When can we expect the new "woohoo I'm free thank you lord Jesus" video of him running around his back yard from the AB camp?
When can we expect the new "woohoo I'm free thank you lord Jesus" video of Belichick and Kraft running around their back yards from the Pats camp?

Unfortunately never but I'm sure they exist

I posted in another thread (before he signed with the Pats) that he wouldn't last a month on this team. Dude couldn't even make it two weeks!

Good riddance. It only would have gotten worse before it got worse.

Fwiw, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler is saying Pats do not have to pay AB's $9 mil signing bonus:

Antonio Brown likely forfeits $9M signing bonus from Patriots because of a contract clause calling for players to disclose situations preventing availability, per league source. This could lead to a grievance, but source says that money is 'gone.' Brown was due $5M Monday - Jeremy Fowler

Hard to dream up a better fit, skill wise. I’m an amoral dick but I’m glad I don’t have to think about him anymore. Especially glad he is gone before the next Nantz or Collinsworth game to spare us all the righteous indignation.

I need to add a very significant caveat.

Understand that "signing bonus" does not appear to be a CBA term. The CBA talks about Salary and Guarantees. With respect to earned Salary the CBA is very clear that no team and player may agree to any contract that voids the earned Salary except in very specific events which do not apply here -- incarceration, retirement, missing practices for hold out.

So, if the $9 million is regarded as earned Salary, I think the Patriots may have a significant problem. Put another way if the contract really makes it earned on signing and it is salary and not a guarantee, and the date of payment is just an accounting thing, then they may have a tough road and the stuff I posted above may not apply in this case.

I tried to give it my best reading. But an agent or player rep may know what these words mean off the bat and I have never seen a player contract.
The reporting made it sound like the $9M is a Guarantee, not Salary, which was listed at slightly over $1M for 2019 on Spotrac and other similar sites.

Demaryius Thomas has to be PISSED.

He forsook other possibilities and crushed his rehab for the chance to play with the Patriots. Has a fantastic preseason game and everyone is telling him his spot on the team is assured. Even after he is cut, it's clearly with a wink-wink we'll bring you back after Week 1 for cap reasons, and the Pats sign him up.

Then AB shows up and he goes from Pats heaven to Falk-all. And it turns out the whole AB thing was a mirage anyway.
Thomas played 7 snaps on Monday night and hasn't practiced all week, and so is unlikely to make the trip to Foxboro. He was going to be 5th on the Pats depth chart for the near future anyway.

If he really insisted on it, the Pats probably would have cut him instead of trading him. My guess is that he was at the point where he just wanted a place to play. It's clear he likely has a very limited number of snaps left, if any.

I'm just glad I don't need to read any more pretzel logic posts explaining how the texts weren't REALLY intimidation and weren't really THAT bad. Was he even the texter?

I'm so glad to be able to just focus on football now. Brown wasn't worth the headache.
This is where I am. More relief than anything. And happy this happened in week 3 as opposed to week 13 or whatever. It won’t be a distraction during the stretch run.

If he was going to be put on the exempt list because of the texts, why not wait until that's actually done to limit any chance of not getting the money back?

The team still has to pay the guy if he's on the exempt list. I think it was more because they owed him a $5 mil bonus on Monday. It was basically "shit or get off the pot" time.

For sure, but special shoutout to Adalius Thomas for being one of the only players to publicly spar with Belichick, despite being a pretty big flop of a signing.
Thomas was nothing short of awesome in 2007

Edit: and how was Lawyer a flameout?

Two reasons:

One is that the first $5M payment of the guarantee was due on Monday. Waiting past Monday would likely have made it much harder to get the money back. Also, it's not clear that being on the exempt list would allow the Pats to withhold the bonus. After all, the exempt list is a basically "You may have done something bad, so why don't you watch TV for a couple of weeks while we look into this".

Biggest flameout in the Belichick era? Biggest since Haynesworth? Since Lawyer Milloy?
Haynesworth was a bit less notable, as he was basically washed up anyway by the time he came here. Milloy got cut because he wouldn't renegotiate his contract. It was noteworthy, but he won a Super Bowl here, so I wouldn't call him a flameout.

Adalius Thomas had one good year, then got old and slow and started to be a malcontent that actually did infect the locker room. Belichick cleaned house soon after.

Was that not guaranteed money? Well, "guaranteed" money, cutting isn't going to deny that. Have to figure unless Brown is put on the exempt list or suspended soon, he will file a grievence and win.

Same thing happened with AH. They could have recovered part of his signing bonus had they waited a day or two.

I just realized that the Dolhins could be the only team in the modern era to have both undefeated and winless seasons
What will they drink when they go 0-16? A glass of piss?

What a fucked up day; first some clambrain drives his SUV into Sears and through the mall across the street from the hotel where my business conference is at, then another clambrain goes and gets cut from the Patriots.

He's a total dumpster fire; "AB, be on your best behavior, do what Belichick and the other coaches tell you to do and keep your nose clean and to the grindstone"...…….

He literally cannot help himself, he's a mess and needs some serious therapy in order to get his head and his ass wired together.

It's been noted that the way his contract is worded, the Pats may be able to withhold his bonus payment and win any grievance. There is no clause that limits such action to simply being on the exempt or suspended list.

The AH situation is not at all analogous, and they ended up recouping some of his bonus anyway. I believe it was debunked that waiting a day or two would have mattered.

Thank god this asshole is gone.

The Pats also missed an opportunity for a tiny bit of some good PR by not condemning his behavior toward women in their statement.

I am on record in this forum- Sept 5th, Hypothetical thread- as stating that I didn’t want AB anywhere near this team. Well, the cancerous boil has been lanced and excised. And I am so glad we can get back to Patriot football.

But I truly believed that AB has some serious mental health issues as well as a deep-seated personality disorder. These actions of the past 8 months or so are not just asshole behaviors. This guy is spiraling out of control.

Problem here being that they played him in a game after the revelation. They’ll probably have to roll with the accuser texts as a reason.

Possibly, though there is the matter of the 10 hours of interviews at NFL HQ last Monday.

I’m not sure he was a complete flop. He was pretty good during his three seasons and was probably the best Patriots’ defensive player on the field during the Super Bowl following the 2007 season with two sacks and five solo tackles.

However I agree with the point that being on the wrong side of the coach is clearly not a recipe for success.

Can we just ignore Whitlock, today and for all time?
I mean, I agree in the general case, but in this specific case I don't have a problem with what anyone says in that clip. Though Whitlock's final statement is at least questionable, that if he sits out the rest of 2019 and then comes back and proclaims himself a changed man, he won't have a problem with him playing next year.

Who cares about the optics. They brought him in. They found out first hand that he's an asshat. They cut him forthwith.

Let the bigmouths write. It's irrelevant.
