A healthy Durant hasn't been eliminated from the playoffs since they blew the 3-1 lead in 2016,.
Yeah, I think that him going to Golden State on playing on such a loaded team masked the fact that he went up a level during that time period and evolved into just a cerebral killer who bullied other players and outplayed prime LeBron in the Finals.

And we'll never know because he's played alongside league MVPs in their prime for his entire prime. I said this a few weeks or months ago, his career is impossible to evaluate because he's always been in the best possible situation to succeed. It's impossible to really tell if he's the best player in the league, or if he's just the perfect player in the era of position-less basketball and super teams. He always seems unstoppable, but a big part of that is playing alongside two of the greatest shooters of all in Golden State, followed by playing alongside two of the most efficient high volume scorers of all-time in Brooklyn (who, sadly, seem to flow together well offensively). Ranking him in an historical context is going to be just about impossible when it's all said and done.
I mean, Kyrie is very good, but not that good. If Durant wins the title this year without Harden, that's really freaking impressive.
This is true, if the Nets bulldoze their way to a title without Harden that says something pretty remarkable about Durant. However, as much as it pains me to say it, Kyrie has been pretty damn special this year (offensively at least). He's just the 4th player to have a 50/40/90 season while averaging 25+ ppg, joining Bird, Durant and Curry. Not MVP level, but his numbers are in the same category as past MVPs (interestingly, only Curry won the MVP in his 50/40/90 season).
Kyrie was basically 50/40/90 in Boston. He's very good, but he's not a top-5 offensive player, and maybe not a top-10, although he's close when he's on.
Winning a title with one other ~top-15 player and role players is impressive as hell. We're also a looonnnggg way from that, and I expect Philly with Embiid (if healthy) and the eventual West opponent to be a lot tougher than Milwaukee, whom I've always seen as frauds (in terms of championship aspirations).
Firing a good coach to hire an assistant, then firing him after 1 year.
I wonder who they even go after. Their roster makes no sense for D'Antoni, do they go for another assistant after they struggled with an inexperienced guy this go round?

If you find out the bad news it’s even worse if you hang on longer. Has anyone star fallen faster or harder than Fizdale’s? Maybe he’ll get another shot once he works his way back up the assistant ranks but I can’t imagine that happening soon.
Firing a guy after 1 year isn’t ideal but they had a near mutiny on their hands by mid season. He lost the locker room and front office. No way they could bring him back for another season.
Hey, the last coach the Pacers fired turned into a great coach almost immediately thereafter in Atlanta. Maybe the Celtics should hire Bjorkgren?
