That was bad but at least they were a point away from qualifying and needed a weird result in another stadium not to. This team isn’t close to qualifying. If they get two points out of this round without having played Mexico or Costa Rica they won’t sniff getting as close as that team did. This team is awful.

I don't think the effort/mentality is so bad. But the tactics make no sense. This 2-man midfield can neither win nor hold the ball and is regularly getting bypassed. Sands has been particularly poor.
This. I’ll also add that starting players outside of their best positions hasn’t helped. I mean, we have three 6s on the field at once. I hate to say this but a Roldan or Lletget appearance wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

Lletget, Aaronson, and A. Robinson coming on for Bello, Brooks, and Sargent.

I guess we're staying in a 3-4-3 with Sands dropping in as the 3rd CB, and straight swaps at LB and RW.

Curious if Acosta and Adams switch positions.

EDIT: Tenorio says it's a 4-3-3 with Adams at RB and Sands in the midfield with Lletget and Acosta.

How did the US win back to back tourneys and now they can't even score goals against these same teams?

Realizing after that goal and the subsequent play that I’d rather take my chances in a wide open slugfest than play tactically and guarantee some result in the set of [0-1,0-0,1-0,1-1].

It's kind of amazing how the whole identity of the USMNT has flipped. They used to be the team that overperformed their talent through cohesion, organization hard work and physical traits, now they're the team that underperforms their talent while teams that are tough and organized give them fits

We haven't had a tactical identity since Bob Bradley, and even then he had his blind spots.

Who knows, but it feels hard to see where a goal might come from right now.
