If the Lakers are going to get that kind of third-contribution from Rondo (and if not him every game, then some combination of Kuzma/KCP/Green/Morris taking turns) they will be tough to beat. LBJ and Davis are pretty much guaranteed to bring it each game, but they need that third guy to step up and make shots and get the offense moving. Houston got good games from Harden/Westbrook, but they need more from the other guys to keep pace.

Remind me again who gave up two first rounders *and* two pick swaps in that Westbrook/CP3 trade?

A CP3-Gordon-Harden-Covington-Tucker unit would be tough to beat.
Harden and Paul were the actual architects if we are being honest. Houston had a terrible choice at that point. Harden kind of played himself but then again, CP3 seems like an insufferable co-worker.

Don’t want to post in the game thread, but man that Celtics G6 was an all-time classic playoff game. Incredible shot making by both teams.

Your observation about the Clippers energy feels right and that, more than the admittedly bad officiating will determine the outcome imo.

The Lakers whining about late (9:00) start times is just rich:
"You just remove that element of being in the air, arriving late at night. But our 9 o'clock starts, it feels like we're playing and traveling during the season," Lakers coach Frank Vogel said Wednesday. "It's because you're getting back to the hotel very late, you're up late."

For television purposes, sometimes those starts get pushed back a half-hour or so to accommodate the game that precedes them. And for the Lakers' players, that means not being able to go to sleep until the wee morning hours following a game.

"I get right to work right after the game," LeBron James said after the Lakers' Game 1 loss to Houston. "Win, lose or draw, I start my treatment already in the locker room; when I get back to the hotel, I'm going to do some more. Be up pretty late tonight."

Vogel estimates on a typical game night, he won't get to bed until 3 a.m. at the earliest and then he'll be up again at 9 for his morning coaches' meeting.

"I watch film until I fall asleep, which is typically not before 3," Vogel said. "But typically not after 5. I'd say before 3 and 4 is when I typically go to bed after a 9 o'clock game."

Their defense has been tremendous tonight. Every half inch, extra contest, extra closeout. They've rarely shown this all year. It's suffocating and gives me hope vs the lakers

That layup by LeBron before the end of the first half...was otherworld. behind his head while falling down? I know it's verboten to say anything positive about LBJ here, but....just insanely good.

Things can turn around quick, but Houston sure does look like they've just given up.

I love LeBron, he's a family man, never had any embarrassing allegations, very charitable with his money -- but having him be the Celtics' villain is entertaining and fun.
I think the Lakers are going to win the chip.

Love this early start. Hope the clipps can just quietly sneak into the wcf before any realizes there's a game on.

Maybe it's injury-related, but Paul Millsap is only a shadow of the player he once was. I remember him killing the C's in more than one game.

He was a +10 on/off guy during the regular season. He's a -20 in the playoffs. (That's net rating per 100 possessions.)

Clippers will find the on switch before this game ends.

Edit: Or not!

But I think there will be endless fouls and to's and by the time we see Celtics it'll be the 2nd quarter

Had a bit left there, though. Fun game....these playoffs are great.
