^ Yikes. The D-backs were up 7-0, and this turned a 8-5 game in the 8th, 2 outs into a 9-8 loss. The D-backs are bad and can't catch a break.

Taijuan Walker gave up 2 ER in 7 innings last night (with a career high 12 k) yet the Mets home starter ERA went up. It was 1.69 entering the game.

Lowest any team has been at this point of the season since the '81 Astros, with no Syndergaard or Carrasco.

deGrom looking absolutely unhittable as always through the first 3 innings, 8K's in 9 batters, throwing 100+, looking his usual self.

And yet, SNY just showed him going into the tunnel looking pissed after the 3rd, and he's now out of the game to start the 4th. It's just not fucking fair.

The Orioles defense – physically and mentally – is so bad it's beyond description. These past three games the Indians have basically just had to play fundamental baseball and wait for Baltimore to hand them some runs.

How did the Mets produce so many dominant starters and hardly make the postseason with them? Thinking about Wheeler, who has been filthy this year.

They had absolutely horrendous team defense for years, Lindor seems to have had a huge impact there.

And I know they always had injury issues with these guys and generally.

Will be really interesting to see how the Brewers do this year, their top 3 are so good and their pen is good but they can’t separate themselves from the Cubs. I imagine they are aggressive to add a bat or 2.

Including Wednesday’s games: deGrom is at a .423 BA, BAA of .112, for a difference of .311.

Of exclusively pitcher seasons with at least 25 AB and a .400 BA, this would smash the existing season record differential of .249, currently held by Bill Ricks, of the Negro League’s Philadelphia Stars in 1945, who hit .486, and batters hit .237 against him, according to BRef’s known gamelogs of Ricks from that season.

Major League Baseball has been around for about 150 years. Jose Altuve became the first player to follow a walkoff grand slam (Tuesday) with a leadoff homer in the next game.

The D-backs are going to break the losing streak on road record, L23 and counting. The Orioles have an active L19 on the road as well.

Arizona has lost 23 straight road games. It is a now a MLB record.

They are 20-50. That overall record is mind boggling. Losing 23 straight road games is simply further proof we are in a simulation and the individual who is playing the game is just having some fun.

Kind of ticks me off that Vlad hasn't done squat against the MFY in their series. A few measily singles. A bunch of guys LOB. He was a one man wrecking crew at Fenway.

I don’t know if it’s better or worse, but the MLB record belongs to the 1890 Pittsburgh Alleghnys, same team as the modern Pirates. 38 straight.

In any case, between this and Baltimore’s simultaneous 18 game road skid, brings up the fun fact of both of their last road wins: O’s was the Means no hitter, Diamondbacks got their list from the full 7 innings of no-hit ball in the infamous Bumgarner doubleheader game.

Hate to say it but I think our pitching played a part in this.

It’s great listening to Plesac lecture us about how people shouldn’t doubt Melancon as he’s coughing up the game.

Yankees - as shitty as they are - continue to exhibit crazy luck with stuff like that. Also. Fuck the jays.

Pittsburgh entered the 7th inning with a 10 run lead on Cleveland. It's down to 1 in the middle of the 8th. The Indians just left the tying run on 3rd, but can the Pirates bullpen record 3 more outs?

Pittsburgh escapes with the win. Bobby Bradley struck out with the tying run on 3rd and go-ahead on 2nd.

I turned on the Blue Jays-Orioles game about 5 minutes ago, when they were down to their last strike. 5 runs since then (Bichette bloop down the RF line, Guerrero/Grichuk back-to-back doubles to the LC power alley)

I was just perusing the standings; how is Toronto plus 40 run differential but under .500? Just one of those things?

Their bullpen is horrendous. They're losing close games and winning blow-outs.

5-9 in one-run games (-4 differential)
9-7 in blow-outs (+27 differential)

Rays heading to 9th tied with Mariners, 2-2. This shit is getting ridiculous with blowing close games so we’ll see if they can break the pattern today.
