baseball has a funny way of evening things out... Brewers have been overperforming massively and it's catching up to them.

Hader hasn't been otherworldly this year, although watching tonight's Hilliard HR, that looked like a juiced ball special + Coors special to me.

Hader has indeed been otherworldly this year, other than his HR rate.

Padres ended up in the NL West basement, ending the season on a L6 while the Rockies spoiled the Brewers' chances at defending the division. not quite what they had in mind when bringing in Machado.

Mets ended up sweeping the Braves in a meaningless series, ending with a walk off bomb from Smith, his first and only AB in months following an injury. Atlanta could have been the 5th team this year with 100 wins, they will settle for 97.

Tigers were truly a horrible team. they finished 47-114 with one cancelled game. the O's were 47-115 last year.

there is no parity in MLB right now, especially in the AL where a 93 win Cleveland team is sent home (it took 96 wins to be a playoff team in the AL this year, 97 last year). The Red Sox were the only team in the AL to have a win total in the 80s!

is the lack of parity in the AL, to a ceratin extent, the product of incompetent GMs? The Tiger dug themselves a massive hole with the Cabrera and Zimmermann deals. the mariners were pretty hamstrung before getting rid of cano. when it comes down to it, a lot of these teams cant really survive giving out 2 bad big FA deals. the sox can since we just spend insane money, but a lot of the bottom feeders that are actually in good markets have a few terrible FA contracts on their books that limit their spending

I guess each year the Blue Jays players are asked to vote on some internal team awards, so that Mike Wilner from SportsNet can write an article I guess.

Anyway, Blue Jays players award Randal Grichuk their MVP award, after putting up 0.5 WAR campaign

View: https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-year-end-awards-toronto-names-grichuk-mvp/

I guess WAR doesn't count for everything, but there were 10 batters and 10 pitchers with a higher WAR than Randal Grichuk. Any one of the three young MLB sons would've been a better choice

What a joke. The writer says that he threw out one players votes because he didn't take it seriously, but I'm wondering if any players tool it seriously

He, by a fair margin, had the most playing time on the team? He split time between CF and RF, and a lot of his poor WAR is due to poorly rated defense.

Oh man, the Mets broke open the game against the Nats with 5 in the top of the 9th to go up 10-4.

Bottom of the 9th:

Robles 1B
Kendrick fly out
Turner 2B (10-5)
Cabrera 1B
Rendon 1B (10-6)
Soto 1B
Zimmerman 2B (10-8)
Suzuki HR (11-10 walkoff win, 7 in the 9th)
This is being replayed on MLBN right now, Kendrick just flew out and it's 1-2 on Turner. This has to be one of the greatest comebacks ever.

Diaz came in with a 10-6 lead, faced 2 batters, and let 5 runs score. That is special.

No baseball is killing me. Thanks for posting, time to go back and watch the highlights of this game. I remember seeing this blow up on my MLBtv app when it was happening and not being able to believe it. The Nats had a truly great run last season.

I caught this yesterday too, what a crazy finish

Saw this in an MLB article on cool stats from this season:

1--Astros have issued 0 intentional walks.
2--The Angels may not have a pitcher reach 100 IP. That hasn't happened in the modern era. Trevor Cahill has a shot.
3--The Angels have no pitchers with 20 starts and probably won't have one.
4--Juan Soto has a chance to finish season with a career OPS+ of 145. Only Cobb, Mantle, and Ott have done that prior to their age 21 season with 1000 plate appearances.
5--Bryan Reynolds has a BABIP of .415. Only Ruth, Sisler, Hornsby, Cobb, and Heilman have had higher ones
6--#8 hitters in lineups are on pace for nearly 600 HRs. In 1992, cleanup hitters hit 607.
7--Bellinger has 44 HRs off of 44 different pitchers
And, since I'm bored, here is how the season finished after this September 3 post

1--Astros have issued 0 intentional walks. - True, none issued the entire year
2--The Angels may not have a pitcher reach 100 IP. That hasn't happened in the modern era. Trevor Cahill has a shot. - Barely made it, Cahill finished with 102.1 inning of 76+ ERA pitching
3--The Angels have no pitchers with 20 starts and probably won't have one. - True, Andrew Heaney started 18 games, finished with 95.1 innings pitching, with a 92+ ERA
4--Juan Soto has a chance to finish season with a career OPS+ of 145. Only Cobb, Mantle, and Ott have done that prior to their age 21 season with 1000 plate appearances. - He's fallen a touch short at 140 OPS+ due to only having a 138 OPS+ for the year
5--Bryan Reynolds has a BABIP of .415. Only Ruth, Sisler, Hornsby, Cobb, and Heilman have had higher ones - He fell off slightly and finished at .387
6--#8 hitters in lineups are on pace for nearly 600 HRs. In 1992, cleanup hitters hit 607. - I'm sure someone is able to snuff this out. I believe @Conigliaro's Potential is the right member for this (I think...)
7--Bellinger has 44 HRs off of 44 different pitchers - Damn, so close, but one pitcher ended up giving up two...HR 44 was off Jake McGee, HR 46 was also off McGee. So 46 of the 47 HR's were off different pitchers
