You know what, it ain't worth it. I know who Oppo is and what his beliefs are and I would rather ignore him than engage with him on anything. Remember, the ignore button is your friend.

Maybe I live in a liberal echo chamber? Didn't think correlating Texas opening up, a spike in cases, and members of teams who play and live here would be that controversial but here we are. I'll stick to football. Sorry for the distraction. You can have the last word.
Just happy to be recognized :)

By the time a player tests positive and gets isolated, he will have likely passed it on to other team members, and will have had contact with virtually all of them. Plus whatever opponents he played against. So would the plan be to isolate everyone any player that tests positive has come into contact with? If that's the procedure, there's no chance a football season is going to be played.

But why? For all of the environments that a player might contract COVID, I would be least concerned about it happening on the field of play.
Really? 6 plays into a drive and linemen are huffing hard right into each other’s faces.

Different sport but we think Gobert gave it to Smart right? One guy contagious at the right time can infect a slew of folks.

@RedOctober3829 do you think colleges are trending towards having a season at all? Curious what your thoughts are on college season speculation.
It's at least going to try to start because there's too much money at stake, but with COVID spiking the way it is in a lot of the country it may stop in the middle. I just can't see how fans are going to be in the stands. If they are, it's a selfish decision.

The Giants gave season ticket holders the option to forego their seats just for this season. Father in law took them up on it, probably the right move even though he usually sells most of them.

Its a good idea on a few bases

1-NYFG look sympathetic to the fans who may be out of work and cash strapped
2-NYFG look realistic towards the impact of CV and social distance seating
3-If fans can self-select out of tickets for a year, the NYFG don't have to send out (as many) letters to long-time season ticket holders telling them due to social distance seating, you're SOL-see you next year.

https://boston.cbslocal.com/2020/06/19/patriots-covid-19-coronavirus-season-tickets-2020-season/In case you missed this, the Patriots announced a similar thing two weeks ago, although their policy explicitly mentions people at higher risk. I wonder if they will adapt this to include everyone.

I deferred my season tickets with them yesterday. All they do is tell you to check a box, and then confirm. There is no requirement or “ask” if you are “high risk” or not. I will be back in 2021-22. . . . .

One caveat to that deal would be how would Mariota have developed under Doug Pederson instead of under Ken Whisenhunt and Mike Mularkey? He could have developed into a top 5 QB.

Losing Fletcher Cox would have had a big impact on the defense though.

VERY long term deal for Mahomes:
View: https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1280213581628411905

Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes have reached agreement on a 10-year -- 10-year! -- contract extension that ties him to Kansas City through the 2031 season, league sources tell ESPN.

That's a NHL/MLB type lockup.
There has to be an out in there somewhere, no? 10 years is too long for a dude like Mahomes. In year 5 or 6 he’s going to be underpaid. That’s just how these deals work.

If I’m in Chiefs, I’m thrilled. Good for Mahomes if this is what he wants.

I have a feeling that contract is gonna get challenged somewhere.

What is the likelihood it lasts all the way through?

I’m sure there are several years on the backend that make him expendable if necessary.

Will be interesting to see the structure though because they don’t have the space to frontload the guarantees to the same extent - though this was an unusual situation given his K was expiring and the Niners had TONS of space they otherwise wouldn’t use - the Niners did with Jimmy G.

The Chiefs likely bought themselves a discount by getting an extension done several years ahead of FA, and avoiding a year to year franchise tag showdown is a win for them.

If it's not what he wants, why would he sign it?

I mean, I’m sure he wants to sign a record breaking deal, but it feels like he’s capping his own earning power by signing a 10 year extension.

Lots of players sign deals that aren’t in their own best interests for a variety of reasons.

Suppose he dislocates his knee in week 7 again, only this time he's Robert Edwards?
