He is eyeing any sports crowd not to boo the shit out of him. He has a winner here.
Only bet safer than this would have been a NASCAR race. But since this will have more eyeballs on it, exposure is maximized.

He's lucky the game is in Tuscy and not Baton Rouge

Part of me thinks the loser, especially LSU since they already played and beaten Auburn, has a just as good of a shot to the playoff. Don't have to play Georgia in an extra game, late in the season/polling.

I think LSU beats Bama.

And KState embarrasses Texas.

And Penn State exposes Minnesota.

Iowa v Wisconsin is probably an ugly game, think the Badgers win by 6 or so.

I thought about that...but if the winner on Saturday runs the table but loses to an 11-1 Georgia in Atlanta, both teams in the SEC Championship Game probably get into the playoff, and the loser on Saturday doesn't. (Right?)

Yeah, the Chase Young suspension won’t have much impact on anything unless he isn’t reinstated in time for the Penn State game.

Sounds like this is an intelligence test more than anything —assuming “family friend” is a fair description of the person who loaned money to Young, he/she could have simply loaned that money to Young’s parents and it wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow. As usual, the NCAA sucks.

If he didn’t want to play by the rules he should’ve went directly to the NFL.

(they’ll run the conference table without him anyway)

Could he have turned pro after last season? I thought this was his third year after high school.

Those of us who attended college either worked to earn walking-around money (not an option for an athlete spending 30 hours/week on his sport) or took money from family. Some of us did both. Young is being punished for not coming from an affluent family. I assume the reason “violations” like this don’t happen more often is because most people have the sense to launder the money through a family member.

That was a joke. He isn’t allowed to go to the NFL.

This Minnesota/Penn State game is confirming my suspicions that Ohio State isn't going to be challenged until they reach the playoffs.

Ohio State is in the top 5 in points scored this year and they are in the top 5 in points allowed this year. They have played impeccably this year. This game against Maryland is only helping their ratios.

Apparently Penn State doesn't think they're capable of putting the ball in the end zone again... dumb decision to go for two.

I continue to really dislike ESPN's college football graphics - it takes me far longer than it should to process all of the information in the box at the bottom-right of the screen. (I complained about this when the new look was rolled out, I think maybe at the start of last season...and someone told me that I'd get used to it. Well, I haven't. I think it's maybe the fact that the time and the quarter aren't adjacent to each other?)

I agree. When you need to see the play clock, it’s right away to see if it may be a late snap. Same with down and distance: where do they need to get to, frustrating if you can’t find it in a couple of seconds. LOL, it looks like a miniature stadium scoreboard.

If Franklin took the points each time, it would be 31-23 instead of 31-19.
But the flip side to this argument is that they'd still need a TD and a two-point conversion - and the two-point conversion was already attempted. I know the conventional wisdom is to wait as late as possible before going for two, but you could argue that Penn State was better off having the additional information it needed to know it needed to chase the points. (Hindsight is 20-20 and all that.)
