Wiscansin, by way of Attleboro
I've been around here for awhile, and ive never started a thread. Love all the greatest hits to death, so much so it got me yearning for the other side of the ball.

Doesn't have to be game sealers or series clinchers, but my two fall somewhere in those categories.

If this is well-trodden ground, please feel free to delete.

I just miss baseball, sports and everything that it meant to me-- and means ever more to me now.

PS. Miggy's tears were delightful.

Nunez at third. I recall a time when ending the Yankees season at their place in the playoffs would've been top-2 unquestionably.

God, the Derek Lowe crotch-chop of victory. Will always bring me back to a shoulder-to-shoulder packed Riviera in NYC, hundreds of Sox fans jumping up and down, and the kitchen staff just going about their business like nothing was happening.

Nomar had some spectacular plays at short in his prime. I can't find too many right now but I'm pretty sure some of the games on the Pedro Server have a few, if anyone remembers the game.

And of course, the best fielding play made in this game:

(much better than this one, if you care to compare)

The wrong side of the bridge....
Damn, forgot about that one. Friggen cannon.
What amazes me about that one is that he almost overthrows 3B from the corner warning track--but like the other one, perfectly on target, so all Devers has to do is elevate and bring the tag down.

I have to keep reminding myself that the guy uncorking those throws is 5'9". A better athlete may have worn a Red Sox uniform, but if so, I missed it.

What a great thread. For me, it's Brunansky, just because I was seven at the time and I'd never seen ANYTHING more exciting or wonderful. Lowe's strikeout to win the series against Oakland a close second.

I'm amazed that he was drafted as a second baseman and aside from a few games at SS, played there until they moved him to the outfield because that was his fastest path to the bigs (with 2B ostensibly blocked by Pedroia). Second baseman aren't generally regarded for their arms.

He had I think 2 leaping catches against the Yankees in the 1999 ALCS that were both huge being third outs with Yankees runners in scoring position (although unimportant in the grand scheme of things). I feel like both were in the same game in NY, even and was one of the only times I got "written up" in college for being too loud. The catch at 1:08 in that video may have been one of them. (From looking through the b-ref gamelogs, looks like it was Game 1, b1 and b3, when the Red Sox still had the lead.

Here's the opposite:

I'm still mad about it.
Hey screw you, buddy, for harshing the vibe around here.

Anyway, T-Long got his in the end, right there in the first clip anybody posted. Just like Torii Hunter. Oh, you want to have robbing HRs be your thing? Took a few away from us over the years? Here you go, go get this game-tying bomb by Ortiz. Have a bloody nose for your troubles.

I know, but all the good ones were taken!

It was DLowe's pitch that reminded me, too. The importance of that pitch can't be understated. That era is remembered for Sox/Yankees, but I remember really, really being into beating the A's at the time. Was that the same series with the interference plays or am I mixing up my years in my old age?

Now that was a classic moment. Tejada, too busy misunderstanding the rules and not doing his job and getting where he needed to be. Too busy pointing fingers. Man, that series was almost as satisfying as beating the Astros in 2018.

Same series. Another crazy play from game 3 was when Eric Byrnes came home on an infield single, Tek blocked the plate, the throw went to the backstop, Byrnes shoved Tek as he was retrieving the ball, then Tek tagged out Byrnes because he never touched the plate. Same game as the Trot walk-off. I was there. Just insane.
