Is the new onside kick rule really going to make a difference? Teams are going to limited to 9 in the setup zone. Don't teams typically use 10 guys in the setup zone with 1 guy back deep to guard against a pooch kick and/or fake currently? Is having 1 fewer in the zone really going to make that much difference?
The NFL doesnt want a functioning onside kick. They've been offered viable solution after viable to solution to provide trailing teams a safe yet viable longshot way to get the ball bacl and they refuse

Interesting. Doing some quickie math (Stuart chart), looks like the Chiefs gave up the equivalent of the 25th pick.

Brown is a free agent after the year, & looks like he'll cost $3.6m because of the Proven Performance Bonus.

Seems reasonable for both teams...prefer the Ravens side, but KC in win now & really need a T.

If I was KC I would have stayed pat at 31 and just drafted a tackle, but what do I know. Not sure how they're going to afford their team in 2022 and beyond.

This is a super deep tackle draft class... they might be able to get a comparable tackle at 58 as they would have at 31 & fill both tackle slots.

Walker Little Sam Cosmi and whatshis face the Bruce Banner off the field/hulk on the field guy from OSU all look decent enough.

I think the most effective philosophy on building a consistently good oline is what the Pats do--consistently add talent, build primarily through the draft, get guys who are just tough grinders, and keep players together unless they're going to become some of the highest paid players in the history of the sport in free agency.

So pretty much the opposite of signing Thuney and trading a shitton for a talented player a year before his salary spikes.

If you believe the draft charts, KC gave up the equivalent of a high 2nd round pick for Brown.

Interesting. Stuart chart says 25th pick, Hill chart says 37th pick, Jimmy Johnson chart says 45th pick.

Browns a fucking beast. And I would bet he gets a slightly below market LT deal, as the majority of his games are at RT. May end up being a steal for KC depending on the contract.

I thought that the reason he wanted to be traded was to get paid as a premium LT? He won’t be cheap at all to extend.

Big price tag, but KC was up against it with their OL situation, and this isn’t exactly the Tunsil trade in that the downside risk of the picks being dealt is very limited.

Id be pleased as a Chiefs fan. Brown will get paid, but he is very good.

It definitely was. But even getting a top 10 LT contract basically makes him a top paid RT. A discount at LT still gets him more money.

I'm sure they'll do some restructuring of contracts, but the Chiefs already have seven guys adding up to $151M against the cap in 2022. Throwing a big Orlando Brown contract on top of that is pretty wild. Total stars and scrubs strategy. They also only have six picks in this draft and haven't exactly crushed the last couple drafts, so there's not a deep pool of cheap talent in the scrubs category either.

Definitely going with the 2000s Colts strategy. Works great when injuries don't occur but I generally prefer the Patriots depth approach. Of course, the latter is much harder to accomplish now that we don't have a subsidized GOAT at QB.

Man it's almost like when you have an elite QB you should build around him instead of wasting early picks on his backup and 3rd stringers at the least valuable position in the sport.

Rodgers has really covered how incredibly shitty everyone in GB is at their jobs.

Shefty on ESPN just now:

Aaron Rodgers has told certain members of the organization that he does not want to return to the Green Bay packers. And this is an issue that has gone on throughout the course of the off-season. So much so that each of the packers main individual decisionmakers, the president, mark Murphy, the head coach, Matt Lafleur, the general manager, have each taken trips out west to go meet with Aaron Rodgers, to fly out and meet with him to see if they could change his mind and convince him to come back to Green Bay, which he does not want to do at this point in time. But to date, Aaron Rodgers has not budged. So we have a standoff here that nobody knows exactly where it's going.
Mina Kimes points out that trading him before June 1 is a huge cap hit to the Packers.

i agree the best way is 4th and 15 from the 30 yd line 70 yards away and u can only do it in the 4th q under 5 min down by 2 scores or more or anytime after 2 min in the 4th if u are loseing

Wingo says that at some point (not clear when) GB told Rodgers they would trade him, then changed their minds.
my 02 cents

Denver has 25 mil in cap room and there is a change that since RT J James tore his ACL working away from the team Denver can cut him freeing up more space

a Rodgers trade this year means Denver is the only opiton

Vegas has only 1.7 mil in cap space and signed CB Casey haywerd today

GB will not deal in the NFC taking ATL and NO out

Rodgers GF lives part-time in Denver

this might not come to a end utill late-july early-aug as green bay cannot deal him utill june 2nd at the earliest due to speading out a 30 mil cap hit over 2 years

yes GB can play hardball and wait utill march 22 but by doing that they lower the draft picks they can get

likely the deal wouild be bridewater or lock a 2022 1st 3rd and a 2023 2rd that can go into a first if rodgers leads denver to a AFC Champ game in 21 or 22

I don't think GB has any interest in Bridgewater or Lock. GB traded up in the first round to draft Jordan Love and I just don't see the appeal of bringing in either of the Denver QBs as competition. If the Packers trade Rodgers then Love will be QB1.

I think the Packers only have 2 QBs on their roster (Rodgers/Love) & Jordan Love hasn't played. Not sure why they wouldn't take a TBridge back if they're making that trade, even if he is the backup/mentor.

Bridgewater went to Denver to compete for a starting job. I don't think the Packers want any possibility of a QB controversy which would happen if Love does not play well to start the season and a pro like Bridgewater is waiting in the wings. I think the GB GM has gone all in on Love and when they sign QB2 it will be a guy who will understand that he is signing as a backup/mentor. Bringing back a QB from Denver also diminishes the potential return from that trade. I should also say that what GB did by drafting Love makes no sense to me. They have one of the greatest QB of all time and this GM starts 2020 by drafting a guy who he wants to be the guy to shove Rodgers out the door. For whatever reason, Gutekunst thinks the Packers will be a better team without Rodgers.

Fourth team captain to leave the Dolphins this offseason (after Fitz, Karras, and Van Noy). Don't think that really means much in and of itself, but does suggest they have lost a lot of veteran leadership.
