Eeks. Not good.

He's one of those guys I thought maybe Bill would take a low money flyer on as we got closer to the season.

Obviously not now

So, the house he was at is his in-laws, which is why the word domestic is involved. No one was hurt during the entire incident. He drove into a construction zone and hit a barrier of some sort, causing his vehicle to be undrivable. A construction worked called the police.

When police first arrived they had an amicable 10-minute conversation. After the police said they were going to take Sherman in he became contentious and tried to leave. Officers pursued him and used a K9 dog to subdue him. Sherman was taken to a local hospital for treatment on his leg.

I was actually prepared for her to be worse.

This really sucks. I am a huge fan of Sherman as a person and it sounds like he was having a mental break here. Super sad.

Maybe he was just really wasted. Really drunk people can definitely do some extreme things.

Of course, it could also be CTE exacerbated by alcohol.

Without knowing any details, sounds like he got hammered, trashed the in-laws house for whatever reason, then he drove off and smashed his car. Is that the right sequence of events?

Sherman was released without bail. Scheduled to appear tomorrow morning and is facing four misdemeanors, no felonies. The domestic violence wording has been removed.

So, I guess just a DUI?

BB should get on the horn and try to trade Sony...
Do you think the value they could receive for Sony would be greater than having RB depth with this current roster construction?

Interesting to think through, but I feel like having depth behind Harris and in front of Stevenson, given rookie RB's historical performance in BB's offense, would outweigh whatever they can get for Sony in a trade.

It's hard to say, but you make a fair point. Chances are Harris doesn't make it through a full 16 games. But the flip side is the roster crunch. Interesting dynamic.

Obviously, it comes down to what the Rams would be willing to offer, in these days when only the elite backs are considered more than fungible assets. The loss of Burkhead makes trading Sony more of a risk

The roster crunch definitely changes things. If you're going to be making tough cuts but have the opportunity to relieve a roster crunch and pick up a future asset it makes sense. E5 is right, all comes down to value. Does a 4th do it?

Updated: They are in line to get four comp picks this year (4th + 3 6ths)

I wouldn't trade Sony for a 4th. The guy looked really good last year, and has gotten progressively better at catching the ball. I'd ride him hard in a contract year; he's a good running back.

Need to retain depth at RB for now. If Sony was traded, behind Harris they'd only have two guys who they don't want getting a lot of carries (Bolden and White) and a handful of question marks (Taylor, Stevenson, Gaffney).

Fair point on depth, but I think RB is one of the places where rookies can contribute early, even in NE's offense. Sony obviously was the primary back as a rookie. Maroney had over 700 yards and Ridley had over 400. Receiving backs, yes, rarely contribute as rookies, but early down backs are a different story.

If they could get a 4th for Sony, I'd do that immediately. They have good depth at the position now, and if they did lose Harris to an injury, there are serviceable FA options out there as additional bodies.

A 4th round pick has real value.

Sometimes we remember things the way they weren't. Sony finished strong last year, but because of injury only carried the ball 79 ties all season.

Also, in the offense the way it operates at the moment, the RB2 is really Cam.

I'd do the fourth round deal

Yeah I definitely wouldn't bother for a 6th or 7th. A 4th I'd probably take, a 5th I'd be very much on the fence.
What about a conditional 4th, that could become a day 2 pick if say he gains 1000 yards? Or they make the playoffs. Is that even allowed?

I wouldnt trade Sony for a pick honestly. If they can help US shore up one of OUR holes for 2021, while we help them do the same, I'm on board. But thats it.

Sadly their WR depth chart is thin so I dont see much help coming there

Who pray tell would trade a fourth round pick for Sony? That's an absurd overpay for a running back with balky knees on the last year of his contract--and I like him more than pretty much anyone on the board!
