NC State blowing their chance at the college World Series due to getting covid at this point would be totally on brand.

Wow. Not how I wanted this to happen. I hope if there were many unvaccinated players on NC State that the forfeit associated with this wakes up a whole lot of people.
Aaron Fitt said 2 unvaccinated players tested positive which triggered the whole roster including vaccinated Tier 1 individuals. 4 more positives showed up in vaccinated people who were in the game yesterday.

Displaced
The Texas have finished up at 2 am, with them winning 8-5. Rematch tonight at 7 pm, winner goes to the finals.

Sad about NC State.
RE: NC State
It’s sad only in the sense that there has been more than enough time for the entire team to be fully vaccinated. Didn’t get a chance to play further in the tourney? Boo fucking hoo. I’m more concerned about how ignorance and selfishness will continue to unnecessarily cost lives in this country. Heads should roll at the AD and coaching staff level, but they probably won’t.

Congrats on Texas.

I hope you have the same indignation about the Red Sox because they’re nowhere near being fully vaccinated.

I have the same indignation for anyone who won’t get vaccinated unless there are medical reasons and that includes selfish assholes on the Red Sox. I feel awful for the players on NC State who did their part and were screwed by their teammates.

Love guys who run every aspect of their players' lives, including course work, study sessions, workout times, etc. but choose to leave the biggest to chance:

Of course, the bigger issue was whether NC State players were vaccinated since some apparently tested positive for COVID-19. Avent — who said possible positive tests were “personal" — added that it wasn’t his place to tell players to get vaccinated.

“My job is to teach them baseball, make sure they get an education and keep them on the right track forward,” Avent said. “But I don’t try to indoctrinate my kids with my values or my opinions. Obviously, we talk about a lot of things, but these are young men that can make their own decisions. And that’s what they did.”

He indoctrinates in every way, but he doesn't try to indoctrinate the players in the direction of pandemic destroying medical miracles.

It irritates me that Mississippi State gets to be the home team for both games. I realize we are coming through the losers' bracket, but we won last night. Should be a home-and-home set.

Tough ending. Fun season though -- a really resilient team.

Rooting for State in the final, just for the sake of having a legitimate champion.
Really, NC State is Vandy's fault?

I hope the COVID Wolfpack ins't flying home commercial.

FYI, the CBS years with the Saturday winner ending it, double-elimination be damned, is the only travesty hovering over this magnificent sporting event.

It's not Vandy's fault at all. It doesn't change that they didn't win the games required to be in the final, and that their staff got to rest yesterday while MSU had to throw their best pitchers. I don't see how it can be denied that this is an unearned advantage.

I promise that I'm not trying to imply anything beyond the fact that Vanderbilt didn't win their side of bracket on the field and has gained an advantage over Miss State by not having to play yesterday. I don't see how this could be disputed, but please explain if you feel differently. It certainly wasn't Vanderbilt's fault, I don't fault the NCAA for enforcing their rules, and everyone should definitely get vaccinated.

Sounds like Rocker on four days rest for Vandy and the Bednar/Sims combo for MSU, both of whom last pitched on Saturday. Feels like a heavyweight fight to close out the season.
