Shane Bieber becomes the first pitcher to ever strike out 10+ in each of his first four starts of a season. He struck out 13 today, including 6 of the last 7 batters he faced.

I don’t know who she is but I guessed she was a Yankees best reporter. Ding ding ding!

I eagerly await her thoughts on the Pujols and Stanton contracts.
Yeah, she’s not very good. It bums me out as an Athletic subscriber that she does almost all their Yankee coverage.

Mariners take 2 of 3 from Houston, stay in first. They get the Dodgers next.

They’re an interesting team. On the one hand, they’ve been outscored, and most of their young players are not playing very well right now. But Haniger is playing well, they get Lewis back this week, and they will get Kelenic soon enough, so there’s still some upside. If the rest of the kids start figuring it out, then they could be going places. They almost certainly won’t make the playoffs, but the role of “previously bad team who starts to get good ahead of schedule” is a plausible possibility - as long as DiPoto resists the temptation to go into sell mode.

EDIT: I should point out that the opposite outcome, where they are bad enough to raise questions about the viability of this rebuild (and send the front office back to the drawing board) is also in play! Lots of possibilities here.

The insufferable Tony LaRussa has to go to his closer because there's one out left in the game and his lead has shrunk from 5 runs to 3.

The Twins were shut out on both ends of their 7-inning doubleheader today. They've lost 8 of their last 9 sandwiched around three postponements due to their COVID issues, and their bullpen is a mess with a 5.17 ERA.

Houston is 3-10(!!) since the opening series. Oakland is on a W10 streak. Crazy early season swings in the AL West.

A big chunk of Houston's issues is that they had a bunch of their best hitters out because of possible Covid exposure. The A's on the other hand just won again after the Twins made infield errors on consecutive plays with two outs in the 10th, either one would have won the game.

Wild finish in Oakland.

Twins score two in top of the 10th to take a 12-10 lead. A's draw two walks to load the bases with 2 outs, then score one on an E-4,then end it when Arraez airmails 1B and two more runs come in.

11 in a row for Oakland.

One of those errors was by a replacement level 2B I assume due to COVID, another was made by Arraez(!!) of all players who was their best player against the Red Sox. Talk about unclutch.

Baldelli also left Colome in for 50 pitches, that's a ????? from me.

Lindor is wearing a hoodie in Wrigley, have we seen MLB players do that before?

Mets get swept by the Cubs, the five NLE teams are only separated by one game.

Dodgers-Padres at it again. San Diego turns a bases loaded double play on a rocket to preserve a 1 run lead in bottom of the 8th.

I can see it was clear cut Thursday
Slow motion weekdays hype me up
Padres infielders got me wound
There were no defects to be found
Baseball bats cracked as their sound.

So Mike Trout leaned into a pitch that was in the strike zone with his elbow yesterday, a la Conforto. And then had to be removed from the game with an elbow contusion.

Pretty stupid maneuver there by one of the best hitters in the history of baseball. You don't need to scrap to get on base Mike.
