Yup he's enjoying this and throws an 04 Sox reference into his discussion of the MFY spitting the bitI may be wrong but Pedronschaude seems on display in the post game
Yes, the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs!Hey guys, I don’t know much about baseball. Has any team ever come back down 3-0 in the playoffs?
Heh, no, I’ve been saying HOU would crush NY if they met for months now.Abbey having a mental meltdown in the other MFYs thread
I know, I'm just messin' with you. You had like the last 12 posts in a row. I hate the Yankees but you're okay.Heh, no, I’ve been saying HOU would crush NY if they met for months now.
Thanks!I know, I'm just messin' with you. You had like the last 12 posts in a row. I hate the Yankees but you're okay.
I think the only important piece Houston is missing is Brantley. There might be a pitcher, don't know for sure.I'm pretty sure that this is the most overmatched NY has ever been in a postseason series in my lifetime, on paper and now in reality. If both teams were healthy and equally rested, HOU would still be better, but HOU is better rested, healthier, plus on top of being a better team, they just match up really well against this NY team.
Houston is a bear. We saw it last year. Thanks!

That's what people thought in 2019 against the Nationals. If Wheeler and Nola pitch well, the Phillies bats could give them a fighting chanceHaving said that, the Astros don't really have a weakness. I fear a WS title for them.
Very true. That's what people thought in 2019 against the Nationals. If Wheeler and Nola pitch well, the Phillies bats could give them a fighting chance
And it’s what people thought last year before they lost to the 88-win Braves. The Astros obviously look like the best team in the postseason by far, but both the Padres and Phillies could beat them in a 7 game series. That's what people thought in 2019 against the Nationals. That team brought in a lot of well-fitting role players at the deadline and went 36-18 after that before beating MIL 3-1 and LAD 4-2, they were very different from the pre-August edition. Similarly this year they got off to a slow start again before promoting Michael Harris, then they went 79-35 in games he started before losing to PHI, so citing their overall record I think underestimates how good they were after adding Harris.the 88-win Braves.
Clearly they should open the roof to let the fans uproar escape the Urinal and flood 161st or maybe offer a better all you can eat bleacher buffet to distract and otherwise occupy the ring starved creatures.Bader, in a sweet jacket(?), says that the misplay on Vazquez's ball was in part because the fans were too loud

That gang is usually loose and anything goes, like the other network with Papi, ARod and Frank Thomas on the pregame. Costas is all serious with too many statistics. Just doesn't fit.Didn't watch ... how did he do this?
We have space here ...I wish the .com was still going so I could write a Yankees Fire Boone article to run tomorrow morning.
Yeah, he had a behemoth cut right in front of him, that was definitely on Judge IMO.He definitely stuttered on the catch attempt.

That was more a play on the glitchy stuttering of the Max Headroom character from the 80s show. Judge eclipsing the ball definitely had a big imapct, for sure.Yeah, he had a behemoth cut right in front of him, that was definitely on Judge IMO.
Also FWIW Bader's unorthodox but typically extremely effective footwork makes it look really awful when he fucks up a play. I need to see him for longer than a few weeks but he seems to be right up there with prime Brett Gardner as the best defensive CFs NY have had in a while (and as guys who irritate the BOS fan base quite a bit).
3-0 ALCS deficits are not insurmountableThat last sentence is pretty funny though, good one.
They are not all created equally, the 2004 Red Sox were a better team than the 2004 Yankees post-trading deadline. The 2022 Yankees have now played the 2022 Astros 10 times, HOU has won 8 of 10 and it (genuinely) hasn't been that close. The Yankees have been ahead for a grand total of six batters in those ten games, all in game 1 here after Bader's HR, before HOU tied it at 1 in the bottom of the inning. They have so much pitching that McCullers hasn't even been part of those first 10 games, but he will be tomorrow.3-0 ALCS deficits are not insurmountable
I've decided to focus on the positive of Dusty Baker getting a ring. Guy's been a baseball lifer and close to winning a ring as a manager a couple of times.I'm on the outside looking in at this point. The soul crushing happened in Game 1 and 2 when there was hope and the games felt within reach. Game 3 and 4 feel like the last couple days of the Obama administration before 44s inauguration. Oh hey he's still president, it's fine...we're okay...right? There's 24 hours left.... Houston is the class of the AL and it doesn't pain me to admit that. It pains me to watch their son of a bitch fans celebrate, though. Houston fans suck ass. Who gets to win the world series, Philly, the official worst fans in the world, or Houston, my least favorite fans in the world?
That's crazy talk.3-0 ALCS deficits are not insurmountable
If this were to occur, I wonder if he'd retireI've decided to focus on the positive of Dusty Baker getting a ring. Guy's been a baseball lifer and close to winning a ring as a manager a couple of times.
So his ploy workedEven that guy gets it; I threw in a discount too for pain and suffering.
I got suckered by the oldest Yankees grift in the book; the Entenmann's Shim Sham.So his ploy worked
I mean, Boone has never been a good manager, but that is mostly a big list of nothing. I could explain it all, but seriously, who cares? This has not been a very good postseason for Boone. The decision not to use Holmes against Cleveland and the conflicting stories of his availability. Bader not knowing he was leading off in Game 2. The excuse making from players about the open roof, the loud fans. All of it reflects poorly on Boone (and the players, but they can’t be fired).
Weren't around in 1976 or 2004?Thanks!

Me too, it would definitely be the silver lining to a Houston title.I've decided to focus on the positive of Dusty Baker getting a ring. Guy's been a baseball lifer and close to winning a ring as a manager a couple of times.
It would be quite interesting to see Houston match up in the Series against Philadelphia - this Phillies team with Thompson and Dombrowski at the helm seem to be almost aggressively old school.Good thread on one reason why HOU is about to go to their fourth WS in six seasons (and the other two years they lost the ALCS):

In the old days Big Stein would have fired him five times by now. Charley Finley would have fired him again in the middle of the game. I can’t imagine he’s back next year but I have been wrong about this before.I mean, Boone has never been a good manager, but that is mostly a big list of nothing. If game 7 2003 was in Fenway that's a wall ball and there is no reference to Aaron effin Boone. If Boone doesn’t hit that home run is he ever a Yankees manager? Does he even get a announcing job?
Good, so everyone can shut up about him now. I've never been a fan of his act.
Eh, he had the bases loaded and nobody out, maybe Cole gives up 2 runs instead of the 3 inerited Cole runs Trevino allowed? If he leaves Cole in and he allows 2 the narrative is why he didn't pull Cole for a reliever that could strike batters out there. To add some substance, I was shocked that Boone pulled Cole to go to just some guy in the bullpen (Trevino) - and it predictably ended with additional runs. Was there really nobody else better suited for literally a season saving situation? Down 2 runs is doable, down 5 is a herculean task.
