Nobody Cares
This can serve as an ongoing game thread for Red Claws basketball. Currently, the Claws have scratched out a 37-27 lead in the second quarter of their first home game against the Fort Wayne Red Ants. Tacko and Tremont are leading the way, and looking damn good doing it.

Where are you all seeing this? Is there a link for the distant fan?

Romeo's affair of the ankle deemed not serious, but he's out for the rest of the game anyway.

Every time I watch a G league game, I'm amazed that guys actually learn anything useful on this level. Mostly seems like a bunch of running and gunning.

I don't know what Tacko's conditioning ceiling is, but I hope it's a good deal higher than this.

It's all hero ball and any big with any type of skill will dominate. It's ugly basketball.

103-100 for the Red Claws
16 pts for Fall on 7-10 shooing
17 points for Waters

Waters got burned on defense in the second half--he got brushed off on picks. He needs to work on that. The Red Claws also shot 24%. Ugly.

The Red Claws need better "game presentation," starting with the announcers.

The 2-0 Claws up big after 3 quarters today. Tacko pretty unstoppable inside, and good to see him using his body to move defenders; after all, he's over 300 pounds! That said, he continues to struggle with conditioning and was just taken out for this while playing backup minutes

Tacko could probably score 100 points in one of these games - if his teammates would chuck less 3's. Actually... I take that back. He looks like 25 min is about his cap, right now... so let's say 50.

Red Claws have come back to lead 61-56 at the half against the Raptors 905.
Red Claws win, 129-115. Tacko with 21 points, 9 for 9 from the floor.

Mighty Maine's battling crustaceans just pummeled the baby Raptors.

Tacko had 21 points on 9 for 9 shooting! He also shot 2/3 from the FT line. That is an important improvement if he keeps it up.

He aslo had 5 rebounds and 2 assists, but only a single block.

Waters went 8 points with 10 assists and 4 rebounds, with a couple of steals. only 2/7 from 3 point land.

Romeo did not play.

Yeah he is pretty dominant at the G League level, which is a good sign. His conditioning is always going to be a work in progress but I think Tacko’s ceiling in the NBA is that of a 10-20 mpg player, so I don’t think he is ever going to be needed for more than 20 mpg unless there is an emergency.

He's also shooting 84% (31-37) from the floor.
if the defender is not between him and the ball, while he has a foot in the restricted area, it's an automatic basket

at 310lbs, with the right coaching/techniques, he should be an effective/efficient 15-20mpg NBA player

I could also see him take a lot from Brooks Lopez drop style defense from the Bucks last season.

The mighty lobsters won again today, in an 11 AM start, 113 to 102.

And in that early starting game...

Tacko went for 14 pts, 7 rbs, and 3 blocks. And a less attractive 4 TO and 4 fouls in 24 minutes. I think that is the most minutes he has played so far for the Claws.

Waters did well. 24 pts, 2 rbs, 9 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks! He also had 4 TO, all in 32 minutes.

Romeo was a DNP.

P.S. Max Strus is now playing for the Chicago Bulls d league team.

Why do they play at 11 a.m.? On a Wednesday? I guess they aren't trying at all to make it a fan experience.

It's a game for the kids. Our local college women's team does it too. Local schools actually take a field trip to game.

The games are actually really loud and it's probably a better experience for fans and players.

I am watching the Red Claws play the baby Knicks. Tacko has only played a few minutes but something is very clear so far, both from this game and from the season. Tacko Fall is not going to be leading any fast breaks. His game works only in the half-court, which is fine, but it is a limitation. He also has problems when he has to play out near the 3 point line.

But under the basket he is good.

Waters, on the other hand, has NBA skills. He can shoot and pass. His defense is so so.

UPDATE: Aaaaaaaaannnnnndddd....Maine is now 5-0 to open the season.

Our very own Tacko Fall has a line of 10 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 3 turnovers. He played 19 minutes. Usually he was in for 4 to 5 minutes periods of time.

Waters started and looked pretty good, racking up 24 points with 3 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal, and 2 turnovers. He shot 5 for 12 on three pointers. It took him 31 minutes to get all these stats. He is a very smart player and if he was 4 inches taller I believe he would be with the Celtics soon, if not right now.

On defense he is good out around the perimeter, but as expected for someone 5'10" had trouble with some matchups under the basket.
