Rethinking Barstool?

Carrabis is nothing without Barstool though.

He's not smart. He's not a good writer. He doesn't possess anything resembling insight into the sport he covers. He's a "personality" that was backed by a massive media company.

Good riddance though, because he sucks.
I presume he's not going out on his own and that he will just be pushed as a personality on another existing platform.

I don't understand gambling companies. I can see Portnoy and Simmons getting big money (either being acquired or via ad money) since they grew a fanbase as gamblers, but I don't think Carrabis ever talks about it.

I think they believe if they can drag fans of content producers to their platforms, they can turn them into gamblers.

Bingo.

"Hey, I like Carrabis; I'll head over to FanDuel and see what he's writing."

If you do that enough, the multitudes of gambling ads are eventually going to work on you. Just one bet. Which turns into two, which turns into ... whatever, you know how this works. Carrabis is relatively small potatoes though, one day one of these gambling sites are going to get their hooks into a big influencer with some juice and that's going to start a flood of real writers holding their noses and migrating to these types of sites.

I was at the garden yesterday and they had the various celebrities up on the jumbotron at one point (Mac Jones/Kraft/Mayo, Paul Pierce, etc.). They flashed to Portnoy, sitting with Hank, who flashed a big smile. He then saw that the caption on the jumbotron was Team Hank, and you could watch his insecurity take over in real time as the smile vanished and he stuck his face in his phone. Pretty hilarious.

One gambling site tried to lure Adam Schefter and Woj over recently when their contracts were up, but they both chose to stay at ESPN. They are getting closer.

Yeah the wrestling show is gone.
I listened to Erica's "Token CEO" podcast last week where she spoke of this.
Leadership felt that BS had gotten too big and had lost the energy they had when they were small. Had something like 95 shows which is too many.

So nice of congress to ask the pressing questions

Edit: I'm genuinely not sure who to root for in Jordan vs. Goodell
Goodell, c'mon this isn't close. Goodell is an asshole corporate stooge who protects his company's financial interests, Jim Jordan is a man whose contributions to society are covering up sexual assault and actively trying to make the world a worse place.

But isn't part of Goodell protecting his company's financial interests burying things like sexual assault as much as possible? That said, we are in firm agreement on who to root for.

I'd argue Goodell has also tried to cover up both sexual assault and domestic violence.

Forgive my ignorance. Who are the other guys next to Portnoy?
Players for Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur. Portnoy is wearing their jersey and is apparently a fan. The guy on the right is 6'2", for perspective.

Ah, thanks. I didn't realize how short Portnoy is. Is he like 5'7?

I get what's going on, but it was kind of pathetic to listen to Big Cat pump up overpriced ghost kitchen food as some sort of affordable high quality product they personally curated.

I never have been exposed to anything barstool before.... I wasn't avoiding it but on the other hand had no motivation to investigate.
Anywho, last week on my YouTube shorts feed I saw a pizza slice review and the rest of my working day was ruined. I don't know a thing about the guy who does them but the reviews are accurate and entertaining.

If you haven't try and find a couple of the episodes that Julian Edelman is a guest. Does a nice job tweaking Dave "One bite everybody knows the rules"
