Manish is getting roasted alive on Twitter today from multiple sources, and EVERYONE'S coming out of the woodwork to talk about what a piece of crap he is.

Maine thread is here:

Basically, his Jets credentials have been revoked but the Daily News was using another writer's work and they and Manish were passing it off as his own for the clicks.

And then multiple stories of grossly inappropriate behavior coming forth in that thread, including harassing Jets' GM Joe Douglas' son at a baseball game. Read the whole thing.

Former Globe writer Shalize Manza Young chimes in too:

Manish should never have been taken seriously. He’s such a whore for clicks and bombastic “journalism” it’s sickening. I lost all respect for the ESPN show The Sports Reporters when they had him on there. Dick Schapp must have been rolling over in his grave.

How does a reporter get his credentials revoked by a team and it not become a story after the first time he publishes a story as if he'd been there?

He blocks people for posting comments to other peoples tweets that he wasn't even tagged in, so wouldn't surprise me

I'm dense: what is the significance of the NYDN page photographed? Is that an accusation or proof of plagiarism?

I don’t think anyone’s accusing him of plagiarizing. The Charles dude attended camp, shared his notes with Mehta, and Mehta did his column with no attribution. Apparently this was a somewhat regular thing, but now that Charles has moved on to a new gig, he’s lighting Mehta on fire. At least that’s what I gather (no idea if any of this is true).

btw, I saw Mascho in the comments!

edit - actually the tweet says it all, d’oh.

Never thought I'd see the name Shalise Manza Young again. IMHO not the Globe's finest hour hiring her.

I wish Gase was a better coach because he is right about so much. He hated Manish from the jump, knew the Gm was a clown right away, didn’t want Lev Bell, did want Joe Douglas. Time after time this guy ends up being right but 0 wins is tough.

Spin zone: he's doing a great job of landing Trevor Lawrence and there is no bigger accomplishment to be had by the Jets this season.
Also, Manish has always been a troll and glad to see him receive some amount of karma here.

I was assured by Manish roughly 11 years ago that the Jets were in the ascendency and the Pats were done.

My sense is that there is a lot of unattributed work that happens amongst NFL beat writers. I recall Jeff Howe absolutely lighting up Ben Volin on Twitter when he was still with the Herald a few years ago for reporting on Patriots training camp from his couch.

I don't know if they still do it, but the Globe started putting a tagline on their Sunday columns saying that information came from various sources. And insiders regularly now cite the origin of the info they cite.

Mehta could have avoided much of this by saying, for instance, "Gase told the Daily News" -- which would have been accurate, if not complete, or adding a tag that read "John Doe contributed to this report," as the AP does.

Of course, he eventually would have found another way to screw up

It says now he is no longer with the Daily News not just pulled from the Jets beat. Unpopular opinion but I enjoyed watching him on the NY sports shows.

Pulling him off the beat was kinda toothless considering he'd long had his Jets credentials revoked (apparently before this all blew up).

Seems like a case of good riddance. The Daily News has to do more though. I mean, they've done as much as they can to Mehta if they fired him, but they still knowingly published his "work" when they knew it wasn't his. Their credibility as a whole needs to be re-established.

Catching up on some of the stuff Manish is alleged to have done:

- he stalked Joe Douglas' kid at a baseball game, sent "Hey Joe, I’m watching your son eat vanilla ice cream out of a Phillies batting helmet" as a text to Douglas , in an effort to get Douglas as a source for stories

- He punched John Schnieder at the senior bowl:

- he apparently harassed women:

WaPo article on Manish.

Other players complained to the Jets, too, convinced Mehta would be critical of them if they didn’t cooperate with him. In 2016, kicker Nick Folk told the Jets that Mehta threatened Folk’s wife with bad coverage of him if she didn’t apologize for criticizing Mehta on Twitter, according to people familiar with the incident. Julianne Folk declined to comment; Mehta said he never threatened bad coverage.
Afterward, in a hallway outside the media room, Mehta screamed at her (reporter Jenny Vrentas), according to multiple people who were there, cursing repeatedly: “F--- you! F--- you! F--- you!” The tirade lasted several minutes, these people said, and two other writers had to calm Mehta down.
He's officially been fired, and he sounds like a real shitheel.

Jenny Vrentas is one of the all time most pure and good people in sports media. It just shows what kind of a person Manish was to pick her out as a target.

Washington Post straight trolling with their headline picture of Mehta:
