I get to play disc golf on Endor, at a course in a city park a mile from my apartment. This is the adulthood I thought I was getting.

Should I buy a new jersey? I had it in my mind that if they won the cup I was going to buy one with the cup patch on it. But ...

I'm also undecided on who to buy.
I have an 10-ish Lucic and an 11-ish home 3rd Recchi. I'm an old man. I feel slightly weird wearing the jersey of a 20 year old but I can probably get over it. I feel weird buying "legacy" players. So maybe Chara since he's almost as old as I am?

Good talk everyone.

You really can't go wrong with a Bergeron jersey, ever.

Bergeron is a pretty good call. The thing about Axe is he never wore the current jerseys and that would bug me. Unless you mean an old school jersey in which case carry on.

I think there’s a new 3rd coming this year, you may want to wait and see what that is.

I’ve got Lucic old 3rd (black one, not Pooh Bear), Chara home, Sturm Fenway winter classic, and the blank one they gave out when I still had season tickets. For like 5 years now I’ve said I’m going to get Bergeron on it but alas I’ve been lazy.

I have 2 Bergy's, a normal home black, and this year's road Winter Classic. I think he's always a good choice as well. Also, probably not too young for you, like McAvoy.... it's still half your age +7, right?

This is fun. Wife was hesitant to pay the extra $250 to bring in a guy to sweep for an oil tank. Sellers said there was no tank on the property, to their knowledge it had been coal heating before gas. Sure enough, inspector shows up and within 20 minutes of inspecting the outside of the house spots a pipe that might be related to oil because he doesn't know what it is. Thankfully we had booked the oil guy and as we're upstairs looking around I glance out the window and see 4 little flags planted in the ground in a rectangle. A fuckin' oil tank sitting a few inches under the grass.

So, yeah, that's where we're at. That aside, for an old house there were no massive surprises, but now we have limited time to make sure we'd be protected from any costs relating to A) tank removal and B) potential leaks into the soil which can cost $25k or a whole fuckton more if it's bad enough.
Oil tank was pulled yesterday with no signs of leakage. Looks like we're good to go. Closing in 3 weeks but going to Italy first for 10 days. Fun coincidence to have booked a major trip around the same time as the biggest single expense we'll probably ever have. At least a bunch of the trip had already been paid for months ahead of time.

Now that all the big decision making is done, I think the bulk of the stress has passed, although I'm sure I'll regret even thinking that. Moving day is always fun.

This "Season Pass" bullshit annoys me probably way more than it should. But I am really annoyed by it.

Will I still receive commemorative tickets for every game in my package?
No. Season Pass serves as your ticket throughout the entire season.
Why are we converting to Season Pass as opposed to commemorative tickets?
This new approach assures security of your game tickets, protects against fraudulent ticket activity, and simplifies the ticket management process for you throughout the season.
What happens if I misplace my Season Pass?
Your Season Pass is not replaceable.

I want my fucking tickets, thank you very much. Maybe that makes me old. But I like collecting and keeping the stubs. And bullshit it's for my security. I could use mobile entry before if I wanted to. But now I have to keep track of this fucking card. Which, by the way, if I happen to lose or it gets stolen I can't replace. So instead of losing tickets for 1 game I'm fucked for the whole year. Simplifies the ticket management process. You know what was really fucking simple? Grabbing the tickets for the game 5 minutes before I leave the house.
And now I can't just give my tickets to someone. I have to send them through your wonky account manager that doesn't work all the time. But it sure is convenient for you to track what I'm doing with my tickets. And only a matter of time until you start charging us to email them to people.
And oh by the way you've shoved more rows in my section and seats in my row so my already crowded seat is going to be even more crowded. Games are so unpleasant to go to anymore I'm not sure it's worth it to keep renewing.
I'm really grumpy about this.

Resale Reminder
Our goal every season is to fill TD Garden with fans who loyally attend our games and provide a passionate home ice advantage. While we encourage you to use the NHL Ticket Exchange™ to sell your tickets, please note we reserve the right to further evaluate any account that sells more than 80% of tickets during the regular season.

Fuck you. I'll do whatever the hell I want to with my tickets.

I read they replaced the black and gold seats with all black ones, did they really add seats to each row, too?
Yup. And my seats went from having no one in front of us (we were back row balcony) like we did for 10 years to behind people, all to accommodate the new bar and standing room behind us that I’m sure will be a drunken 22 year old shit show like it is in right field at Fenway. We didn’t renew.

Yikes. Reading that makes me just a little bit less sad that we have opted not to move back to the northeast when I retire next month. Bruins tickets were one of the drawing points, and it doesn't sound like they treat ticket holders well.

I'm expected to close on our house 14 October. Inspection and VA appraisal are done, got a new job lined up for after my military retirement, pretty excited about where we will be in a month, but will be nervous until we close.

Good luck with yours, Jed.

Thanks and right back at ya. Very eager to get in and just start living in the damn thing without having to talk to the bank or a realtor or a lawyer every other day.

My grandmother sold her house in Maine and the home inspector is so obviously trying to work an old lady, claiming $20,000 worth of critical repairs needed. It's nonsense - the house is immaculate. She's going to get her own inspector - that doesn't have a "recommended list of contractors that will do the work for the estimates provided in the inspection report".

Congrats PSK and Jed. Rates are ridiculously low right now. I refied to a 15 2 years ago and got enough paid off to be able to reno the whole fucking place.

Literally now is the time to do anything while money is this cheap.

I refi'd in 2017 to cut 13 years and about 350k off the total repayment by paying $150 more a month. Totally a smart move worth checking out every few years.

I don't know how long I'll be in Oregon, or else I'd be looking out here too.

Someone tried to scam me this morning to wire the closing funds immediately, using spoofed emails of our lawyer and the title company. Very cool! It looked about 25% legit but legit enough for me to get on the phone with the relevant parties to confirm my suspicions. Seems like this is an increasingly common scam and honestly it doesn't surprise that a lot of people have fallen for it. It's a vulnerable time, and the whole process is stressful with often confusing communications with professionals who need you to send this or that on short notice all the time. They had our names, the home address, and the names of relevant parties, plus general closing info. In sum, fuuuuuuck the internet. Burying the rest of our money in the yard.

Well you are buying a house so the hole to bury it won’t be very deep.

Kidding. Sorry to hear that, at least you caught it before the money went out. That type of fraud is unfortunately very common.

Anyone in Gardner (ha!) should come see me play some Alice In Chains at the Lithuanian Outing Club. Whatever that is. We’re on at 6.

Go furniture city.

If anyone has been thinking about subscribing to The Athletic now would be a good time. If I refer you I get a $25 gift card and you get 40% off the subscription. Who doesn't want that? I'll tell you - people like Ale Xander who think "it's too hot/early for hockey". Don't be like Ale Xander.

Yup! Everything went very smoothly for the most part aside from some communication issues with the bank and finalizing the exact cash to close amount. House has only had something like 4 owners over the years so title stuff was apparently very clean. Cooked our first meal in the (empty) house last night for our anniversary. Now to finish packing and move next Thursday. Crazy month.

Spent today driving through the Chandelier Tree, and then out to the Glass Beach for sunset. Pretty awesome day.

Just one weekend left in California, then life might become a little bit cheaper.

It's a 4 hour drive from our house, so something like $120 in gas and lots of money for food.

Edit: I should mention that we had our 3 kids and an extra with us, thus food being expensive.
