Big enough for its own thread. Woj was a bit late on Leonard, but then dropped the real nuke with George.

Sources: Oklahoma City is getting a massive package of future picks, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Galllinari, to deliver Kawhi Leonard who he wanted to partner with: Paul George.

The Clippers are sending the Thunder four unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick and two pick swaps, league sources tell ESPN. Those picks go to OKC with Gallinari and SGA.

OKC acquired THREE unprotected first-round picks from the Clippers in this trade (2022, 2024 and 2026), league sources say, PLUS two firsts from Miami (2021 unprotected and 2023 protected 1-to-14) ... AND the right to swap picks with the Clips in 2023 and 2025. Staggering

Hallelujah!!!

Man, the Lakers are in deep right now. Not only are there scraps left for this free agency, but next year's free agent class is incredibly weak.

Paul George ended up with the Clippers after it was certainly the Lakers for the longest time is a gut punch for them.

Kawhi probably said, you get me George I will sign. so they gave up 5 first rounders, two swaps, and two emerging players. OKC couldn't say no.

no idea if it would have been feasible in any way, but i hope the Cs explored what a hayward+tatum+ deal for george would have looked like

Not only couldn't they say no. It might not be a terrible move for them. The team isn't going anywhere in this Western conference.

Wouldn't it have looked like Kawhi saying "nice try but I"m going to LA, not Boston"?

My bias aside, this trade was awesome for okc. They were going nowhere and got a massive haul.

Clippers depth chart looks like:

Beverly/Williams?/?
Leonard/Shamet/Mann
Harkless/McGruder/Thornwell
PG/?/Kabengele
Harrell/Zubac

I assume they add a point and/or a big at the minimum.
That's a great team, 2 stars, a bunch of solid vets and good versatile depth

Wonder if they’d add Rondo.

I don't know if I'd call a trade where you're going to get first round picks in the late 20s/early 30s in all likelihood a "massive" haul, but the Thunder did what they could. They needed a rebuild.

Lakers owned Boardwalk and mortgaged every other property they owned in the hopes of getting Park Place and instead ended up with Vermont, Baltic, and the fucking Water Works.

It's the clippers. You know damn well Kawhi's leg and PG's shoulder are 50/50 to fall off any night

Holy balls what a curveball that was; Leonard signing with the Clippers isn't that surprising, but just tossing in George out of the blue is unreal. Feel bad for Westbrook though; in a constantly rearranging league where stars hop from team to team, he stays loyal only to see other stars come and go.

Has anyone in anything ever just basically kicked ass for 50+ years the way Jerry West has in basketball?

Free agent Danny Green plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. The Dallas Mavericks were also pursuing Green.

what do the thunder care where kawhi is going, george is under contract for 2 more years. If it was possible they could have come out of this offseason with Kemba, George, and Horford with a 2 year window I think you have to strongly consider it. Bunch of ifs I know, and depending on if you believe Shams or Woj George either basically forced their hand in the last few days or they've known for awhile that there was disconect between him and RWB.

I’m just thinking about

UTAH
DENVER
WARRIORS
ROCKETS
CLIPPERS
LAKERS
BLAZERS

that group of 7 is crazy. I don’t remember anything like this.

Gotta think Marcus Morris is going to get an offer from the Lakers, assuming they can still fit him after giving Danny Green so much.

Probably a separate thread but does Miami or New York find a way to get Westbrook now?

OKC got a shitload for PG. I understand the Clips gave it up for the package but OKC was the beneficiary.

Oh, I agree OKC doesn't care. I'm just not sure you can beat that package by LAC. Boston wouldn't have the same incentive (2 MVP candidates for 1 deal). If you're going to mortgage your future and your future's future, you need to be getting an all-time great package like that.
