So…if I wanted to go to a playoff game at Gillette - when will that be? Even roughly?

The Revs have a bye to the conference semifinals, which will be played on 11/25, 11/28 (x2), and 11/30. The Patriots have a home game on 11/28, so it will either be the 11/25 game (Thanksgiving afternoon!) or the 11/30 game.

The conference final would be on 12/4 or 12/5 (Sat or Sun) and MLS Cup is Saturday 12/11.

The MIAA has moved its 12/4 games so both dates are in play for the conference final. Seattle cannot host the west final on 12/5; they still might be the home side, but they blew the one seed. Internet rumors seem to suggest 11/30 then 12/4 as potential dates.

This seems crazy..
The November FIFA window always causes headaches with playoff scheduling, then add the extra time that teams that earn byes get. At least this year it all starts after the window, whereas the past it's been scheduled on both sides of the window, which really kills the momentum and buzz.

If ever there was an argument for a team winning the league based on record like every other league in the world.. this year would be it.. although as an American I do look forward to the playoffs.

I do consider winning the Supporters Shield to be a serious and meaningful trophy.

Trying to understand how this works. Pot A will play Pot B? (I'm selfishly hoping for a match with Cruz Azul).
Pot 1 will play Pot 2, so Revs can't play Cruz Azul in the round of sixteen because they're both top half of the bracket teams. The Pot A / Pot B parts I am less clear on, but they determine the shape of the bracket, so from your narrow point of interest that'll determine when/if the Revs / Cruz Azul could meet, quarters, semis or not even until the final.

A fun story on how Bruce Arena got his start as a coach ... at a Division III school in Tacoma, Wash!

https://theathletic.com/2986711/2021/11/29/bruce-has-always-been-bruce-the-influential-beginnings-of-bruce-arenas-coaching-career-at-the-university-of-puget-sound/

“(Bruce) and his assistant, Frank Gallo, they called UPS and the school just said ‘get home any way you can,’” remembers former UPS goalkeeper Ken Tallquist, who laughs as he paints the rest of the picture. “They rented this U-Haul moving truck, I remember. No windows, it had that little area above the cab, like some of them do. Guys were laying up there, or rolling around all over the place. I mean it was pitch black in the back of that thing. We’re hurtling down the road at 70 miles per hour. It was crazy.”

Game night. Let's go.

With a young child at home, I haven't had a chance to get out to any games in person this year. But that changes tonight! It's going to be a cold one, but hopefully a strong atmosphere. I've seen rumors of 30k, and anyone who went to that 2014 conference final against RBNY knows that a playoff crowd of 30k can rip.

One of my favorite events seen in person. What an epic night.

That said, it wasn’t a Tuesday. Won’t they have a harder time drawing tonight?

Can 30k fit in the 100s and 200s or will the 300s be open tonight?? Would be great to see the place stuffed tonight!

I truly pity American soccer fans who are too hoity toity to watch MLS.

Champagne football it is not, but mescaline soccer is also very fun.

I hate when announcers build up narratives. They were just saying how incredible it is that NYCFC could pull off a win in this game, what with the Revs being record-setters and not losing at home in the playoffs since 2002 (yeah, I was there - damn crossbar).

In reality, NYCFC has always had no less than, what, a 40% chance of winning coming in? It just wouldn’t be that wild for any MLS club to beat another in any given scenario.
