B’s open up the preseason schedule in New Jersey tonight. Lineup:

Carey - Studnicka - Ritchie
Blidh - Lindholm - Wagner
Fitzgerald - Frederic - Steen
Lauko - Gaunce - Senyshyn

Vaakanainen - Petrovic
Zboril - Kampfer
Breen - Andersson
Sherman

Keyser
Vladar

Devils will have a stream of the game but I think it’ll be blacked out up here. 98.5 is doing radio.

Can't believe I'll be VPNing in to watch a preseason split squad game with maybe 3 skaters who'll actually break camp with the team

The non-game practice lineup today is probably close to what they envision as the opening night team.

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Krejci - Kuhlman
Bjork - Coyle - Heinen
Nordstrom - Kuraly - Backes

Chara - McAvoy
Krug - Didier
Grzelyck - Clifton

Carlo in for Didier and then Wagner and Ritchie fit in somewhere in the bottom 6 and away we go.

I can’t believe NESN isn’t broadcasting at least a NJ feed of this game. It’s not like there’s baseball on tonight.

Just tuned in. T-shirt toss is fire

If you have NordVPN and you VPN into the Boston / Providence / Manchester DMA you should be good

Only saw the 2nd half of the game, so SSS obviously. Few notes:
  • Vaak is such a smooth player, so calm with the puck. Maybe a bit too much on that last shift in overtime.
  • On the other hand, Studnicka looked a little bit over excited. Don't think he played poorly at all, but seemed to be rushing whenever he had the puck.
  • Blidh/Lindholm/Wagner and Lauko/Frederic/Steen were the two best lines to my eye. Steen looks like a player, ignoring his goal which was a bit on the lucky side. That whole line looked like they belonged on the ice. Frederic seems a step quicker than last season. Not really surprising the other line looked good, 3 veteran pros should be one of their best lines.
  • In general, their B squad didn't look outclassed by NJ, which is a good sign.

Senyshyn was invisible which is a bummer. I thought Steen was their best forward, agreed that they have a player with him.

Vaak played 25 minutes and got work with both special teams units. Smooth skater, looks like he belongs but I don’t see a clear path for him to make the team. Zboril had his moments too, I thought he was decent.

Home game tonight, NESN+ has coverage.

Marchand - Coyle - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Krejci - Ritchie
Heinen - Frederic - Wagner
Lauko - Kuraly - Backes

Chara - Clifton
Vaakanainen - Petrovic
Zboril - Didier

Rask

Tuukka expected to play the whole game. First action for 63 and 88. Obviously no Bergeron yet, but Cassidy says they expect him to play one of the final 2 preseason games so he is trending towards being ready on Opening Night. Ritchie getting a look on line #2, Kuhlman has the bulk of the work there thus far and seems to have the inside track on that job.

They're giving Ritchie a lotta rope here. Can't say I'd be thrilled to roll into the season with him being the guy at #2 RW but wait and see I guess

No Frost tonight, he's injured. Do we know the lineups for the Flyers? Namely, are JvR and Giroux playing?

Cup holders in the balcony now, wow. Lauko goal was great, I think he’s going to be a good player. Vaak looked shaky in the 1st period. I got here 5 mins late and don’t think I saw Krejci
