Burkhardt to his credit on FS1 asks Roberts right away about the situation. Roberts gives a non-answer saying it was crazy.

Hey Dave, yo'ure high-risk.

I just can’t understand the decision to let Turner on the field and around people. Does the team just not give a shit because they won? Turner is incredibly selfish to put others at risk knowing he’s positive.

“@Kelsie_Heneghan: Dave Roberts just said on the FS1 broadcast that he has ”no idea“ if there is an update after the initial positive result for Justin Turner

“I didn’t touch him just because I didn’t know.””
.
Are you fucking kidding me? We have been dealing with this for more than 7 months. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TOUCH SOMEONE TO GET INFECTED WTH COVID!!!!!

mlb and the Dodgers deserves all the shit and bad press they are about to get for this.

Ken Rosenthal on FS1 says he tested positive yesterday, results this afternoon, reran, tested positive again. No false positive.

This is really leaving a sour taste in my mouth.

I assume MLB had pretty clear rules about not playing after an initial positive test even if a second test was pending.

This comes across as straight cheating. If Cam had gotten COVID right before the Super Bowl and Belicheck played him knowing it was the last game of the season, it would feel like cheating to me and tarnish the win.

The truth is that the majority of those who play on and manage/coach sports teams likely don't think that COVID poses much of a threat.

The optics are terrible. The Turner situation makes it potentially much worse. But this is the same day that the WH "science" department proclaimed the pandemic over and the greatest quarterback of all time posted a false comparison between COVID and suicide death rates.

The Dodgers are just another high profile example of hubris, science denial and immaturity.

Most baseball players lean conservative and likely do not believe the virus is a big deal. If Turner came on the field after being told not to, I have lost all respect for him.
Teammates insisted he come out as well. A lot of lost respect to go around

The east coast turned off their TVs the moment the game was over. Likely no one but Dodgers fans were watching by the time Turner came out onto the field.

Most people will read about it tomorrow, say something akin to "that was stupid," and go on with their lives

“@BillShaikin: Dodgers will get additional tests; MLB is doing contact tracing. Had the Rays won Game 6, MLB would have reviewed results with medical advisers in the morning and decided whether to play Game 7 as scheduled
Uh. Contact tracing? That would be everyone on the fucking field. Both Dodgers and dodger family members as well as the rays!

also. Lol at reviewing medical info if the rays had won. This is MLB they would have played regardless because they care more about the $$& than the safety of the players.

Friedman not covering himself in glory here
“@helenenothelen: Andrew Friedman says he found out about Turner’s positive test in the 7th inning. ‘It was extremely surreal. Obviously incredibly unfortunate but speaks to what all of us are going through in 2020.’ Says Turner wanted to join teammates on field for photos with trophy.”
“@helenenothelen: More Friedman on Turner: ‘I don’t think there was anyone that was going to stop him from going out’ on the field because he’s a free agent with uncertainty now. Says Turner was responsible and distancing during photo session.”
“@helenenothelen: Dodgers’ Friedman, asked if team will now have to quarantine in Texas, says he’s not sure. Says they’ll go back to the hotel and be tested for COVID and not sure what happens after that.”
“@helenenothelen: Friedman, asked if Turner exposed others on the field: ‘From his standpoint him having a chance to take a picture with the trophy was incredibly important and meaningful to him.’ Says Turner stayed near others he’d been near before.”
“@helenenothelen: Friedman asked about photos taken of Turner next to manager Dave Roberts and Roberts not wearing a mask: ‘If there’s people around him without a mask that’s not good optics at all.’ Says he hasn’t seen those photos. ‘The subsequent tests we take are really important.””
“@helenenothelen: Friedman asked why Justin was allowed on to field for celebration: ‘I think Justin wanted to come out and take a picture with the trophy and did.’”
“@helenenothelen: Andrew Friedman asked why Dodgers didn’t follow protocols: ‘We did. when he came out of the game he was quarantined in a doctor’s office over to the side.’ Says being in bubble together means interaction ‘is pretty high. now it’s important to make sure we don’t spread it.’”
“@billplunkettocr: When pressed, Friedman says he thinks people around Turner tonight were probably ”already in the contact tracing web“ and exposed to Turner previously.”
“@billplunkettocr: #Dodgers Andrew Friedman said Justin Turner was on the field for celebration with ”a mask on and staying socially distanced.“ This has been refuted by photos available on the internet.”

“Justin Turner went into isolation after finding out he had tested positive. He eventually returned to the field on his own accord. When MLB officials found out, they instructed security to get Turner back into isolation. Turner refused to leave.”

Yeah I don’t really believe this part. Manfred’s just covering his own ass.
We should know for sure soon right? Like, if MLB really told him that and he refused he should be facing a massive penalty from the league for putting dozens if not hundreds of people at risk. So if there's no penalty, or a token fine, and we know it's bullshit.

“League officials, league security personnel and some Dodgers officials spoke with Turner, asking him to remain in isolation, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Turner, however, was adamant about wanting to join the celebration, the source said, and he had the support of at least some club officials.

“We’re going to get him a picture, then get him off (the field),” one Dodgers official said. “We can’t deny him that. The guy is the heart and soul of the organization.”

What a perfect encapsulation of the year.

Cash takes a dump all over his own face by pulling Snell and then the lead is immediately given up.(Covid existing)

And then that is overshadowed by Turner being a piece of garbage. He tested positive and he was just out there just because FREEDOM.(despite covid existing, people are not willing to take the most basic of precautions)

This is especially sensitive for me. My wife is from Japan and can’t go home to see her family exactly because of behavior like this. Her father is going through cancer treatment so even if she wanted to go and wait out the 14 days, she can’t be near him.

It‘s completely selfish behavior that is almost entirely unique to this dumb ass country and its entitled citizens.

I want the hammer dropped on Turner.

No it's not. I know your penchant for this kind of stuff and what Turner and Dodgers and MLB did and allowed sucks, but CDC contact tracing guidelines would not include everyone on the field--at least, not just because there were on the field.

Don't forget the supposed toothless attempt by MLB security to keep him off the field. Also indicative of 2020.

If non-players on the field such as media or family were around Turner for 15 minutes at 6 feet apart or closer, they really should be part of contact tracing.

I can believe that part. What were they going to do, pull a gun on Turner? He probably blew right by anyone who said anything to him into the open arms of his teammates.

Kevin Cash must feel like the luckiest man in America right now. He should send Turner a nice fruit basket to thank him for changing the subject.

And CDC updated their "close contact" definition as of Oct. 21:

"Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period* starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated."

* Individual exposures added together over a 24-hour period (e.g., three 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes).

I turned the game off right after it ended and just heard about Turner now. I am absolutely gobsmacked at the stupidity of the Dodgers and MLB. They deserve every bit of the shit that is going to rain down on them.

How many day to day employees of MLB and staff are on that field without any knowledge of Turner's positive test? What about the Rays organization? The umpires? There shouldn't be a union present last night that lets MLB get past this without massive penalties for the Dodgers, and MLB should eat a huge one too, but they'll probably scapegoat it all on to the Dodgers.

What about wives and children of his Dodger teammates? His own wife? Sorry for the language, but Turner is a complete asshole. His selfish behavior put a ton of people at risk. MLB has a hand in this too. If he's positive, send him directly back to the hotel to go into isolation. Yea, it sucks he can't celebrate with his teammates but that's life. I'd also like to know how he contracted it as well. Was he doing something he wasn't supposed to do? This whole situation is absolutely awful.
