Yeah that was incredible. Lowry looks solid right now. I’m waiting for Holmes and Westwood to start leaking.

Edit: Fleetwood also really heating up.

Koepka has just had an awful putting day, and really pretty much an awful putting tournament so far

Best shot/smile of the tournament by Lowry.
Best shot I’ve seen anyway.
yeah, that was awesome. The Smith shot a couple min later from the left rough to about 2 feet for Eagle might have been even better, but other than knowing he was on the pother side of the mound, we have no idea what type of lie he may have had

The weather/wind is supposed to be brutal tomorrow afternoon. The leaders could be at a severe disadvantage, and this still anyone’s tournament.

306, row 14
Looks like Lowry caught a break on that tee shot, ended up in the area where the gallery has trampled the grass down. Couple of feet further left and he’d be in the deep shit.

Fair enough, but it really depends when the weather hits. I could maybe see a scenario where it gets bad and the lead drops to 8 or 9. Too many good golfers out there

Yeah he had a pretty perfect lie there

That sucks!
Yeah, this is a pretty questionable move. It’s one thing if dangerous weather is expected, but another altogether when we’re just talking about wind and rain. Seems like protecting the leaders from rub o’ the green. Rare misstep by the R&A here, I think.

With the tee times moved up 2 hours because of expected weather, I can only hope the weather arrives 2 hours earlier than expected

Not sure it is going to really matter that much. From what I saw of the forecast, the bad weather could start as early as the morning, and is likely to be in place most of the afternoon and the evening.. Theya re still teeing off at 1:40 in the afternoon to my understanding. So they are not trying to miss the weather, they are rather trying to account for 5 hour rounds instead of 4 hour rounds And as far as I can tell, they only moved tee times forward by 1 hour, not by 2. it will be 2 hours earlier than today was, but it was already planned to be 1 hour earlier (For example the TV coverfage was scheduled to end at 2PM EST tomorrow, when today was scheduled for 3(

I may be in the minority, but with an infant and toddler, I love the early start since I'm up at 6 AM every day no matter what.

Should be a great combination with another major Tour de France mountain stage.

Imagine telling Fleetwood before the round, you’ll shoot 66 but trail by four. Amazing round by Lowry but his driver looked a little shaky to me. Some weird looking swings.

Holmes went from a share of the lead to 6 back and he shot 2 under. Nobody would have guessed the course would give up a -8 bogey-free round.

Lowry’s chicken wing 3 wood on 14 (or 15?) that almost took out some spectators was certainly loose. But then he righted himself on 17 and 18.

I realize 17 is a unique hole but compared to the swing Holmes made, I thought Lowry really tried to guide the ball.

This course rocks.
This is the correct answer. I played Portrush once, back in 1996 at a time when I wasn't playing that well, and this week absolutely has me itching to go back. (It's weird...Northern Ireland has two absolutely world-class courses in Portrush-Dunluce and Royal County Down, two very solid courses in Portrush-Valley and Portstewart, and almost nothing worth playing after that.)

Predictions for tomorrow? Let me offer you three different bets...who would you take if offered each of these options, straight up?

1) Lowry vs. The Field
2) Lowry/Fleetwood vs. The Field
3) Lowry vs. Fleetwood vs. The Field

I think I'd bang The Field on #1 - Lowry will feel so much pressure tomorrow (not least from carrying the hopes of an entire island), I reckon he has to regress significantly, and in the wind and rain he could easily shoot a 75 or worse. And I'm not sure whether his memories from Oakmont three years ago will help him or hurt him. For #2, I'd probably pick Lowry + Fleetwood over The Field, just because they have such a big lead on the chasing pack. But for #3, I really have no idea - all three choices seem about equally likely to me.

Haven't turned it on yet, but doesn't appear weather is impacting scoring so far. A lot of -3 rounds and Molinari finished -5 on the day.

I don't think anyone catches Lowry.

Yeah the wind is now gusting up to 30 and the radar is really filled in. Afternoon golf is going to be very difficult.

And Fowler just went OB on shot 1.

There’s been a lot of situations this week when the marshals never seem to see the ball or even react to the fore call from the tee. That ball Fowler hit plunked a marshal in the leg and kicked OB.

Whoever called the JT has a shot at this the other day...good call. He won’t win but he could easily end up top 3 after starting the weekend 9 back.

And after I write that he dropped a shot, and just hit a very poor approach from 134
