How does Simmons feel about Brand? How does Brand feel about Simmons?

Even if it's not DLo, there is a deal with Minnesota that keeps Towns and Edwards in Minnesota.
Maybe Morey can send Brand over as a sweetener in a Simmons trade.

Lol Wolves.

What’s the deal with Rosas? That’s two times he’s been fired as a GM in a very strange and unexpected way.

DAL he quit, he didn't get fired. Basically on that one it seemed like from the jump, the amount of control the GM had vs. Don Nelson was more unbalanced than he expected, so he quit. My impression was that he quickly realized that he wasn't really the GM, and what he had thought was a regular GM job with Nelson as a Team President type role, was more of a AGM role, except he was also there to take all the criticism when Donnie's decisions failed. He wasn't interested in tying his future to Nelson's decisions so he went back to HOU.

Normally when Glen Taylor is involved, I assume its his fault. However, Wolves Twitter is chock full of rumors that Rosas had an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate.

Giving the timing logic would dictate that something like this precipitated Rosas dismissal however as has been noted here, it is Minnesota so...

It does raise questions about what, if any, impact this development has on any potential Simmons trades (assuming Rosas had inquired about him).

I enjoy the phrase "scene kissing".

I know not many people watch soccer in America, but that seems...indiscrete.

https://theathletic.com/2843710/2021/09/22/gersson-rosas-and-his-downfall-why-the-timberwolves-fired-him-just-days-before-training-camp/

Here's the Athletic article for those with access....

The affair seems like just a side piece. Reads to me like a power struggle that Gupta's camp won.

Most of the complaints seem pretty dubious outside of the hard to gauge ones about general vibes.
Long hours..... no shit that's every NBA front office
The Finch hiring.... I mean, maybe the process was off, but he's done well and they're keeping him.
Letting go a scout... I mean really.... that's your GM's job.
Not getting enough protection on the pick in the D-Lo trade..... it's a trade your star player and ownership desperately wanted, you have limited leverage, it's like the complaint that MIL gave up too much for Jrue... sure, if you don't account for keeping a star in a market that will never ever ever be attractive to anyone in FA.

Now, it could be he's an enormous asshole, probably is, but this seems like from the reports (they had sources who were pretty happy), a dysfunctional ownership group, a bad team, and a lot of people scared they're getting fired by the new ownership leading to an internal FO split, and the GM losing out to the AST. GM who will replace him.

The affair could be problematic given Rosas's leadership position on the team. Maybe it was the proverbial straw, but it could also be something more serious as well.

What exactly is his claim for a religious exemption anyway?
I don't have anything specific, just was mentioned in this article

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/264148/Andrew-Wiggins-Remains-Against-COVID-19-Vaccination-Could-Miss-Home-Games

The city of San Francisco requires full vaccination to be allowed indoors for entertainment.

Sources believe the NBA will grant Wiggins a religious exemption.

The San Francisco Department of Public Health said it would not comment on Wiggins’ specific situation unless he is granted a religious exemption from the NBA.

“We are actively addressing the matter of requests for religious exemption from vaccinations across many industries and will work with our business and entertainment community on next steps,” the San Francisco Department of Public Health said in a statement. “We will provide further clarification on this topic.”

Wiggins would forfeit more than $350,000 for each game he is forced to miss.

The Warriors recently connected Wiggins with an Oakland doctor who understands issues surrounding vaccine hesitancy. Wiggins remains unmoved in his decision against vaccination.

He has 889 followers. Clearly full of useful & super accurate information.

It's not too hard to speculate that KAT is unhappy, though.

I live in the twin cities and am friends with a few local sports writers/reporters. Have heard nothing from them on this. KAT did tweet the WTF after Rosas firing, but not sure to read too much into that.

I wonder if another team signs Carsen or its off to Europe for 4-5 years before a possible NBA return.

Can he sign a 2 way? Probably not.

He is still eligible for a 2-way as he has less than 3 years service:

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm

A player is ineligible to sign a Two-Way contract if he will have more than three years of NBA service at any point in the contract. A player cannot play under Two-Way contracts for the same team for more than three years total.
But he is more likely off to the Euro-zone.

LOL!! So unvaccinated players from Golden State can’t play but when an unvaccinated player travels to play the Warriors it’s all good? I think this virus has exposed some Americans for being void of all common sense. How is this legal in any way to allow one person to compete but not another?

Edit: Apparently same with Kyrie I suppose. Omg lol.

I think the rule is unvaccinated players from away teams will also not be allowed to play (technically, will not be allowed to enter the arena)

At least this makes sense. I was taking this response from the Kyrie thread as gospel.
I think in NY visiting players are exempt. Not sure about CA.

I don't understand how this is going to work. Can the NBA force players to sit out games in whatever cities require vaccination or is it up to the players or teams to just CTC to whatever governing body might issue a fine should they show up to play anyway? Is security going to physically stop them from entering the arena? They should just get the shot but this is setting up to be ridiculous if they don't.

Thanks for link. I did believe you until it was questioned.

Yes, it is in the article that NYC and San Fran will allow visiting players to play…….but not home players. Ok, this is 100% certain to end up in court and rightfully so.
The appeals court ruling in Deflategate basically gives leagues commissioners a ton of power to do whatever they want. It may end up in court, but the anti-vaxxers so far have been 0-for-whatever in court rulings.

I’m not sure what Deflategate would have to do with Wiggins and/or Kyrie presenting this simple common sense case to a judge to issue an injunction. (Not a legal guy, apologies if I used injunction out of context)

IANAL but Deflategate was common sense too (Ideal Gas Law and all).

Deflategate ruling basically granted sports league commissioner's wide ranging powers to set policies without having to worry about their being overturned by the courts. If the commissioner rules (which he has) that home team players in NYC and San Francisco have to be vaccinated to play, that rule is likely to stand, assuming it doesn't conflict with the CBA. And so far the players association hasn't made any noise about opposing Silver's ruling.

The Wiggins ruling came down today. Give CJ and the attorneys at least a couple hours, no? There isn’t a chance in hell that this is going to fly. Zero. I’ll go out on that limb right now. Zero chance of Kyrie sitting at home due to non-vaccination while Schroder is playing at Barclays. Zero. 0. Zero. Gilbert Arenas Zero…..Avery Bradley Zero…..even Aaron Brooks Zero. 0. Tyler Freakin Zero!

Well, the Kyrie situation is state law. The state law in question specifically exempts visiting players and does not exempt players employed by the home team. Unless you can think of a good reason the state of NY can't enact such a law (e.g. violates the federal or state constitution), then Kyrie ain't playing home games unless he gets vaccinated or gets one of those half baked religious thingies. It's not like it's the NBA inventing this rule. The CBA is irrelevant (though maybe Kyrie can get paid for the games he misses anyway) to the issue of whether he can play. I don't see how Kyrie gets an injunction either because there's almost no chance he can win on the merits.

Looking over the San Francisco city ordinance... it's basically the same deal though enacted by a city so maybe there are additional avenues to challenge it that I'm unaware of.

It’s a state law that is 100% unconstitutional. It is a clear violation of the 14th Amendment which mandates that individuals in similar situations be treated equally by law. I expect the NBAPA to be all over this.

I’ve spent way too much time digging into this stupid shit tonight. My position hasn’t changed.
