Of course it was the lighting. Anyone taking more than a one-second glance at the photo can see that. But it's way more fun to take potshots.

And I dunno...maybe he does do botox.
Oh he definitely does Botox. No doubt about it. It's not a big deal, I know a ton of professional people who do the same (mostly women but some men as well). It's really no biggie, but it's still a little amusing. His TB12 brand depends on him looking and playing youthful, so he's naturally going to ensure he looks the part.

Even if it means having to tape his eyes shut so he can sleep.

A lot of people do Botox. Especially people in the public eye. You would be surprised at the percentage.

I don’t know. He’s in his early 40’s and in that pic he looks it. He doesn’t look weirdly plump or anything.
I mean, I don’t really care either way. But I could definitely see him not doing Botox.

Other than the corporate executives and a few of the most popular talking heads it seems anyone who makes more than six figures has been demoted/ let go/forcibly retired by ESPN.

I am old enough to remember when ESPN had that sports trivia show competition to find and hire a new sports personality. Dream Job? I think Stuart Scott was the MC.

I was a bit too young to experience the heyday of WBCN, 104.1 FM in Boston (mid-to-late '70's); a lot of people a couple of years older than me would talk fondly about it as one of those "you had to be there" moments. But I am old enough to remember ESPN in the 1980's, and that was definitely a "you had to be there" moment. Now it's just a shell of what it was.

Did I read that Tom was trying to make the argument that this team, which returned every starter from last year's SB team, had not won anything yet?

Which team from the last 2 decades are you referring to specifically here?

I completely get motivational speak. I am specifically questioning the logic of that specific attempt
How granular do you want to get here?

Technically, the 2021 Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not won anything yet. The team last year won. That was last year. This year, they are 0-0, so they have won a total of 0 games.

Further, you have hit the nail on the head. That comment by Brady is basic motivational speak. It doesn't seem like a big deal.

Final preseason game tonight for the Bucs, how much will Tom Brady play, and how is his knee? Saw an article somewhere saying Arians plans for the starters to play the first half; be interesting to see whether he is ready.

Well, that question’s been answered. Two TD drives, multiple highlight plays downfield, 11-14, 154 yds, 1TD. Gabbert came in for the 2nd quarter.

Didn’t watch it as not available in Australia, any insights from those who did would be welcome.

It was vintage Brady. Some timing throws to Brown. The TD was a beautiful seam pass with perfect touch. Super clean pocket to work with. It looked like him in OT vs. ATL in the Super Bowl.

I just watched the highlights and it's kind of crazy how good his arm looked. Dude was out there throwing ropes, not that his arm looked weak last year but those seam passes yesterday were absolute bullets, as good as any I can recall him throwing. The guy is ridiculous.

The story for Brady for the last few years has been, give him a clean pocket and talent to throw too and he will excel.
When either of those things breakdown he is no longer good enough to overcome it (not that many are, but he used to be).

Not sure if people saw this. Some great stuff from Tom that I found via Hurley.

point 1: Brady thinks the NFL punishes defensive players too much for mistakes by the offense (e.g. QB puts receiver inbad spot with a throw and defender lights them up)

point 2: pretty much everyone on the field has below the knees protected now except for defenseless receivers. He doesn’t like that.

I don’t blame BB for not letting Tom do more of this stuff when he was with the Pats but I can’t help feeling we missed out on an entire part of his personality over the course of the last 20 years. Although being a 44 year old guy with seven rings allows you to do things that a 20-something year old QB with 3 rings probably couldn’t have gotten away with.

Most of the comedy to me at this point is the fact that Brady hasn't been doing that kind of stuff throughout his career. He is just an ultra-accomplished veteran swinging his dick around and its great.

where I was last at
With the exception of G4 at Foxboro, where I hope the Pats crush the Bucs, (THE BUCS STOS HERE!) and the uncertainty of the Pats beyond week 17, I will have zero problem rooting for TB12 to win the NFC. After that we'll see.

I vastly prefer this Brady than the weird almost alien like Tom Brady for the last part of his time here. You can tell me the Pats are responsible for cutting some of the fun stuff out, but it got weird for a number of years when he was trying to be a luxury brand (That creepy ass Sealy mattress commercial for example) and the constant pounding of TB12 and drinking water to avoid sunburns.

I'm not sure if it's a marketing thing for him to be a real person all of a sudden and a Tom Brady for an everyman, but there was 5-6 years where that got weird.

To be clear, I am a complete Tom Brady fanboy, but at the same time I recognize it took Brady being Brady and Bill being Bill to produce an unprecedented 20 year run and six rings. I would not change any of that. There is some alternate universe where Brady starts with this shit at 25 years old or whatever but I’m not trading the results of the Bb/TB era for anything else.

it’s just somewhat surprising to see this side of him. But I agree with @Kliq that this is probably something relatively recent.

It’s no surprise, I didn’t see him wear a mask throughout the playoff run and Super Bowl celebration.

I love Brady, but thought his behavior was entitled and selfish—-and out of character for an athlete who has always seemed pretty polite and patient with reporters. Watching his Interviews on the field with masked up reporters right next to him made me cringe. Whatever his beliefs, he should have at least respected the fact that it may have made others feel uncomfortable and unsafe.
