Got distracted and walked into a sign and needed 5 staples in my scalp this morning. This news makes it a tiny bet better. So do painkillers.

Ha, I’ve done that before. No staples thankfully but drew blood. The shame was the most painful part for me.

Do you think Vigneault ever considered starting Schneider in Game 7? A great ‘what if?’. Luongo was just broken mentally by that point.
I doubt he considered it for game 7. Luongo was so Jekyll & Hyde that series. 0, 2, 0 goals against at home prior to game 7. I don’t really blame them, you get to game 7 you sink or swim with the guy who got you there.

If they ever thought about a goalie change, my guess is was for game 5 but ultimately decided to go with Luongo with a short leash. If it went badly in game 5, they can get Schneider in and then freely start him in game 6 in Boston.

Between here and everywhere.
Remember the time Lucic punched Komisarek in the ribs so hard during a fight that Komisarek just like, quit?

Looch’s absolute domination of Komi over the years was one of my favorite subplot of the Looch years.

I met Komisarek a few times when I was at Michigan and he played on our men's league team for like 2 or 3 games while he was coaching the UM team and finishing his degree. Was -3 in one of them, which was funny. Had an absolute rocket of a shot.

That said, was an awesome guy and was just another normal guy in the locker room after drinking some beers. Didn't tell him I was a Bruins fan though...

Those were some dark, dark times.

1998- 5-seed, lost in 5 to Washington. The infamous Tim Taylor toe in the crease disallowed OT goal was game 3.

1999- 6 seed, beat Carolina in the first round! Lost in 6 to Buffalo. Fucking Hasek.

2000- DNQ, finished 12th in the East

2001- DNQ, traded Ray, tied for 8th with Carolina, lost tiebreaker (wins)

2002- 1 seed in the East! Lost in 6 to Montreal

2003- 7 seed in the East, blown off the ice by the Devils in 5. O’Connell fired Ftorek right before the playoffs and took over himself.

2004- We’re back! 2-seed in the East! Loaded up at the deadline with Gonchar and Nylander. Up 3-1 on Montreal in the first round! This is it!

Nope.

2005- Lockout. I’m not sure how I stuck with the team and sport given the futility of the team and having the taste of blowing that 3-1 lead to Montreal linger through a completely lost season.

2006- Hockey is back! Woo! We suck. It’s all Thornton’s fault.

2007- Cleaned house. Phew. Hello, Chara and Savard. Oh, Dave Lewis.

Not sure why I went down that rabbit hole of memories but hey, what else is there to do?

Say what you want about Chiarelli but man, he took over an organization with a huge stench over it and turned them into a contender in 3 seasons. God bless Julien, Chara, Savard, Ference, Thornton, Aaron Ward, Tim Thomas, Bergeron, Looch and other players/staff who really changed the culture around here.

Just turned NESN on literally at the start of the Marco Sturm shift. That corner of the ice should still be an active crime scene.

Next shift included Mazz flubbing a puck into Price’s chest on a 2 on 1. That seemed fitting.

I had forgotten how amazing that Sturm shift was. Completely destroyed Hamrlik for two loose pucks, put the puck on net, leaps over Plekanec, and then the amazing hesitation before putting it past Price. Absolutely epic.

Lucic - Krejci - Kessel to close that one out. But I was told Cliff hates the kids.

The Sturm goal was awesome, but Kessel goal to make it 4-3 is one of my favorite hockey plays of all time. Krejci indirect to Sturm who one touched a pass right on Kessel’s tape and one touch in.

Was debating with my friends tonight. I said this was the most important (not best) period in Bruins history post 2000. We agreed that top 3 was this, 2011 Game 7 OT vs Montreal, and 2013 Game 7 3 period vs Toronto.

I still think this is #1. It brought hockey back in Boston. Marco Sturm will forever have a place in my heart.

It's the reason I fell back in love with the NHL after growing up in Chicago where half the Hawks games were blacked out. So you have that game to thank for my continued presence here.

We're talking about Game 6 in 2008, right? Because if so, then me too. I was watching at something like 4 in the morning from a tent in Kuwait. I never really gave up on the sport, but it was the hardest to follow as an out of market Bruins fan, and so it had kind of fallen by the wayside for me, now, 12 years later, it's easily my favorite sport.

I watched that Muzz goal game the other day. I couldn't believe how much more holding/hooking/intereference was going on. It was a different sport.

And all in on the influence of the Sturm goal. The guts that team played with made that series almost feel like a win anyways and really set the tone for the next stretch of success.

Edit: just went and watched the goal again...chills. I think the building gained a level of intensity that really hadn't been seen since it opened. It's been there since.

Kessel's 1st goal was absolutely filthy. It still made me come out of my chair.
Here is dafoomie's recap.

It’s the best sporting anything I’ve ever been to. Rekindled my love.

Have the Bruins said anything about single game ticket refunds? I've periodically Googled it and come up with nothing which is not surprising in the least.

I would have thought you should have already gotten the refund. I got this that doesn't have any of the normal STH headings or anything so it might apply to everyone? At the least it has an email address that might be useful to try?
Though actually reading it again if June 4 was the deadline 3 weeks for credit card refunds exactly would be today so knowing the Bruins give it another week or two...

We hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. The National Hockey League has announced that the six remaining Bruins home games have been cancelled. Our records indicate that you have purchased tickets to one of these events.
The credit will automatically be refunded to the original point of purchase. If you wish to leave money on account, please opt in here. By leaving money on account you will receive priority access to individual game tickets for the 2020-2021 season, before the general public. The deadline to opt in to leave money on account is Thursday, June 4th at 5 PM. Thank you for your commitment to the Boston Bruins. Please allow 2-3 weeks for refunds via credit card and 10-12 weeks for refunds via check.
Please contact your Bruins representative directly or email ticketing@tdgarden.com with any questions.
Thank you and be well.

We have physical tickets we won in trivia, so communication is somewhat limited. No idea what our options are or if we're SOL because some other place bought them. Didn't think about that until just now. Looking like we should've chosen the gift card option...

Oh, yeah. The refund will go to them and you're likely SOL unless they compensate you another way to make up for it. Can't hurt to contact them I suppose.

Fuck hackers. And fuck covid 19, since I'm on site in dozens of doctor's offices and have to wear a mask and be super careful the entire time.

So ... was talking with a friend about the time a bunch of us ordered those 2 barrels of Four Roses. Is it time to think about doing that again?

Oh man... those bottles bring back memories. Well not those specific ones. But for my oldest brother's wedding, he gave us groomsmen a bottle of the Mariage. Some of the finest nectar I had ever tasted.

I prepped 1 lb of fermented garlic today. I'm so glad for social distancing because no one will want to be down-wind from me for a while.
