At a quick glance, there doesn't seem to be a ton of competitive games that could affect the playoffs/division winners. I'm not including any ACC games or Big 10 West games.

12:00 PM #7 LSU (-3) at Arkansas, ESPN
3:30 PM #10 Alabama (-12) at #11 Ole Miss, CBS
7:00 PM #24 Washington at #6 Oregon (-13.5), FOX
7:30 PM #4 TCU at #18 Texas (-7), ABC

Am I missing anything?

The best QB in Penn State history (not saying much) should start getting serious playing time this week. Drew Allar is a 5-star recruit from Ohio, 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, quick release. It is time to move on from the interminable Sean Clifford Era.

I don't disagree, but they need some help to become relevant again.
100%. This is how I look at things:

Could even theoretically eat a loss
Georgia
Ohio State, Michigan

Controls own destiny
TCU

Needs the votes
Tennessee
Oregon

Needs someone else to lose
LSU, Ole Miss
USC, UCLA
Clemson, UNC

Needs LSU to lose to Arky and TAMU
Alabama

Better than Kerry Collins?

If LSU wins out that means they will be SEC Champ, or not? I thought so when I looked at standings. That would get them to playoffs, I assume.

New CoFoPo rankings:

1. UGA
2. OSU
3. Michigan
4. TCU
5. Tenn
6. Oregon
7. LSU
8. USC
9. Bama
10. Clemson
11. Ole Miss
12. UCLA
13. Utah
14. PSU
15. UNC
16. NCST

I'm OK with Tenn ahead of Oregon for now, but if Oregon shows out in the next couple of weeks against ranked Washington and Utah, then they should jump Tenn and be in line to make the playoff as a Conference Champ. Bama's probably better than USC, but results have to matter and 1 loss > 2 losses. At the same time, I think Clemson's results gives them an argument that they should be ahead of Bama. I think UCLA should be ahead of Ole Miss, just based on results. I think PSU is actually a good football team, but they only play 2 ranked teams on the schedule and they lost to both--Michigan game was a blowout too. If they can beat Maryland, MSU, and Rutgers to win out, that's a 10-2 season and should lead to them jumping the PAC12 and SEC West teams, who will necessarily cannibalize themselves with H2H matchups.

I think so. Size is similar. This kid seems to have a quicker throwing motion. Kerry could be a bit ponderous.
I like the enthusiasm, but Kerry Collins had an exceptional college career, was drafted 5th overall and played in the NFL for 17 years.

Let’s see the five-star recruit have a solid game or two before we anoint him the best ever …

I say that tongue in cheek but will stand on my feeling that this kid has the best throwing motion of any Nit QB in my lifetime.
Just having a chance to see a new QB after all these Clifford years will be exciting.

Collins had plenty of NFL players around him. Kyle Brady, Bobby Engram, KiJana Carter.

Looks like the Hogs will need to beat Mizzou to be bowl eligible. Although they get the Bama hangover opponents again next week

A pretty good first year for Marcus Freeman. ND will finish with at least 8 wins after crushing Boston College next week, and then a likely loss at USC. Still a good season.

Home losses to Marshall and Stanford, plus todays near collapse. I’m not nearly as encouraged. And I want to root for him more than any coach of my lifetime/fandom. But they have been brutally inconsistent on game day.

That might have been the most blatant facemask in history in the Alabama-Ole Miss game. I'm surprised the QB is ok.

Yeah that is 2 of those I've seen today which were maybe the 2 most violent facemasks I've seen . The Bama one was next level

Second half drive chart

3 plays, -6 yards
3 plays, 4 yards
6 plays, -1 yard
3 plays, 8 yards
3 plays, 1 yard
2 plays, -4 yards

ND has a great defense and special teams, but is extremely limited by the talent at quarterback and wide receiver. The Naval Academy was able to play man coverage often with no safety help and challenge the receivers to get open and for Pyne to get the ball out fast. It was a disaster. (This was very similar to Marshall’s game plan.)

Now the current coaching staff isn’t responsible for the wide receivers talent gap and indeed more talented players already are on the way.

Quarterback recruiting is less clear. CJ Carr is committed for 2024, but 2023 is empty. Rees is partially responsible for the bad QB room through poor evaluations (Buchner over McCarthy) and having Jurkovec transfer out. Freeman also didn’t prioritize a transfer QB last offseason. Getting a transfer QB should be priority number one for 2023.
