Would the ball not explode if inflated on earth without air pressure pressing in on the ball?
Great, now we'll need a 100 page thread explaining why the gauge pressure on that ball went from 12 PSI at STP to 26.7 PSI in microgravity, and yet nobody tampered with it along the way.

Obviously he owes the pats and the fans nothing after everything he did already, but if he's not coming back he really needs to stop teasing everyone that wants him do with the idea that he is.

Eh. The league, the team, and we as fans used him for our own various motivations for several years, at a substantial cost to his health and well-being. Not saying he didn't bank some cash in doing so, but if he wants to dick us around for a while to generate buzz for whatever comes next for him, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

I agree. He's teasing it for self-promotion reasons, and that is getting a bit old.
I find this line of thinking odd. The team and NFL used his very existence in order to make billions of dollars. He should keep cashing in on that as long as he can. At most he can get one season out of it. Maybe a tiny bit more. If that stuff keeps him in the public eye enough to help make him successful in his second act, he'd be making a mistake not to do it.

EDIT: not sure what happened, but I didn;t see the post above mine (which made the same point) until I posted mine.

Gronk has every right to promote his new ventures as he sees fit. It's up to us as fans to ignore the noise and not get hung up on whether he is trolling Pats fans.

I don't think anyone is losing any sleep. I simply said that at some point it's going to be enough.

Pats fans love Gronk, he would be getting publicity for this even if he didn't tease it the way that he did. Hell, nobody even really took him seriously that this announcement had anything to do with him playing football again yet this got covered. I suspect this is the last time he does this because it just won't work anymore, but at some point if he continues to go back to the well with "Hey maybe I might play again, psych! I'm launching Gronk-flakes, buy them at your local grocery store!" he will start to burn through some of that banked good will.

It's going to take about 4,000 more of these harmless marketing splashes to start burning through all the goodwill he's banked with me.

On the plus side, it won't matter when Gronk is suspended for four games in the 2020 season. But on the minus, there goes another first rounder.

He’s done. He’s never coming back.
It’s a smart marketing move to tease a return while he promotes his projects:

I don't think it will affect his goodwill but the attention it draws will get less and less.

I'd say he still has one offseason "major announcement" that will get lots of play though.

The fans are trolling themselves.

Anyone who thinks he’s going to announce his unretriremtnt via a “stay tuned” IG post is delusional.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me like five or six more times, maybe time for me to stop falling for the same gimmick.”

I didn’t get for one minute that he was coming back. But my point is he knows what it’s going to elicit and he’s doing it repeatedly. He has every right to, and I have every right to be worn out by it

But why should it be wearing anyone out? He made the announcement, most logical Pats' fans rolled their eyes, and that's it. If you don't pay attention to it, it can't bother you. It took me a long time to learn that lesson with sports talk radio. Constantly annoyed about hot takes and ridiculous comments. Once you stop listening, it goes away.

The longer he's away from the game, the less the likelihood that he comes back.

I'm sure he missed it initially, but then he realized he's not taking a pounding week after week and he gets up on Monday and feels great vs feeling like he got hit by a truck.

He took an absolute pounding while he was an NFL player; as great as he was, the injuries took a toll.

Good for him, thanks for giving us fans the privilege of watching you play the game (the two plays I'll always remember among others are when he ran through basically the entire Redskins defense and when he blew up the Colt out of bounds, ie, "I had to throw him out of the club"......), his last NFL catch clinched another Super Bowl win, that's the way to go out, not limping and playing a year longer than you should have.

Enjoy your life Rob and thanks for everything, you were something else on the field.

I honestly don't get people being upset by this even a little bit. Especially in this age of clickbait headlines.

It's actually easy to work this one out in real-time. Think about the scenarios where that tease was actually about unretiring. What possible value is there in teasing it before bits official? What's the chances something is actually moving here without even a single insider catching a sniff of it?

Now check that against the value and likelihood that he's using the tease to promote something. It should be pretty obvious. So obvious, it seems more of a tongue in cheek gag than something he "used" for publicity. It's like getting upset when a magician says he'll pull a rabbit out of a hat, then pulls it out of a trap door in the table. If you were expecting actual magic here, it's on you.

I wonder how much the NFL loves Gronk making all these statements about his body and brain while also being on Fox’s panel.

Did anyone catch Gronk last night on whatever New Years Eve program he was on, we had it on in the background at a house party, I can't recall which one he was on, it was the one Steve Harvey hosted.

All I can is I loved the guy on the football field as previously stated...……...but...……..wow was that bad.

As in all time bad.

I assume he got paid for that.

Good for him.

I guess.

Him spiking Steve Harvey’s LEGO bust was literally the only moment of watchable TV across any of these programs.

Yeah, it was painful to watch. I wish i could un-watch it. However, it could have some upside. Gronk realizes that all these side adventures aren’t really his thing. Sees Brady struggling in a bad playoff loss. They talk. He comes back. One more year for him and Brady. Next year, it’s on.

Any chance of that actually happening? Like, 5%? A man can dream can’t he?

Very uncomfortable tv when he presented the 2 super bowl tix to that Make a Wish kid. Honestly, should have just given 2 tickets for the AFC Wildcard Game.

Again, we had it on in the background, no volume.

No clue that was a make a wish kid.

But thanks for pointing that out, when we all get together Saturday night to watch the game, I'll let my friends know.

So really, kudos to you.

Gronk doesn't need to be good on TV, he just needs to be Gronk. I happened to turn on the FOX NYE show that he was on, and everyone at my house reacted quite positively to seeing him on screen -- and that included all of the non-Pats fans. He's so darn likable, people don't seem to care much that he makes for pretty bad TV. He just needs to figure out how to lean into that likability. I'm not sure that live spots are the way to do it, I suspect scripted TV would be much better for him.

My non-football dream for Gronk is that he lands a role in some Marvel movie, like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and gets one of those side-character roles where he says like ten lines, all of them are gold, and he just gets by on his Gronk charisma for the rest of the movie. Like you wouldn't be pumped for that?

So, Batista? Makes sense.

Batista has too big of a role, I'm thinking something similar to how Taika Waititi portrayed Korg in Thor: Ragnarok. He wouldn't be the same exact character, obviously, but just as someone that appears on the planet and joins the team for that mission, has some great lines fed to him, and leaves. Maybe he even is killed by the main bad guy? Could you imagine the emotions you would feel if they killed Gronk?

Maybe Drax's long-lost brother? I'm just trying to figure out a way we can get Gronk to yell "I have famously huge turds!"

Yes, his role would have to be much smaller. What director would sign themselves up for coaching Gronk? It would be a chore to get even 10 natural lines out of him. We’ve seen his scripted work, and it’s not good.
