First imoressions: Chicago and Atlanta too low, NO too high (they get NFC East and Jets but schedule is otherwise brutal). I really do think Philly will suck. They seem like a mess right now. Maybe they will surprise.

Minnesota could be good which would hurt Chicago though. God, I cannot wait for Football Season.
u might be right on no chi and atl are wait and see

Schefter: Broncos' OT Ja'Wuan James suffered a season-ending torn Achilles working out today away from the team facility, per sources. James' $10 million salary for the upcoming season now is in jeopardy being that Denver no longer is obligated to pay him with him working out off site.

Me: That seems crazy in these Covid times...

It's part of a fight with the union. The Union asked guys not to go to "voluntary" OTAs, the league is playing up screwing James to beat the players into submission.

about the broncos this season

QB - right now i am assumeing no Rodgers this will be a 2-way race between teddy b and lock teddy would be better but i expect lock to start the first 2 or 3 games
RB another 2 horse race between gordan and Williams but Williams will be the starter by week 3 or 4 he has been compared to davin cook
WR/TE with jerdy poise for a year 2 jump Sutton back Patrick back and the speed f hamler this is a top 10 wr core and add in fant and albeit o
OL the weak spot Bolies is a good LT and reieser is ok the other 3 spots are worries unless mentnrz can start at C meri can play at rg or glascow can rebound and massy can hold up at rt
DL with Harris Purcell d jones they should be much better at run stopping but death is a worry
LB the strong point Denver has at least 6 or 7 good football players here Chubb and miller should have 10 sack this year Johnson is a hitter jewell and browning should rotate on the other ilb spot reed could be a shaq barret type in time
CB/S denver has 4 souild CB Calihahan can play the slot or outside darby a littie small but a num 2 type CB surtain ii will start by mid 2021 and fuller a num 1/2 type cb j simmons is the best S in the NFL had elway been GM i couild had seen elway refuse to pay him and bill stepping in to pay him instead of u signing Justin Millis u would had Simmons jackson is underrated

bottom line

without rodgers the celling on this team is the 7 seed and a 1st round loss with rodgers they are top 5 regardless denver has to upgrade in 2022 at qb and they are choies other than rodgers like

watson hurts if the eagles trade for watson tua if the dolphins trade for watson or jimmy g

to me denver needs to look at bring in jimmy g from SF after 2021 if the rodgers price is too much or Hou wants too much for much for watson

denver choies shouild be this

1 rodgers if they get him before sept 12
2 jimmy g after 21
3 watson as long as philly says no or does not offer a 1st rount pick they have 3

I was listening to the sports radio here in Denver today and, uh, they were really shitting on Lock. I think everyone got spun up over getting Rodgers and there's some (unfair) backlash.

the worry with lock is he is INT happy and trusts his big arm too much if i was him i wouild had wanted my relase and signed with Det or NO

what worries me about rodgers is the bidding war that will happen next feb/mar between den/vegas for him as roders has said he will play for vegas but david carr has said he would retie rather than play for athother team

my 02 after 2 games

the biggest diff is no turnover teddy and vic being more agg on 4th down along with the NFL number 1 CB and S

as i look at the next 5 games no reason why they can't go 3-2 or 4-1

Balt is too banged up and they are overrated
Pitt is WAY overrated ben gives me vibes of 15 petyon
the raiders and browns are for real

u can laugh and scoff but i expect denver to start 8-2 or 7-3 still will not beat KC but the AFC West should get 3 teams in the playoffs

Well well well, Jesters visit Denver next Sunday. So we either get one or you guys go 3-0. If we can not be morons (long shot) we might be able to keep it competitive. Somehow Jets D is way better than I expected.

Need to see the Broncos against a non-cupcake first before I go there.

Raiders first home game at SoFi Monday. Probably 80/20 at minimum Raiders fans.
The Broncos could have technically have had an easier schedule because they didn't play Atlanta, who has the 2nd worst point differential in the league.

But, man, they have played two teams that are utter jokes in the Jets and Jags and their third game was against the Giants. Who lost to the. . . .Atlanta Falcons.

Teddy has been great and Denver hasn't had trouble against bad teams, which is a sign of a good team. But they need to play a real NFL team soon.

I watched Denver’s first two games. The offense is still getting in sync. The defense is ridiculous. They just get a ridiculous amount of pressure. They don’t even need to blitz. Their coverage is usually very good too and their safeties are making plays all over the place. Jewel is such a fast processor as an LB. Overall highly impressed by all 3 levels of the defense but especially their DL and secondary.

The biggest issue I think Denver has on offense is their OL. Bridgewater has been under pressure a lot. Fant (TE) also can’t block. In particular their IOL has struggled and guys have gotten A and B gap pressure on Teddy B. He has also lost 2 receivers now… so to me the question for Denver is how close to average can their offense play? They still have Sutton, Patrick, and Fant and their RBs look good. In particular Javonte Williams is a beast. He broke so many tackles against Jacksonville.

They should be a team competitive for the playoffs with an excellent defense and somewhere in the average to below average range on offense. If the OL settles down I’d imagine they are more of an average offense but if the OL continues to struggle I think they will be somewhere below average.

jewel is out for the season which hurts in run def but might help in pass cov as jewel has a hard time covering RB and TE and Hamler is a gadget player only good to strech the field to open everyone else loseing jerdy and chubb is a worry but they shouild be back by week 8--10

yes the OL is a worry but muri is a good as glascow

if denver allows more than 20 pts in a game they will likely lose i see denver at worst 9-8 at best 11-6 before the season i had denver at 10 wins and as u did we both emabrass seattle and beat the rams the div is open as i see KC now as a 10-11 win team i think we will all beat each other up in the div so the key is the 11 non div games

Thanks @j-man and sucks about Jewell. Today’s athletic podcast (Wednesday) has Coach Vass talking about defenses in the league. He talks a lot about Fangio and Phil Snow. Highly recommend it. The bottom line is Denver has the personnel to kill people up front and has the backend guys to successfully run man or zone. He also talks about a lot of nerdy scheme stuff.

Quick edit - I’ll delete and post in Broncos thread. Sorry for the derail.
Posted here instead. Broncos are one of the teams I’m following to some degree this year because I want to follow their defense.

def has very few weakness overall it does suck about jewell he is the type of smart LB that wouild fit in ne after 21 i think he is a FA really the only wearness i see on def is D-Tacklie and maybe ILB denver has 70 mil in cap for next year if teddy keeps this up for a wholie year i think a new 3 year deal worth around 66 mil is on the table 22 mil a year patrick and sutton are also FA after this year denver can only keep 1

they lost today because of

1 INJ are catching up to us
2 without teddy denver is a 6-7 win team
3 for 2022 other than OL and QB they are close
4 the ravers might win the afc

denver has added LB Kenny young and stepten weathley

while i think now denver will miss the playoffs hopefully Denver shows a good foundation over the last 10 games IE knocking Vegas and KC out of the playoffs along the way

that a new coaching staff in 2022 can go to a run base game or whatever aaron rogerers watns to play as the only good thing about vegas winning is it will make them keep carr over the long run

as denver will have 76 mil in cap space for 2022

meaning denver can go all in for rodgers let say 38 mil a year over 4 years or keep teddy at 2y/40 mil or trade for jimmy g if gb asked for way too much
keeping teddy or getting jimmy g wouild allow denver to keep Miller sutton and patrick while upgradeing AT RT CB while rogers means we lose 2 of those 3

i think the new coach will be a off guy like Joe lomarbai pete carmiael shahe watlon but if patton goes def again it will likely be mike zimmer ugh

denver has so many inj right now esp at O-LINE LB'S and now CB'S

that said if denver can get to 9-8 i am starting to think u keep fangio and fire shurmr

denver has 71 mil in cap space for next season right now i am thinking this

1 keep teddy 2y 35 mil
2 add a vet RB to replace gordon
3 keep 1 of sutton/patrick
4 sign the best FA OT u can fine and move boiles to RT
5 draft a C
6 sign 1 or 2 CB in FA

go BPA in the draft this sounds a littie crazy but if cooper keeps playing well put chubb on the trade block and see if philly bites they have 3 1st's

Season review
QB teddy was good but is a better fit with a team like NE or a team that favor the short passing game but at this stage of his carrer he is a great great backup that can start for 3-4 weeks if need be any longer and his weakness are exposed
Lock is a bust great arm but little touch no pocket awr but in his def give him a better o-line and a deep ball passing team he could be a stort term fix for someone

RB best part of this team had williams and gordan not been stopped the last 2 weeks both wouild had got 1'000 yards boone is a good st and spot player

WR u can say they were a dispointment but with a better QB this wouild be a good group jerdy might be a big breakoutstar next season suttion is a num 2 WR but other than his time with drew in 20 has never broke out Patrick is a big body catcher K J Hamler might be a bust esp if his speed is leeser after the ACL Seth williams couild break out or be trade bait K Hinton couild take atother step foward in 22

TE Fant is really good pass catching but needs to block better to get better Albert O has a lot of potinal couild be used as trade bait for teams that need a te subert is a great 3rd te i hope denver can keep him

O-Line good run blockers bad pass blockers denver needs to upgrade at RT and maybe C risner meti can take atother step up and hopefully anderson can start at RT

D-line Harris is a leader can block FG'S D Jones took a step foward denver needs a upgrade at NT

ILB denver has went through 7 ILB'S hopefully denver can re-sign Jewell and K Young browning will start at 1 spot AJ Johnson might be a good fit for u guys in NE great run sutffer
OLB Chubb is a ? to me IF he can play 17 will get 8-10 sacks a year the only guy on the team that can get more that 6 sacks a season that said reed and cooper are great spot starters backups
CB Surtain is the num 1 cb drady is 2 CB denver needs a nickel CB
S Simmons will start at 1 spot Jackson is likely gone so Steans and J Johnson souild battle to start at SS

B line
with a Big QB upgrade denver couild win 10-11 games without a QB upgrade they are likely heading toward 6-7 wins
