Is there drinking near by or in the stadium ? (near by as in walking) I rarely go to Storrs.

Any thoughts on traffic getting in or out ?

I am going to the game on January 21 against Umass and thought someone here might know.
The only place I go to at Uconn is the Ice Cream store.

Sad to think UConn Hockey is better than Umass now ?

I literally just drove by the building. It looks UNBELIEVABLE.

BUT...... it's a nightmare in terms of parking. Very small road (Jim Calhoun Way) in and out means traffic will be a pain.

There's a bar called Ted's which is 0.9 miles from the new ice arena.

I haven’t been to Ted’s in 14 years so I just checked their website. They have a pretty good beer selection including Fuzzy Baby Ducks on tap. That would be my pick.

Season ticket holder here - can’t wait to see the new place tomorrow. And no I’m not in those obstructed seats lol.
I’ve only been to campus a handful of times since I graduated in mid 90s. What are there for bars besides Teds in the event Teds is packed for pregame? Is Huskies still there? Civic Pub across the street?

I'm sure it's fine but it's too small and obstructed view seats. How does this happen.

The real sad thing is that elsewhere in CT, Sacred Heart appears to have managed to built an arena with way more seats for roughly the same cost. No weird obstructions that I can see either. It is a bit of a buzzkill for how far the UConn hockey program has come in a short amount of time.

Huskies is still there, but looks like it moved over to the Sgt. Peps plaza where Thirsty Dog was in my day. Civic Pub was already gone when I started there in ‘05.

Edit: Looks like Civic Pub was also in that Thirsty Dog/new Huskies space. Amazing they can’t seem to keep more than two bars in business on campus.

That Sacred Heart arena looks really nice. I wonder which State Official's buddies were the architect and builder who got the UConn contract?

That SH rink looks impressive. And 4k seats!

QU’s holds about 3200 plus standing room above the seats around the entire bowl. Been a QU season ticket holder for over a decade - it’s a nice facility/set up.

What was UConn thinking, with the smaller capacity? And obstructed view seats in an arena that small, with that budget? Yikes. But it does look nice. The state will insist they keep playing games at the XL, of course. Plenty of seats available there.

I’m rooting for all the CT teams to do well, so this overall this support and new construction is a great thing. Yale’s barn also has some quirky old school awesomeness.

It’s great UCOnn is in Hockey East. And doing so well of late.

I live 5 minutes from the new SHU arena. Bought season tickets and went to the opener last night. The place is amazing. Bright, modern, wide concourses, ample concessions, not a bad seat in the place. Arena was sold out last night with 4,100 people. And all this for an Atlantic Hockey program.

I don’t want to judge the new UConn place without going there, but the pics make it look nice but flawed. Seems like a shame for a program that’s really improved.

My kids went to the women's hockey game in the new UConn arena on Saturday and LOVED it. Said it was amazing, and those obstructed seats were just a couple, in the student section. Said it was electric and the place was awesome in every way.

The UConn place was great. Definitely areas where they can easily increase capacity and I’m sure they will over the next 1-2 years.

Of course UConn shot themselves in the foot over the last 10 minutes and cost themselves a win but other than that.
