I have a Smartish slim grip case on my personal iPhone 11. It costs $12. It’s been dropped dozens of times. Most recently, I fell hard on the sidewalk with my phone in my pocket. Phone and AirPods went flying. The phone is fine.

I’ve had a few Pela cases and they walk the line of slim but durable. When you’re done with it, bury it in the ground and it biodegrades in six months.

I swear by TORRAS cases - have had them for several years on multiple phones. They are very slim and have a slightly raised lip above the screen so you can put your phone face down.

Walked into B3st Buy and walked out with a 256gb graphite 13 Pro in 5 mins. If you’re looking for one, Best Buy tends to always have them.

They make you do an installment plan but I’ll pay off next month and unlock.

My xR is aging not-so-well with regards to battery life, so I stopped into my local Verizon store yesterday. There were 2 people in the store, which I thought was strange since it is always packed whenever I go there. I was told that they didn't have any 13's in stock, that they were still doing the pre-order thing. Screw that.
I went home, opened up the Verizon app, and ordered a new 13 128g in red.
Verizon is giving me $440 for my xR (!), which they give to me in the form of a monthly discount. So instead of paying $33/month for 24 months, I am paying $14/month for 24 months. Not a bad deal.

I currently have a Tech21 case, but since I bought the red phone, I wanted something clear, which I couldn't find with Tech21. So I bought a clear Spigen case on Amazon for $15. If I don't like it, I'll go back to Tech21 ($35).

I had the same with AT+T and my XS (before the 13 came out). I'm paying like $3/mo for my 12 after having my XS for 2+ years.

Not sure what thread to put this in, but the AirPods 3 I ordered arrived today, they're pretty fucking great. I have AirPods 1 and 2 (not Pro) and these are a huge step up.

The same promo for AT&T right now is crazy, if I trade in my XS 256 for a 13Pro 256, I think it's $8/mo for 24 months. Nothing in stock until end of november though.

I needed new airpods since I've been using my originals for 4+ years and the battery was shit, then the airpods pro didnt fit my ears (even with after market buds). The new airpods are a HUGE improvement. They sound so damn good.

Do they fit markedly different than the prior generation AirPods (not the pros)? Seen some conflicting reports that the shape is different enough from 2 to 3 that it bothers some people.

In my estimation, yes. They all seem to fit somewhat differently (for my ears). I hated the OG AirPods - did not work for me, and were returned. The AirPod Pros are a better fit for me than the originals, but I needed to get foam tip pieces to make them nest more comfortably in my ear.

I tried the newest ones, and they fit differently than the originals or the Pros. I did not like the fit, and didn't care to fiddle with it, so I am sticking with the Pros. It seems like the sort of thing where you won't know until you try it out.

I've had the AirPods, AirPods 2 and now the 3. The first AirPods were great for the time, the second were a major improvement in terms of connectivity and sound. The 3rd is the real deal. I never had the Pro's but the fit on the 3's is great, I often forget they're in my ear, the spacial audio is fantastic and the fit is top notch. I've fallen asleep with 1 AirPod 3 in my ear and woken up the next morning with it in and sleep on that side and didn't notice it. I love them.

It really comes down to fit and noise cancellation. I love the fit of the 3 and I don’t need noise cancelation so the 3s are perfect. In other news I got the 13 Pro today. The speed and display on this are impressive coming from an Xr

For someone who is considering buying these as a gift for someone, would you go 3rd generation or Pro?
I’d go Pro. I really like the noise canceling and transparency mode. Fit is more customizable thanks to the different sized ear tips.

But PJ’s right: if this person doesn’t need noise canceling, the 3s are a great option. They have spatial audio (Apple-branded Dolby surround) + head tracking (sound direction changes based on if you’re moving and where you’re looking). The Pros don’t have spatial audio.

The Max have it all, but they’re ludicrously expensive.

I’m still using my iPhone 8 Plus, but it’s starting to feel like it’s getting close to time for an upgrade. Battery for this one is on the way out, and it’s recently had some sporadic performance issues.

I haven’t really “played” with an iPhone 13 yet, so I don’t know which one is best for me in terms of Base/Pro/Pro Max.

Seems like the 13 and 13 Pro is actually smaller than my current phone, but the screen is bigger due to the entire phone being screen.

It seems like I might have trouble getting my hands on a Pro or Pro Max in the next few days, and wondering if it’s worth waiting for considering the extra money.

Also, wondering the logistics of charging. Would my dozen or so lightning cables scattered between work, home, vehicle, office, gym bag, travel bags be rendered useless?

I ordered a 13 Pro on Nov 18th and it arrived on Dec 4th. The expected delivery date range when I ordered was between 12/2 - 12/9.

I highly recommend using the compare tool to get a sense of the differences. It'll let you select older phones as well as the new ones which is very helpful.

8+ vs 13 Pro vs 13 Pro Max:

Edit: If cost isn't a huge factor, I recommend the Pro. The additional camera options are great.

I got a 13 Pro yesterday, and I’m overall pretty happy with it coming off of the 8 Plus. The screen is gorgeous, and the speakers were surprisingly so, so much better than the 8 Plus.

A bit disappointed on the battery’s early results, but it seems the “Photos” app has been doing tons of shit in the background, so hopefully that’s an easy fix.

Took a photo of my cat in a poorly lit room, and it actually didn’t come out at all grainy, so they has promise.

Hated the change in location of the address bar in Safari, but that’s fixable. Can’t figure out why anyone would want to put the address bar at the bottom of the screen…

Struggling the most without the Home button. I get that swiping up sort of replaces the function, but there seems to be a right way and a wrong way of doing it. Usually if I try it 3-5 times, it will work… Getting better at it. It seems most finicky when already on the Home Screen.

One absolutely huge improvement for me is the GPS. I’m not sure if it’s 5G or the phone’s processor, but previously if I made a wrong turn, there would be a rerouting chime and several seconds of “rerouting” and often the rerouting process would be too slow, as it would tell me to take a left I’ve already passed. Not so now. If I goagainst the GPS, the rerouting is instantaneous.

A new phone uses a lot of battery charge just indexing data/downloading apps and data/etc. over the first few days. You should see a big improvement soon.

I found tbe Safari bar at the bottom awkward at first but now I find it so much more practical.

Exactly. I have decent sized hands and the reach to access the address bar in safari at the top of the screen wouldn't have been possible. It takes a minute to get used to it, but refreshing a game thread is much easier.

It makes all the sense in the world. The most likely thing you are going to next is type something, why place it at the top which is as far away as you can get from the keyboard.
