Grant is a classic role player. Frontrunner who plays well when things are good and is often leading the charge when things are bad.

The Knicks offense was painfully simple tonight, just Brunson beating his man and kicking out or pulling up. And we made no effort to stop it. The next hand in a shooter’s face will be the first.

Goddamn there is some Chicken Little shit in this thread. They had a bad loss—a really bad one, in fact. It’s gonna happen over 82 games. Put it behind us, on to the Lakers on Saturday.

Going full green teamer here but I don’t understand the concern. They’ve shown that they’re pretty close to world beaters when fully healthy. The only thing that matters is they make it to the playoffs fully healthy. Sucks if they don’t, but that’s the NBA. They’ve been rotating so many guys in and out of the lineup the last three games that there’s bound to be some rust. They’re tired. Jaylen is clearly not 100%. Marcus is out. I don’t know what people here expect. It’s January in the NBA. This shit happens. They’re 35-16 and reading this thread you’d think they were an underperforming team.

Nobody is really that concerned. People are venting.

Any loss to Miami puts me on tilt for like three weeks.

Edit: Plus my company had layoffs today (not me, but shitty and mood-affecting nonetheless). Thought they were going to come out tonight and wipe the floor with these posers.

It’s still only January. Losses like this one suck, but don’t matter much in the larger scheme of things. Keeping the top eight guys healthy for the playoffs is what matters.

35-15 even!

(Or maybe you were already assuming a loss to LA on Saturday and anticipating another shitshow of post-game SOSH commentary.)

He had a great last 3 minutes, but just had that one rim out. Make or miss.
Didn't he actually have a bad last couple minutes, preceded by white hotness to get them back in it? I thought he had several ISOs in a row at the end which ended up with bad shots / lost balls.

From the play by play
3:45 Tatum makes driving layup
3:07 Tatum makes driving layup
2:25 Tatum makes 12 foot shot, and one.
1:58 Brogdon makes 3, Tatum assists
1:28 Brodgon misses (wide open corner) 3 (I think Tatum made the pass)
:48 Tatum makes driving layup
3.1 Tatum misses 19 foot jump shot.

Great comeback in the fourth but how are you letting them get all those leads?

And Jaylen? Omg

I must be confusing it with OT then. Sorry, I'm trying to forget about this game.

It's hard to ever trust Jaylen at the line
He's definitely the guy I'd foul on the Celts if I had to foul. I'm surprised both were short, usually 2 misses means one short and one back rimmer.

But, that's kind of irrelevant. The game was lost in the middle quarters and half the fourth.

His growing chorus of critics may be right and Mazzulla may cost the Cs a shot at a ring starting now or down the road. But this sort of response from the coach feels like it means more in the big picture than this crappy, terrible loss. Jaylen Brown doesn't seem like the type of person who takes failure lightly. Getting a straight ahead up vote in that form does more for Brown than some of the other coachspeak I've seen.

Here
Jaylen’s much better when he’s in the moment and not overthinking. Free throws close and late expose that weakness and he clearly clams up. Damn, they almost airballed, that was 100% mental stress messing with his body.

Seriously! I didn't watch the second-half last night because (1) cough medicine and (2) edible, and so this is the first thing I've watched... but man, I would have loved to have this guy in my corner when I was playing sports as a kid. Hell, I'd want him in my corner now.

The C's had other problems in overtime, but Rob's defense on Randle on the Knicks' penultimate possession was less than textbook. With that out-of-position bump, Time Lord didn't even get to the point of challenging the shot. That was way too easy for the Knicks.

Agree. Criticizing Mazzulla for speaking encouraging and supportive words about one of the team's key stars is, IMO, deliberately going out of one's way to be unnecessarily critical. Every single star player in NBA history has missed key free throws at some point in their respective careers.

TL looked like he was not into the game for a lot of the game--many times on defensive he drifts to almost below the basket corner and rarely challenges post ups (I know more Al's role) and I really like TL but he needs to do more than just wait for a blocked shot or dunk opportunity
