Unfortunately, the Celtics' frontcourt (which was already a weakness) if even weaker now without Theis. I think the Celtics shouldn't be planning on more than 60 games each for TL and AH next season. They need someone else who can play a reasonable number of minutes - at least in the regular season. If they are willing to scrap 2BIGS that becomes less of an issue, but they haven't said that at the moment.
I'd expect IME to be guarded and not announce a thing about rotations/minutes/2BIGz. BUT spacing for the JAYs was glaring by the end. In addition to that, the JAYs were worn down to a nub since they were asked to initiate. Should see a lot of Smart, Brogdon, White on the floor at the same time.

IME will have to manage the whole "starting" thing, but everyone is getting paid and if it takes subbing guys out after 2-minutes in Q1/Q3 to wax egos he'll do it.

I hope to see fewer TL/Al combo minutes, and 2BIGz to be used situationally while saving them for the playoffs. Just note that when Grant replaced Horford (w/the other 4 starters) during the regular season the defense and +/- was just as stout

FWIW Bobby Marks already has us $30 million over the tax. Based on the chart above using the full TPE would cost something like $80 million if he’s right. Keith Smith estimated is at $20 million over after filling out the roster.
I believe Marks is saying they currently owe 30.3M in tax, which lines up with Smith’s estimate of how far over the line they are salary-wise.

With the Celtics into the $20-30m lux tax range, keep in mind that the Dubs are roughly $170 million into the lux tax with a total payout of $346m. The highest salary cost in the history of north American sports.

Yep, the present Dubs even make the Yankees/Dodgers blink

I wonder how much Wyc & partners have collected over the last decade from being "under" each and every season?

Just note 5 teams spent over $45M on the tax last season with the Warriors topping out at $170M

I don't know anything about the Warriors finances but the organization has done a great job courting the local tech community. They likely have a financial advantage of sorts as a result.

Their beat writer for The Athletic has them at taking in $700 million in revenue this year. They have a huge advantage over most of the NBA in that they can spend whatever they want on their roster and tax.

Makes sense. They figured out that most NBA players and VCs have a lot in common - mostly money and the uses thereof - and made it a feature of playing in the Bay Area. If that number is accurate, it gives them a big advantage.

Tomorrow’s the deadline, no? After Brogdon, can only assume they let it go.
Yes, it expires tomorrow. Part of the timing of the Ayton offer sheet might have been based on Brad standing by to facilitate a sign and trade with it. After the Suns matched, all of the air went out of that possibility. He may still pull a rabbit out of the exception hat on Monday, but chances are looking slim.
