Chiefs are trading OL Yasir Durant to the New England Patriots in exchange for the Patriots' 2022 seventh-round draft pick, according to a source. Durant joined the Chiefs in 2020 as an undrafted free agent.

The #Patriots are releasing DL Bill Murray, per source. One to watch on waivers.

The #Patriots are waiving 7th-round WR Tre Nixon, source said. If he goes unclaimed, he’ll go on practice squad.

Also: safety Adrian Colbert

Strange that the Pats are trading for an OL from the Chiefs of all teams when that appears to be a position of strength for the Patriots and weakness for Chiefs.

This is my thought as well. KC isn't real strong on the OL, and the Pats are really good, so it seems like a bit of an odd fit. But hey, if there's one position BB does well with, it's offensive linemen.

Meh...I was hoping he'd be WR 5. Here we go again entering the season with a stumpy little 4 WR bench.
Unless they pick up another cut from another team. For example, I've heard that the Raiders might cut John Brown. If they do, maybe the Pats would give him a look.

Perhaps....although if the plan was to have 5 WR why not keep a 5th and if a better one shakes free, then cut him.

Because they'd rather go with 4 without Wilkerson, but would prefer to go with 5 if someone better than Wilkerson became available.

IOW, they're not going to keep Wilkerson at the expense of cutting a better player at another position, but would cut that hypothetical better player if a better WR became available.

A lot of the moves today are calculations based on who they think they can sneak to PS or not. They might want a 5th WR, but if they think Wilkerson can make it to PS and someone at a deeper position can't, they'll go lighter at WR for now. Remember with the updated practice squad rules, they can promote a guy for game day if they need another body. Last year, for instance, they only rostered 4 DL on the initial 53-man but had 5 active the first few weeks with PS promotions.

Bill Belichick on WR N’Keal Harry: “Had a good camp. I’m glad we have him. I think he’ll make a big contribution to our team. We’ll see how it all goes from a time standpoint, of when he’ll be able to get back on the field.”
I know we won't know until final cuts are announced but this sounds like someone who is not being cut

We should take bubble players surviving cuts today with a grain of salt. Just because a guy survives today doesn't mean that he won't be cut (when a better player from another team becomes available) or traded (when rosters shake out, FAs catch on with new teams, and teams are better able to assess their needs) tomorrow.

Holy shit. If true, that is one outcome I did not see coming. A trade? maybe. Cut? No. They have to be in the market for an available veteran to back up Mac, right? Can't be an injury away from Hoyer.

I mean, we can assume it's true. McBride, Pelissero, and Schefter have reported it (among other trusted sources I'm sure at this point).

Yes, news was breaking fast when I posted. Stunned, TBH. But like the move. Mac seems like he's ready to dive in, and another year of watching Cam was not filling me with warm and fuzzies.

Can we shift the Cam quotes to the Cam cut thread? Every time this gets bumped, I expected different players involved

Now watch BB cut Hoyer so that his initial (not final) 53 has only one QB.
Get an extra injured player thru to IR, then sign a backup QB when one gets cut today.
This wouldn't surprise me at all, especially since Hoyer is paticularly unlikely to be grabbed on waivers and particularly likely to stick around and wait for the call post-handshake.
