Pretty sure the only thing I'm looking forward to from this ALCS is not listening to Bob Costas.

Regardless of the result of this series, great season for the Guardians. Exceeded expectations. Hope they breakthrough soon while Tito is still at the helm.
Up 2-1 with a home game left, doe, after a miracle comeback. And then everything falls silent.

Tough end but, yes, it was a great year.

Even though it was a disappointing ending today, I just want to say congrats to @Sad Sam Jones on a successful season for an up-an-coming Guardian team. That great Saturday night comeback was a lot of fun. And thank you for all your great insights into the Guardian roster; much appreciated.

Just want to second this, one of the best baseball posters on the site.

You Yankee fans claiming you have no chance against the Astros is eerily reminiscent of the despair over their terrible off-season. Yanks in 6, sadly.

The Guardians won 10-12 more games than I expected this season and I was more optimistic than most. They weren't supposed to be here and they were given little respect. I said it at the end of the Rays series, but this was the ultimate "just happy to be here" season… I mean, 1995 was the happiest I'll ever be for a team reaching the playoffs, but that team had a magical dominance that brought expectations with it. Obviously, anytime you reach the playoffs you want to take advantage of the opportunity, but October was really just bonus baseball and I'm glad the kids like Oscar Gonzalez, Triston McKenzie and Steven Kwan got to show a national audience what they can do. This core will be around for a couple of more years, and – believe it or not – they'll even add a few more kids who can play. I think the White Sox and Twins have more issues to address and the Tigers and Royals are still a couple years away, so I look forward to doing it again next year. I'll be over the end of this season by the time my head hits the pillow.

CLE finished 4-3 in the postseason despite only scoring 17 runs in 7 games (70 innings), that is amazing.

Do you remember when you changed your screen name? It's pretty funny that someone hit 62 so soon after that, Judge owes you a dinner.
It was early in the second half. I think talk of the record had already started and that may have been a subconscious factor in the name change. I decided Ford Frick's Asterisk was a little too Yankee-centric around here and I also didn't want any confusion that I was actually in favor of such things… besides, I was also tired of looking at his ugly mug in my avatar. I think I lurked here years ago under the name Pork Chop Pough (former Tribe prospect who also spent time in the Boston system and indy ball in New Hampshire), but when I decided to start posting, I couldn't figure out that account and went with FF*, which was a carryover from a couple of previous discussion boards, so I hadn't put much thought into it.

I picked Sad Sam Jones because he played for all of Cleveland, Boston and New York… and "sad" is apt for the life of being a Cleveland fan. Additionally, there's a slight chance that Sad Sam and I have a common ancestor from somewhere way back in the day in Wales. There were a lot Welsh immigrants settling in eastern Ohio around the time Sad Sam was born there and half of them were named Jones, including two lines of my ancestors. Even more likely, he's probably a distant relative of my old college roommate who's a Jones from the next town over from Sad Sam.
