Mike Axisa posted the hilarious career splits for Adam Warren, keep in mind this combines three separate stints in NY:

Yankees: 3.18 ERA (129 ERA+) and 3.61 FIP in 407 IP (+4.0 WAR)

Not Yankees: 5.17 ERA (~84 ERA+) and 5.94 FIP in 85.1 IP (-1.2 WAR)

Old buddy Luis Cessa DFAd by CIN, he has been horrendous this year, allowing 26 ERs in 26 innings. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him back in Scranton in a few weeks…

I don't think that's going to last long, they have two catchers coming off the IL in the next few weeks.

Old buddy Miguel Andujar was DFAd again by PIT today.

And Thairo Estrada is having an incredible season for the Giants, curious to see if he can keep it up.

Wow, Jameson Taillon has been awful for the Cubs, just 26.2 innings total in 7 starts and a 8.10 ERA.

He's such a boring pitcher. Completely average arsenal with good control. My main memory is him constantly giving up hard contact but kind of surviving it more often than not.

Yeah, just saying he had a 3.84 career ERA coming into this season, 143 career starts. So far this year he's been worse than Schmidt (6.00 ERA) or Brito (5.58), for some current Yankee context.

It feels like a lot of guys who were free agents this past off-season have been terrible. Certainly seems like largely sitting out the free agent frenzy is the wise move, even if it’s frustrating to watch in real time.

There are exceptions, Bloom seems very smart for jumping on Yoshida, but in general I've been saying this for a while. The current Padres and Mets are testaments to how spending like a drunken sailor is often not the smart way to go.

Now the Padres have signed Sanchez, glad he missed their series in the Bronx this past weekend.

Orioles sign Aaron Hicks, to fill in for an injured Mullins.

Hicks with a homer and 4 RBI in Orioles’ 8-6 win over Tampa on Tuesday night. Hitting .340 with an OPS of 1.048 over 53 ABs. Seems more relaxed with Orioles as he is no longer fighting for a starting job.

Mike Tauchman is on pace for another magical partial season like he had with NY in 2019 (4.0 bWAR in 296 PAs), this year he is at 1.3 bWAR in 118 PAs.

In between, he became completely incapable of hitting fastballs grooved down the middle, was dumped by two teams, played in Korea, came back this year for the Cubs AAA team and has been up since May 19, doing Mike Tauchman things again.

I usually am happier when former Yankees do poorly but I hope Tauchman keeps it going, always liked him.

Former Jon abbey binky Luis Medina with another strong start.
It looks like his stuff is even a bit down from when he was younger, he hit 101 in the 2021 Futures Game, but still it is the 86th percentile of MLB FBs so far this year, averaging 96.1.

Gary Sanchez just hit his 13th bomb of the season. His average is still terrible (.205), but he has more homers than all Yankees catchers combined.

Edit: To add to that, he has done that in 171 at bats. The Yankees catchers have 346 at bats and 10 home runs.

Second edit: He just hit his 14th in 172 at bats.

No Yankee fan reading this will believe me, but after Aroldis Chapman melted down trying to protect a 2-1 lead last night in a crucial game, I decided to check his career postseason numbers for NY. And they were fantastic!!!

He pitched in 17 postseason games for NY between 2017-2020, 21 12 4 4 8 37. 14 of the 17 games were scoreless, 1.71 ERA, 2.04 FIP, .501 OPS allowed.

So, yeah, we all understandably remember the season-ending Altuve and Brousseau HRs in 2019 and 2020 (3 of the 4 postseason ERs he allowed for NY), but he was way way way more reliable than I remembered.

Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar both dropped off their current team's 40 man rosters, I wonder if there is an alternate universe where either or both are thriving.

Add Mike Ford to those two, they can all go golfing together.

Just saw that YES is trying to add Bernie to its broadcast team for upcoming season and I, for one, hope he goes for it. Not only because he's one of my all-time top five favorite players but he just seems so intelligent and thoughtful - the antithesis of all the loudmouth hot-take screaming heads that make my dog hide.

Apparently the plan is to start him off on pre- and post-game shows instead of tossing him into games right away. Unfortunately, being outside their broadcast area I don't get to see the studio portions but think he'll be good at this.
