NFLPA accuses NFL of collusion

The NFL Players Association recently filed a claim alleging that clubs and the NFL have colluded to prevent teams from offering fully guaranteed contracts to players.

The NFLPA alleges that league owners and/or executives discussed not agreeing to any further player contracts with fully guaranteed salaries before, during and after the owners meeting held in Minneapolis on Aug. 9, according to a memo obtained by The Athletic. The NFLPA has asked the arbitrator to award damages and to permit "certain quarterbacks who have been adversely affected by the collusive agreement to terminate their current player contracts."

“The Cardinals have relieved offensive line coach/running game coordinator Sean Kugler of his duties following an incident in Mexico City on Saturday night, per coach Kliff Kingsbury.”

Can’t wait to hear more about this. Tequila? Women? Combination of the two?

It was truly brilliant of Arizona to extend both Kliff and Kyler this offseason.

Kyler is getting worse and he is too small, so his game will not age well in the NFL. Kliff is just in over his head in all regards. All the money and Arizona is going to have to start over again.

They can change the coach, but they're stuck with Kyler

I wonder if Arizona would be a dark horse candidate for Sean Payton's next gig. He loves mobile QBs, there are pieces in place on both sides of the ball ... and we don't really know how much of the dysfunction is Kingsbury's fault

It’s definitely a situation that could be revived pretty quickly if one is a believer in Kyler. Hopkins is losing speed but he’s such a good route runner with great hands that I see a Cris Carter aging curve here.

I assumed a donkey show was involved.

Oh wait, this is about an OFF FIELD incident. My bad.

Yeah, this is rough:

Kugler is the second Cardinals assistant coach to be accused of assaulting a woman this year.

In May, former running backs coach James Saxon turned himself in to Indiana police after assaulting a woman in her Indianapolis home. He was sentenced in October to one year in jail, which was suspended, and given one year of probation.

Saxon kept his job with the Cardinals until his arrest became public Aug. 4, when he was put on administrative leave. Saxon resigned in October.

Wow, that's a pretty precipitous drop from game-winning drive against the powerhouse Bills to benched only one game later. Belichick just ruins Jets QBs, huh?

Too good of a team to be sabotaged by the QB. They have a championship caliber defense and a good receiving corps. Wonder if they go to Flacco or White?

That probably ends Wilson's time in New York. I'm not sure how they can go back to him. Jimmy G, come on down?

He's been terrible for 20 games, his teammates seem to hate him, he doesn't know the playbook (which says to me he isn't putting in the work)... he's really terrible, and his team is very good around him. They needed to move on to keep the other guys happy and build a culture of accountability.

He was a # 2 draft pick 2 years ago and on a rookie contract.

Can they get something for him in the offseason?

Absolutely. They got a 2, 4 and 6 for Darnold after his 3rd year.

Some QB desperate team will see the raw talent and think they can work with and fix him.

The difference, perhaps, is that Darnold wasn't considered problematic in the locker room ... which has to be a factored in by any team considering Wilson next season

I think teams will drool over the raw talent and either overlook the accountability issues or convince themselves they either have the right leadership group to work with him. I don't recall there being much debate about his draft ranking and being picked 2nd, that seemed like the consensus. There's now a 20 game sample of poor NFL play on his resume now but I think there will be a line of teams that would be interested in adding him. Darnold may have been a better dude in the lockeroom but was just as shitty on the field and the Jets got a lot for him (with less control left on his rookie deal).

Jets have Bears, Vikings, Bills next 3 weeks. Interesting period for AFC East standings….

EDIT: Miami faces both 49ers and Chargers away, and Bulls play both the Jets and the Pats… hmmm

Sure, that's quite possible ... it only takes one. But I'd think it would have to be a team where the coach is secure despite the team needing a quarterback.

If it were my team’s QB, I would hope that they actually do go back to him and use this benching to send a message about his attitude and work ethic. Mike White got outplayed in preseason by Flacco and #2 overall picks don’t grow on trees. Plus, Wilson didn’t have a red shirt year. Maybe they do end up moving him in the offseason (I’m told the Panthers could be in the market!) but short or White/Flacco going on some big run, I wouldn’t give up on Wilson entirely just yet.

Edit: hadn’t seen all the other stuff posted on the Jets thread. He does sound done in NYC.

Some guys are just like Carson Wentz. For whatever reason, they repel people. Wentz repelling people is a little tougher to figure out because he's not a complete asshole like Zach is.

Understanding why teammates hate Zach isn't very difficult to understand.

For anyone who is down on Mac because of his mediocre physical skills....would you trade Mac for Zach straight up, thinking that if anyone can straighten Zach's attitude out, its BB?

Russillo always harps on high draft picks at QB that teams have moved on from, and how they never really pan out. I think the best-case scenario is Tannehill or Mark Sanchez. When a team has a guy in-house, and decide he's not worth it, there's usually a reason.

I don't disagree with your point, though.

Time for Goodell to take away another draft pick.

If the background info is accurate, the best "attitude adjustment" you're likely to get from him is some Manziel-style lip service about turning over a new leaf, so no. And just to note, my disappointment in Mac isn't because his physical talents are less impressive, it's because he's having difficulties developing and utilizing his strengths.

Davis Mills lost his job in Houston per everyone. Kyle Allen will start against the Dolphins.

Talk about a guy who had no chance this year on a terrible team.

But Mills might be a career backup guy. He has been horrible in 2022.
