Is there a problem with ODU stadium? Why are they playing in Columbia as the seeded team?

I think it's seating capacity, but the field itself is pretty nice, I've played there. Apparently they were going to try to get Harbor Park, where the AAA Tides play, but couldn't make it happen.

Anyway, 2 #1 seeds for CUSA, with ODU leading the nation in HRs. They hit #101 last night in the 10th inning to beat La Tech. They also had a kid tear his ACL, but hit a pinch-hit HR in 8th inning yesterday.

Another cool story--the CUSA tourney was at La Tech. ODU and La Tech's coaches are friends and the scheduled a 2 day series just before the CUSA tourney, with the understanding that if either team didn't make CUSA tourney they wouldn't play. ODU got to play there, then spend 4 days practicing there before they tourney. They're 6-0 there now--they were in Ruston, LA for 12 days.

@Dan Murfman Dan, you're a UConn guy, right? I think I have that correct. I went to see their Big East-clinching game at their new on-campus stadium against Seton Hall...it's gorgeous and UConn looked great. Good luck to you and the Huskies!

Harrisburg, Pa.
The national seeds are:

1. Arkansas, 46-10
2. Texas, 42-15
3. Tennessee, 45-16
4. Vanderbilt, 40-15
5. Arizona, 40-15
6. TCU, 40-17
7. Mississippi State, 40-15
8. Texas Tech, 36-15

Texas had a clunker of a Big 12 tourney but I think they have a shot at getting back to its home (the CWS).

FWIW, my baseball buddy and I are forecasting the regionals based on our NCAA D1 Elo ratings...

Fayetteville Regional: (1) Arkansas, 76% chance of advancing (2) Nebraska, 10% (3) Northeastern, 12% (4) NJIT, 2%

Ruston Regional: (1) Louisiana Tech, 35% (2) NC State, 44% (3) Alabama, 16% (4) Rider, 5%

Stanford Regional: (1) Stanford, 36.7% (2) UC Irvine, 37.4% (3) Nevada, 15% (4) North Dakota State, 11% -- our Elo ratings have Irvine several places above Stanford, but home field advantage closes almost the entire gap.

Feel free to follow along, as we'll keep doing so through the CWS: @collegesplits

Central Connecticut State baseball had an interesting trip out to Oregon. They were supposed to leave yesterday afternoon on the same plane that was supposed to take the Boston Bruins to Long Island. That plane was supposed to fly from Farmingdale Airport to Bradley to pick up CCSU. But, the Bruins plane had mechanical issues and they ended up having to take another plane to LI. Apparently, they fixed the plane that was supposed to take the Bruins and it got to Bradley but it took so long that CCSU did not take off until 12:30 AM EST. They must have had more issues because they had to land in Milwaukee at 1:32 AM CST and did not take off again until 3:16 AM CST. They eventually landed in Eugene about 2 hours ago.
