2 cardinals? Wow
I’d probably think Freeman at first thought
But Goldy was way ahead of everyone in SLG and Arenado’s (and Machado’s) defense was great at a premium position.

I’d probably go Alcantara as one of the top 3 (MVP-8.1 WAR) tbh but maybe that may be just because I hate Machado

Regular season award; they went with three guys whose teams exceeded expectations
I would have went with Marmol over Roberts

Should be Buck’s to lose though

edit: never nind
You’re talking about AL
I always picture Dusty as NL for some reason (playing career plus cubs Giants and Nats)

100% agree with the AL picks
Not sure who should win between Hyde and Servais
Sorry, Tito

Francona won a division with a record number of rookies, Hyde was at the helm of an Orioles team way ahead of schedule and Servais was manager of the team that broke the longest playoff drought in the game. Baker would have no business as a nominee with the easiest job in the sport.

You're right. Hyde it is for me.

The three AL CY nominees are 1-2-3 in ERA+ among qualified starters. Ohtani is fourth. Seems like "chalk" as far as those nominees go. Hard to argue with it.

Chris Antonetti, President of Baseball Operations for the Guardians, has been named MLB Executive of the Year. I have to admit, it seems rather funny when the only free agent they signed was Luke Maile and the only trade they made at the deadline was getting rid of the corpse of Sandy Leon for a AAA pitcher.

Good for both of them. Happy to see fewer incentives for teams to screw over their young players.

2 years ahead of schedule for Buck

Winning with 4 different franchises is very impressive (and a record) as is 4 different decades

Don't know what's more surprising - that Tito has 3 MOY awards in less than a decade, or that they're all with Cleveland and 0 with Boston or Philly.

Yes, it would be 2004 or 2007 that you'd think he'd have won it.
I don't know. Both of those teams went into the season expecting to be very good. To me, MotY should go to a manager who got their team to exceed expectations. I don't think any of his Philly teams qualify, for obvious reasons, and while I think he was excellent as manager of the Sox, I don't think either the 2004 or 2007 teams "overachieved". I think all three of his Cleveland teams that he won the award for fall into this category, BUT, I would also have voted for Brandon Hyde this season.

Red Sox managers have won the award twice ... McNamara in '86 and One-M Jimy in '99

I think that reporting got confused, I actually voted him 4th in BOTY (Boone of the Year), behind Bret, Daniel and D. (Boon), ahead of only his Covid-denying dad.

Judge wins first MFY MVP since Mantle 60 years ago! Well deserved, but that’s amazing to me. (Sox have had SEVEN guys win since Mantle…)

Not unanimous, as Ohtani grabbed two first place votes, which is ok, imo. Apples to oranges comparison….

They probably said the first Yankee outfielder since Mantle.
