Definitely getting late in the transfer window for Fabio. The French Connection of Aurier, Sissoko, and Tanguy are all still here. That's bad. CCV, Winks, Rodon, Japh, and Sanchez are still here--that's...unexpected. Arry's still here.

Might be a blistering run to the finish here in the last week. Or a wimper and a lot of squad reconciliation needed.

I love McKennie, think he’s kinda redundant with Dele. Very similar players as midfielders, in a way you can’t really play both of them together.

More from Romano:

View: https://youtu.be/8t2ijgJCZWs

I'm learning that he's like Woj of football transfers.
Fab is a funny guy. He had a family connection to an Italian agent involved with Barcelona like ten years ago, and has parlayed that into just a huge network of sources between players, agents and front office types. He's only 28, but has basically become the most reliable source in the silliness that is transfer news.

Romano clearly has some connections and in particular seems to have a real connection at Spurs (maybe Paratici or someone close to him) but if you follow him and others on Twitter for a while you notice that there is a ton of tap-in-artistry going on in which he just takes something reported by somebody else, doesn't source it, and blasts it out to his followers. A number of football reporters have begun calling him out for this.

There was a clearly a niche to fill for someone to become the Woj or Schefter of world soccer, and Romano has smartly tried to fill it.

Hoping it's just phrasing, but he said "this summer" and not "this season". I don't want to go through this in January.

Kane has been pretty consistent in saying that he wants to win trophies, and that, more than money or a larger platform, would be the impetus for him to want to move. Tottenham has shown over the past two years that they were not that close to winning anything, even with Kane playing at a very high level. If Spurs start playing well and Kane buys into Nuno's system, I'm sure he'd reconsider staying. If Spurs finish Top 4 I would be surprised if he left next summer (assuming he doesn't leave in the winter).

I would imagine the “positive talks” has to be about a significantly improved contract as you can’t claim a player is valued at over 150m and also pay them like a player half that value. The difficult part of Levy’s “No” is that his valuation never reflected what they actually pay him

Yeah, it has been said recently that if he doesn't move to City, he would be interested in a new contract with Tottenham, which probably goes to what you are saying. All players care about money, I don't think it's a particularly huge driving factor for Kane compared to some other players(otherwise he probably would have been more open to a move to a non-English club).

His brother will probably forget to put a release clause in it.

Comes out to a little over £ 17M/year. That's serious money. Is there a go-to resource for wage information, or do you just have to hunt around for team-specific articles? I just tried to look up the highest paid players for instance, and Messi is listed at €120M. My understanding is that his wages were closer €40-50M, and the remainder is comprised of bonuses, endorsements, and NIL rights. All of this is to ask--where does that put Arry in the world pecking order?

It would put him 3rd in the EPL, behind DeGea & Debruyne, best I can tell.

Kane had a chance to score 10 seconds into the game and should have scored.

Gil gets in behind the defense and sets up Kane who puts it home. 1-1 on aggregate now.

Winks looks competent out there today. I mean that as a complement, even though it's damning with faint praise.

Spurs look energetic. Kane dropping VERY deep to help progress the ball, but he doesn't really have to. Pacos look more organized now than they did in the first 10.

Gil is really lively. I can see him being a big fan favorite at WHL.

Yeah, adding to the Gil raves. Seems like he can really thread a pass.

EDIT: And now he just ripped a shot on pass from Kane.

Seems like a hybrid winger/CAM. Very cool skillset, but needs to be incorporated into a tactical plan otherwise it can ruin shape. A good problem to have for sure.

Kane again. He just jumped on loose ball, but.....awesome.

EDIT: Lo Celso did the hard work.

GLC is an elite presser. His awareness helped lead to that goal. Was super worried the keeper landed on his ankle but looks like he got it out of there in time to avoid a crunch.

He's one of our own?? He's one of our own. Until further notice, he's one of our own!

Nifty work by GLC to keep it alive. Feels like a hat trick is inevitable for Kane here.

Carty Free assured me that Kane had not done enough to repair the damage and hurt he caused Spurs fans.

GLC seals it with a thunderbolt off a free kick. Kane gets a huge ovation as he is subbed off.

Bryan Gil is so hyper on the pitch & I love it.

As mentioned above, he may need to play more disciplined as he matures. Still, he was really fun to watch.

I get an "early Son" vibe from him. I did not expect the speed and burst that he seems to have, I hope that remains against better competition.

That is a Europa League quality group, but at least they don't have to travel very far. They should still be able to play the Scarlett / Sessignon / Gil types as starters in many of the matches. Only one stadium that wouldn't qualify for Texas High School football.

My understanding is that some of the clubs in Conference League will be playing their games in larger stadiums, not necessarily their home grounds.

You know that my love for Son knows no bounds. Still, Gil has more burst than Son ever did at that age.

Come to think of it, Gil could be a perfect blend of Son & Kang In Lee, the Golden Ball winner of the 2019 U-20 World Cup. Same jitterbug style of play, killer passes, relentless energy:

P. S. Lee is in a bit of a limbo. This is his last year at Valencia and has refused to sign an extension so far. He's been excluded of the World Cup squad by the Korean national team (much to my chagrin) for "tactical" reasons.

I believe Moose to Watford is official. I always liked him more than most Yids, even during the down-spells at the end. Nevertheless, this was a necessary move. Next up, Aurier.

That is correct. I will try and write a little bit about my trip to Olympiastadion last night, but this sign from Union Berlin supporters tells the story of what you’re referring to.

I originally thought it was Covid that caused Union to have to play at Olympiastadion in order to maximize the number of tickets they could sell. But it is a UEFA rule. Stadion an der alten Försterei does not qualify due to standing room and a couple other reasons. It’s really disappointing and I think the sign in the picture above sums up the issue succinctly.

I'm not saying the criticism isn't valid, but both stadiums are in Berlin, right? You obviously lose something going away from your home ground, but it's not like they're being forced to travel to another city.
