Doubt it would happen, but they’d be a really, really good team with him at QB this year.

How much longer does BB want to coach?

I think he'd have a lot more fun winning with Rodgers for three years or so than hoping that he'll find and develop the right young QB solution.

BB built a really nice car this off season. He needs a good driver.

Pats drafted Jimmy after Brady's 36 year old season. That's when BB began preparing.
I think Bill’s not thinking about five years out anymore. I think he wants all the coaching records, and thanks to the two that he already holds, the other two are within his grasp over the next three years.

How is that different than 1-2 years ago when they didn't want to commit to Brady for 2-3 years?

There's got to be a close to zero percent chance GB trades him here. You trade a star player to the most hated team in the league--and then he possibly wins a superbowl or two because A.A. Ron and BB is a pretty fucking amazing combo? They'd turn the GM into a giant brat if this happened.

Why does he want out of GB? Coaching and Front office incompetence.

Where could he go? Only to a place without significant investment at the QB position already either via draft capital or money.

Does that sound familiar?

If Brady were 37 and coming off an MVP season two years ago the Patriots would have given him a four year extension. But he wasn’t, he was 41.

I mean if you get serious draft capital for the rebuild, why do you care? Rodgers made it clear that he wants to play for a team on the verge of winning a title. That seriously limits the market, and some of the likely parties have nothing to deal in that regard (like the Niners).

Maybe you're right. I personally can't see them wanting to get into the exact same situation they just went through. YMMV

Overall, I hate talking in absolutes and 0% chance of BB wanting him seems inconsistent with how I think things work in the NFL and BB in general

Except he's six years younger than Brady. I'd do this, and I bet this is where he wants to come.
Maybe. There's a lot of reasons to want to come to NE, and Aaron may buy into those. But other than wanting a ring, I've never really seen much indication he covets the NE job in particular.

F&M, I believe citing PFT (a lot of rumors going on today so I may have that wrong), were saying Rodgers preferred destinations were Vegas, San Fran, Denver in no particular order.

No harm in BB doing some due diligence, but I don't think it's happening.

The 49ers sweetening their offer even more & getting the Rodgers deal done seems like the 2nd most likely option after GB just keeping Rodgers.

What would it actually take to get him... and why is everyone mentioning 5 years? Wouldn't his contract be part of the trade and isn't there only 3 years remaining?

I do think Gruden would jump on the opportunity if he could afford the price and Green Bay is actually willing to deal Rodgers. Which I doubt.

Edit: I think it is more likely that the Packers kiss Rodger's ass, apologize profusely about drafting Love and ask him who he wants from this draft, and then work hard to make that happen.

I tend to agree that they’ll prostrate before him, but in terms of taking meaningful action to improve the skill position talent around him it is a bit late to change gears on your draft strategy. They may want to commit to run hard at Julio, though.

Probably true, unless this has been going on for a while already and the Packers have already incorporated his concerns into their draft strategy. Julio Jones is a good idea though.

Different question for the masses: with all the dead money and presumably other cap issues, what happens if GB refuse to trade Rodgers and he retires?

Edit: I don't think Rodgers will retire, but I'm curious.

They only have #3 and no first rounders in the next two drafts. I’m not sure I’m buying Shanahan trading five firsts for Aaron Rodgers.

How would GB get Jones? They would pretty much have to trade away Adams. That doesn't seem like much of an upgrade.

I didn't think anyone would ever trade 3 1sts for Mac Jones, but here we are.

Why 5 1sts? I'd expect like 3, 43, 155, 2022 2nd would be a competitive offer.

I think the idea is that if Green Bay had given him a top-of-the-market all-guaranteed deal we wouldn't be in this maelstrom now. So, this trade will take resources along with a revised all-guaranteed contract.

Assuming getting Jones makes Rodgers happy he signs an extension (maybe you extend Adams too) and that frees up a bunch of space

You have to have 15.3 M in space to take Jones on the roster before he signs the extension. GB only has a few million in space right now. An extension for Adams probably doesn't get the cap hit to only a couple million.

I’d think that two firsts beats it. And the Niners don’t have another for a long time now. But maybe they’re willing to cash out their 21 and 22 drafts for a short term upgrade. I’d say that the Broncos with #9 and the rest of their draft capital would be in a better spot. This is, of course, if teams are willing to draft for Green Bay and then wait until June so that the Packers can avoid gutting their team.

I guess it depends on how the Packers feel about Jordan Love. I would think they're doing this with the plan of taking their next franchise QB at 3 & taking this year as a retooling year with all of Rodgers' dead $ so they can start fresh next year. Maybe trade a couple more vets for draft capital, etc.

I don't think their roster is good enough to try to thread the needle with like Jimmy G & some extra picks.

San Fran makes that commute a lot easier if he was serious about double dipping.

I don't care if Jeopardy is filmed in his backyard, he couldn't possibly handle a full time Jeopardy schedule while the NFL is in season. Right?

Jeopardy currently tapes 5 episodes a day, 46 days per year, with an approximate 3-month lag time.

I don't think it would be impossible with some minor tweaks.

Smh @ when an analysis of Jeopardy's filming schedule becomes a legitimate topic on draft day lol.

Probably easily could, maybe a few days per season, and then stack more in the offseason. If he banged a bunch out just before the season, a bunch during his bye week and then another stack right after the season... yeah not much of an issue. If they wanted him they could make it work

Why is no one giving Rodgers shit about this? He has a rich contract for 3 more seasons, he has a good team around him, what gives? Who else would get this level of goodwill after forcing his way out of town publicly?

Because they signed his replacement and then apparently told him this offseason that they were going to trade him.

Not to mention the shitty coaching, free agency, skill players, and defenses they've saddled him with throughout the years.

Because it's not that good a team without him, and they've been doing a terrible job for years... also:

He has the best OL in football plus a top 5 WR and a top 5 RB. The defense is at least adequate as well. This is a severe overstatement. They drafted a QB low in the first round, they did the same to Favre and everyone called him an asshole for the way he treated Rodgers and later forced his way out with the retirement shenanigans.
