems to be mocked around here

Jokic drafted 41

Just saying

Maybe we can get the eventual Horford replacement on the cheap.

If Dereck Lively slips to the top of the second round, or if a team wants to get off a late first for a high second and an additional second, he would be an intriguing understudy to Timelord. His freshman teammate Kyle Filipowski could be an interesting prospect too.

Lively would be nice, think those Duke guys go in the First

Tankathon mocks;
Lively #20
Filipowski #23

Filipowski is, I think, a really nice NBA prospect. Seems like he defends ok, plays the game well, and has good offensive tools. And he’s big. Would be a nice player for the Celtics if they could get him I think.

FWIW, People connected to Duke believe Filipowski is coming back.

Lively is a hell of an athlete and a defender…his offensive game is a complete 0. Like I don’t think he does a single thing close to an NBA level other than dunking.

Tatum and Pagliuca is my (happy) limit with rooting for Dookies

no more please
In the words of Kyrie Irving, speaking to a SoSHer with court side seats during pregame shootaround,

"Don't give no fuck about no fuckin' Duke."

I suspect Tatum may feel similarly, even if he's never so stupid as to say so publicly.

If he were to come out this year he’s the type of player on a rookie dea who could contribute to a winning team because he can shoot 3’s, is 7-feet and has a good feel for the game. The problem is that he’s be long gone before our 2nd round pick.

Anybody you draft at 32-35 is going to have some significant issues, but what about a guy like Jordan Walsh? Clearly has NBA size and athleticism, good motor, switchable, decent feel, only 19, but can't shoot and has never been able to shoot. The shot doesn't look super broken in the way that, say, Okoro's did but the ball doesn't go in the hoop.

Cultural hub of the universe
Daron Holmes from Dayton looks intriguing. 6'10, coming off a productive sophomore season. Tankathon has him at 36.

I watched the kid from Indiana in the NCAA's a couple times and thought I'd never seen a more slothful productive play er.

My friend who sponsors youth basketball groups at the Garden always gets me on the floor during pre game warmups. He asked Kyrie how he felt about Duke losing in the NCAA tournament, and that was hit response. Nice fella that Kyrie.

I don’t know, I think Tatum is way more involved with, supports and shows his fave ar Duke than Kyrie ever was

Wemby draft lottery is tonight.

Detroit, OKC, and Indiana are probably the most fun from a basketball perspective. Portland's injury history would make me nervous if they get the #1.

I think I am fine with everyone other than Charlotte and Houston. Even Charlotte has LaMelo.
Being forced to play in Houston with KPJ, Jalen Green (and maybe James Harden) doesn’t seem like an ideal place for a big guy…plus I am wholly invested in Udoka failing
